I disagree that the Gentleman in Moscow focused the lens on the main character. I think he IS the lens, and we get to see vignettes of many different lives and stories through his perspective. The fact that his life remains as stagnant as possible provides a great measuring stick to how drastically everything and everyone else’s life changes because of communism. It also has the added benefit of being relatively low anxiety for people like me who can’t deal with book stress. You feel the depth of tragedy of several characters’ storylines without being overwhelmed by being immersed in their story.

So glad you’re back, I definitely missed your videos! I’m glad you still ended up doing the wrap up and TBR. Im sure it’s a relief everything is getting back to normal for your health too 😊 I recently reread Daughter of Smoke and Bone because I never continued the series (even tho I loved Book 1). So I’m hoping to continue soon.

I’m re-reading Mansfield Park, for Jane Austen July. I just finished Middlemarch and The Son by Philipp Meyer. Both were incredible 5 stars and made it to my favorites of the year. You were definitely missed, glad you’re feeling better.

Surprised to see Mickey7 on your TBR. It’s a nice, light-hearted palette cleanser. The sequel unfortunately isn’t as good, but I overall enjoyed it. Glad to hear you loved Jade Legacy. Sadly her next book isn’t out til 2025 I think, but the premise is wild.

The last season of Cobra Kai was like that they went completely off the rails and they were clearly enjoying it. I read the heroes and I'm just finishing up red country, I'm realising Steven Pacey might be too good, its very obvious who Lamb is very early on.

Mansfield Park is underrated. The worst romance (Edmund Bertram, ew) but the best heroine in Fanny Price.

@@SheWasOnlyEvie he is and he does, I’m not saying Edmund is ideal, I feel like most childhood-friends-to-lovers stories one of them realizes they have feelings sooner than the other and it takes some kind of shake up for the other to be like oh wow my bestie is the one for me and I never realized and I’m a sucker for it lol
