Its incredibly brave for Lee to let us watch him learning. I never would have been able to let someone watch me at a lesson. The embarrassment factor runs high . way to hang in there Cap. It'll only make you a better player.

This is fantastic! Thank you Anderstons/Lee/Justin/et al. for this concept (i.e., professional guitar lesson which is a departure of sorts on your "sales" channel) and sharing. I appreciate the talent and time/effort put into producing this. You spoil us and please know we do not take it for granted. Cheers!

That opening jam was a really great testament to Justin's ability as a teacher and the Captain's hard work. Pretty sure, he wouldn't have imagined he would be soloing that melodically, just a few months ago when this series started. Nice one both of you! :)

Out of the many guitar teachers I've seen; Justin is the best guitar teacher on KZfaq. His skills, his unique ability to make seemingly complex concepts very simple and his knowledge all make him a great teacher but mostly his enthusiasm is infectious and he makes you pick up your guitar with that same enthusiasm and confidence. His positive attitude and kind demeanor he also reminds me of a Dick Van Dyke from Mary Poppins.

They are touching on a very important concept here - you don’t have to memorize chords if you know how to construct them. Look at those chord box books with hundreds of pages of chords and imagine trying to memorize them all one by one vs. knowing how to make a chord, what the scale degrees are in basic chord forms and knowing what to change to make any chord into another. It seems daunting for those that haven’t learned that way but it is a HUGE time saver in the long run and makes learning new chords trivial to the point of never needing to look up a chord every again, even to the most complicated chord you could think of.

I actually really enjoy these and would love to see the series continue for quite a while. I really enjoy these and find them much more enjoyable to watch than Justin's lessons that are just him. There's something about the banter that makes it seem more like I'm being entertained rather than educated. I hope that was polite and clear enough.

I love these videos. I also learn a lot from Justin's own channel. He had a very similar series where he taught chord variations and embellishments (he did not call them Sus chords, though) and then as I'm watching this I realize that I may be one step ahead of the Captain?! Wow. Also during this lesson it finally hit me for the first time, how the chords got their names. Thanks to Anderton's, whose review helped me decide on the new Fender I bought and who turned me on to Justin's lessons, I am a much better player over the last 3 months than I have ever been in my entire life. I can't wait to learn the CAGED system next.

Man, thank you guys so much for doing these. This has to be the best series on KZfaq I've seen in a year. It's great for many reasons but here's are a few. 1 - everyone must find themselves in the Captain's shoes at some point. In many ways I've felt stuck for 10 years and though I search and search the correct path is hard to find - perhaps because there is so much info out there. 2 - there's something about seeing a lesson given to someone else that's so much better than Justin talking to the camera by himself. The back and forth generate dialog and ideas that would have otherwise gone unnoticed or perhaps not thought of by the presenter. This one has been the one that helped me the most so far. Thanks for all the hard work and keep them coming!

This is a really fun series. It‘s cool of Lee to not hidd his insecurities and the difficulties if a guitar player that is overwhelmed with informations when trying to break out from beginner patterns. Long sentence… I‘m 45 years old, hab some lessons when i was 25-30 years old. Got stuck, gave up for almost 15 years. Kept my guitars. Lately i picked the guitar back up because i have sleeping problems and wake up at 4am each day. Now i use that time in the morning to practice scales and learn theory in my own speed. Like Lee, i always tried to find a shortcut around theory. I lost more time than if i would have learned it i guess. Some weeks in with 1hour a day oracticing scales (major, major pentatonic at the moment) the tone, the knowledge over the fretboard, the palm muting, the rythm and the sense for intervals improved already a lot. Mostly what i play it‘s not musical at all, but often i start to hear things that fit and sound well, i start to match the chords to the scales. It feels like a good start into a day when i oractice first thing in the morning, the brain isn‘t confused allready. I think there‘s no way around practicing the scales and the chord variations connected to it

I love the fact that Justin did that very quick run through most of the possible A minor like voicings. It's very quick, but hey - playback controls. I now know how to name some chords I've used but didn't know the name of, and learned at least four new voicings. I know Lee was poking fun at him for it, implying it was too much info at once... but I found it really helpful just to go through it all slowly to get all those positions under my fingers.
