Perhaps the greatest song by the greatest pure-rock bank of all-time -- done live, with wonderful, spectacular nuances and incredible production in the O2 center in London in 2007.
Thanks to the Led Zeppelin KZfaq page for this video!

I was 15 when I bought the album Physical Graffiti in 1975, I’m 63 now. Saw them in 1977 at the Seattle King Dome. They sounded and performed like back in the 70’s. Plant did amazing with his vocals, and Page was having the time of his life. Jason couldn’t quit smiling the entire song. Age is just a number, they still got it! Great reaction!

Helene here. I love hearing Page, JPJ and Plant talk about the rehearsals leading up to this concert, and bringing Jason in. Jason had made it a point to get ahold of every bootleg out there of Zeppelin and had studied his dad’s drumming for every song, every concert. According to the original three, Jason was a big help during rehearsal, because it was like having all those bootlegs there with them. If Jimmy couldn’t recall a particular transition or ending, Jason would chime in with “well, in Chicago in 1973 you did it this way, and in Orlando 1975 you did it this way.” That knowledge, along with his immense energy and enthusiasm helped allot when the others flagged a bit. It was a pretty intense six weeks leading up to the gig…..very emotional for all of them.

As usual, JPJ is also playing bass foot pedals while still playing the keyboards, you would soon notice if he weren't there ( and that's the case for every zeppelin song!!) Thanks for appreciating his stellar contribution 😃

As I've said on other videos, for those of us old enough to remember LZ in their heyday, this live Celebration Day concert was technically better, musically and otherwise than they were back in the day. The genius of their music has seasoned and they are more polished. Plant sounds (and looks) phenomena and, being more "clear headed" serves him very well. I also love that instead of just lazily running through medleys of their countless hits, they give this one and some of their other masterpieces the attention that they deserve.

Entire concert (two hours, with three encores) is fantastic! A must watch! Kashmir was the finale….they’ve been playing for almost two hours at this point. Not that long for a traditional Zep concert, but hey…as you say, they’re a bit older here! 😁

Helene here. Jimmy Page produced the video of this December 2007 concert. It was released in 2012. This was the same year as the Kennedy Center Honors celebrating Zeppelin, among others. There is a great video of an interview of the four of them, Jimmy, Robert, JPJ and Jason, promoting the release of this concert film. The interaction between Plant and Jason (his godson) is especially endearing.

There were only 20,000 seats available and when they went on sale, all the servers crashed with over 20 million request for tickets in the first 2 hours. Also they were all in their 60's. Kashmir was first released in 1975. Singer is Robert Plant, guitar player is Jimmy Page, keyboards and bass, John Paul Jones, drummer, Jason Bottom, son of original drummer, John Bottom. When they were rehearsing they told the crew, NO AUTO TUNE OR OTHER ENHANCEMENTS, they wanted to do it just like they did in 1975. Voted best rock band of the 60's-70's & 80's. Then came back in 2007 and did this in their 60's and killed it with NO AUTO TUNE OR OTHER ENHANCEMENTS today singers use.

Very powerful! Watch the whole concert. I feel they are better with age (like a fine wine). The very lucky concert goers had to win a ticket lottery to buy them. IMO it would have been worth every penny! And Jason fit right in, you know his father is proud of him.

One couldn't ask for a better closing of the book. They were offered silly money to do a world tour but Plant said no. He told Jason the reason they quit was because his dad was no longer with us & that hasn't changed. So true, its not Zep without Bonzo. As good as Jason is. The band did rehearse with a few singers afterwards hoping Plant would change his mind. Thankfully he didn't.

There is one version of this performance out there that is extended after the song is finished with all four guys at the front of the stage with arms around each other and I thinks it’s Jimmy Page that reaches around Robert Plant to give Jason a quick rub on the head with his hand. Pretty touching.

Great songs in this, No Quarter is astonishing. The lyrics for this came from Plant's bout with line fever hallucinations when he and Page were going to a festival in Marrakesh. He decided to make the song about a mystical experience placing it in Kashmir instead of Morocco. As Paul on the road to Damascus, it might have been Israel but Brits singing about Israel, esp Jerusalem, might have started another war. British imperialism being further removed from India, I do not think anyone died over the song. And well, Mecca, you do the math on that one.

Oh cool un blocked video, good review of a band I am not familiar with, excellent musical skills, wonder how a modern singer would sing with this band, don't think there are many out there that could do a cover of this song. Grave VanderWaal perhaps, but she might not be able to pull it off. These old bands did it all without auto tune, just heir voices and instruments.

He said that there were some “fixes” but added VERY few. His one mention was that that long note held by Robert was extended just a bit…..because hey, who could hold a note that powerfully that long at almost 60? But to me, the main point is that VERY few fixes had to be made. You can tell by the audience reaction that they were superb that night.

I think this performance punctuates their career as artists and their contribution to the development of popular music. Given the passage of time and all that entails they should not be sounding this good. Personally I like this live version over the other versions I have heard. The pacing of the song, the mix of the instruments AND Robert’s voice are just extraordinary. If there was someone better, I don’t know who that would be.
