Nothing like it! Certainly one of the best KZfaq channels ever.. at least in my opinion. I remember watching a sit-com one night and one of the characters was playing chess.. I had no idea how the game worked so I looked it up on KZfaq out of curiosity and found this page.. and I was just hooked. I immediately got a chess app on my phone, and within a week I had a chess.com and started playing a bit more competitively! Now I’m just completely addicted and it’s been my main hobby for over a year now .. this channel definitely played a huge part in my chess interest being born. And I love how as your chess play grows better... and your understanding of the game expands .. so does your appreciation of this channel.

At the 9:55 mark, there's another move that's also winning for white. It's Qg5. It threatens to add even more force to Rf7+ because now Rf7+ and Kg8 is followed by the infiltration of the queen on h6 (Kh8, of course, is mate in 2: Qh6+ Kg8 Qh7#. Nxf7 is mate in 3: Rxf7+ then Kg8 is met with Qxg6+ and Kh8 with Qh6+). When I played it out as white at lichess against Stockfish at the highest level (+2600), it resulted in this order of moves: 1. Qg5 Kg7 2. Nf4 (intending Nxh5+) Qd7 3. Nxh5+ Kh8 4. Qh6+ Qh7 And now I just traded down into a won endgame: 5. Rxf8+ Rxf8 6. Rxf8+ Rxf8 7. Qxf8+ Qg8 8. Qf6+ Kh7 (not Qg7?? Qxg7#) 9. Qxe5 gxh5 10. Qxh5+ Kg7 11. Qg5+ Kh7 12. Qxg8+ Kxg8 13. b5 Now the only piece black has that can move is the king, which will never be able to simultaneously come to the queenside and get the black pawns moving again while defending against the two passed pawns at g2 and h2, which have the white king to protect them. I even had the a3 pawn that could move up a square in case I needed to waste a tempo. It was an easy win from there.

Hello Agadmator! I will tell you a short, but painful story. I became passionate about chess in 2016. I never really put any time studying openings, middlegames, or endgames, just understanding principles and did some tactics training from time to time. In 2019, I got to 1450 rating, for which I was very happy. Until one day 5 months ago, when I lost one game, then second one, then third in a row... and all of sudden I noticed I became tilted and lost -200 points. Dropped to 1250. Then I thought I wanted to kill my passion. I was fighting very hard to not watch any chess videos. First week was the hardest, but then I managed to survive without chess. I even got to the point when I didn't care that much. But today my inner gut feeling (a.k.a.) conscience whispered to me that I need to admit that everyone may fall, but only the strong ones rise up again. So the first channel, which I wanted to visit, is Agadmator's Chess Channel :)) And now I see that I will have whole 2-3 days to devour - over 100 videos that haven't been watched before 🙂 I hope I will get to 1500 again, even if it takes another half a year. Keep doing the great job! Your sincere fan from Latvia!

the key to good "learning by cheating" is 0) play at least 10 minute games 1) play your own game and whenever possible do not let the computer dictate your game 2) consult the computer only if you choose a move that gives your opponent a greater advantage. 3) never play moves you do not understand (find a move you do understand) 4) if you don't find a move you understand, risk losing the game I have used the computer as my personal coach for about 1 year to improve my game. Now I don't use it anymore, only for analysis. It was a very instructive training to find my personal style. It is reprehensibly clear, but a better free training I could not have gotten so easily. Training from imitation to adaption.

He said, he started brushing on his guitar skills but it goes slowly, as his fingers hurt :) I suppose he already played it in the past and now as the corona came and he is stuck at home, he came back to playing it. Actually, I myself play the guitar more now with the corona (I am not skilled much, just strumming some chords to play around the campfire with friends etc, so I usually play when we go somewhere... But now, I play a few songs every day).

Is queen + knight vs 2 rooks with equal number of pawns clearly winning for the queen?

In most cases... Yes!

Queen is usually considered worth 9 ’points’ and knight 3 points wheras a rook is worth 4 points. So 12 vs 8 is in clear favour. However, these points also quite a lot depends on the standing on the board (pieces might be resticted in their manoverablity and so on). But in this position a very big advantage for white...

Can someone please explain this to me 10:05 What if black does not capture Rxf7. Kh6, Kh8 or Kg7 will save the day. Then it will not be a winning move for white. The knight guards g6 pawn, so the queen can do nothing. In case of black Kg8, white can not go Nf6 because it will block the Rf1 that guards the other rook. Am I missing something?

I don't know if I missed anything but I think these all end in checkmate; I put the lines I could see below; Kh6 is met with Qf4, g5, Qf6, Qxf6, Rxf6 for checkmate. Kh8 is met with Qf4, Nxf7, Rxf7, anything, Qh6, Kg8, Qg7 checkmate; Or g5, Nf6, Qxf6, Qxf6, Kg8, Qg7 checkmate. Assuming you meant Kg8 for the last one? Met with Qf4 leaving black with either Nxf7 -> Qxf7, Kh8, Nf6, Qxf6, Qxf6 with check. If black goes Kg8 -> Qxg6, Kh8, Rf7 for unstoppable checkmate with Qg7 or Qh6 (if Rg8 by black) after; Or black can try and defend with Rf8 -> Ng6 and either; Qxg6, Qxg6, Rxg7, Qxg7, Kh8, Qf6, Kg7, Qg6, Kh8, Rf7 and you have the same position as above for checkmate; Or Kh8, Qh6 for checkmate.

@@hennerz270 "Kh6 is met with Qf4, g5, Qf6, Qxf6, Rxf6 for checkmate" That's not checkmate. Black Kg5. But after Rg7 Kg5 then Rf4 is checkmate.

Abolfazl I was thinking that too. I was looking for the answer to be a checkmate, but it's not, Rf7 is just really winning for white. I put it into an engine and it doesn't see mate, just that white will end up having more than an extra rook no matter what black does.

Can you please say what is the time frame of the game before every game you cover? I know nakumara is very strong blitz player and Sergey very strong classical player and I'm curious what is the time frame
