Located in central Pomerania this fascinating region, seldom visited by foreigners, has developed its own unique language and culture, different from the rest of Poland. A culture it is now struggling to preserve. Join Brian as he experiences the history, food, wilderness and traditions of this forgotten corner of Europe.
Brian's journey begins on the shores of Lake Wdzydze, where a local festival is in full swing. After exploring a local skansen and sampling traditional Kashubian food, Brian rents a kayak to explore the lake.

Currently finding out more about my family history. My great grandma was born in wdzydze tucholskie, pomorskie, poland and died in Tacoma King County Washington United States. Happy to learn more about my culture and thankful for this video

Thank you. I'm glad to hear that. I wish I had the Fisherman's Pilgrimage and some more places in Puck County, but I had no way of getting there. But that's okay, I'm glad you liked it anyways. @@briantravelman Yes, I saw them. I am so suprised that there ARE videos about Kashubia! Glad to see that my homeland is getting popular abroad! Sorry for not perfect English, by the way I am from Wejherowo/Wejrowò/Neustadt (Polish, Kashubian, and German name), quite big city in northern Kashubia. It is around 15 km away from Puck, the city that I love. I was there million times, also I visit Puck, Hel, Władysławo and Sopot every year! These are 4 beatiful cities on our coastline

Is the festival every year? And when exactly?

It should be. This year it's July 20 and 21. I think it's usually the third weekend in July.

@@briantravelman , Thanks Brian, my wife and I would like to visit where my great grandmother came from and are thinking of going in a couple of years so I'm gathering info.
