They don't actually have a problem to begin with. It's enough to understand and accept each other when things went wrong. The son should be more grateful for having parents like that

The mother is overprotective of her son. Anyone who went away to school for just 2 weeks will be homesick for sure. He needs time to adjust to the new environment. To pull him out from that school is a little premature. Let him stay for a semester then if he is really adamant then let him come home. Catering to his every demanda will in the long run ruin him. He needs to be independent and face all the hurdles in life. Otherwise he will never learn to stand on his own.

and here I thought they were talking about a school age kid about missing home from the dorm. The mother needs to loosen her apron string. It's not like the her husband nor the school is mistreating their son. It's just the son not being able to do things the way he wants anytime he feels like. The father realizes the opportunity his son has and should take advantage of it while he's young. What the son and the mother doesn't see is the connections the son might make at the school that would help him in the future.

I have 14 yo daughter and now in boarding school. The fist year was mess. She cry endlessly, and honestly me too T.T But she's 3rd year now, and doing fine. She knew that this is for her better future. We seen her once a month and no more tears. She adapt really well, and sometime she even praised me for putting her in that school. She said, maybe she will grow to be a 'problem child if she stay in regular school . I don't know if she really meant it, but still I m really happy when I hear that. Now, she apply for another 3 year in the same school. And I can't be more proud!!! I feel the Dad is really good man, and her mom maybe spoiler him *a little bit*. And their son knew that. For now they need to discuss this matter in cold head. Because they need to be in the same page about raising kid. If not, that kid will get a mess up message. And that a receipt for disaster. *pardon my english T.T*

I feel like the basis of this concern was way too immature. Whining after staying for just 2 weeks in the dorm is nothing compared to those people who have given seven to eight years to training to be an idol. I kinda get where the father stands, anyone with a child who is such a prodigy, would definitely want him to acknowledge the privileges he is getting because of his intellect. I hope he continues to pursue his dream but in a mature way out.

I agree as well. After watching this episode it really feels like he is complaining honestly. It's not like he isn't talented, but he is old enough to understand that life is short and if you can't succeed into one dream you should chase a career for yourself. He is overprotected from his mom as well and that's not a good sign for the son.

Why bring up idol training? I understand he wants to be a singer, but if he wanted to be an idol the wait would be worth it because he is fallowing his dream. He obviously doesn't want to be at that school and I don't think it's right for his dad to make him do something he doesn't love. Plus you can't blame him...the mom is the one who sent in the concern not him. If he was my son I would take him out , not to spoil him but so he can follow his dream.

I feel the father is fair, the son seems use to getting his own way with his mother. Life isn't like that she is doing a disservice. Nice voice but they are plenty of beautiful voices and talented people. The ones who are strong and determined , and talented make it to the top. According to his parents school and everything else comes easy to him. She can't live his live he needs to find the determination to get through challenging situations, and different circumstances. This is a lesson to help him get a little taste of what it's like in the entertainment field. I hope he doesn't walk away and give up when it gets tough.

First - the son has an amazing musical skill and I was actually really liking his songwriting. I hope he manages to make a name for himself whether as a singer, songwriter, or both. Second - the more I think about this concern I think that this is just a matter of things having come easily for the son. In a way, I encountered similar struggles. I had things pretty easy up through high school. I could pass without having to study like crazy, people generally liked me and those that didn't weren't too harmful to me. So when I did have to try harder at things, when it wasn't as easy, it was shocking how hard things could be. And it took some serious adaptation and adjustment to accept that these things would take more work than I had done before. I think he is the same, and this is his first real hurdle and his parents can't help him with it. I believe that after a few months he will learn to cope with the changes and find a way to continue his passions without feeling trapped. I'm rooting for him to do well.

The kid has a dream, but he has been placed in a situation where he can't even explore that dream. For those on the stage saying they wished they had studied more in the past, they have already achieved their dreams. He is obviously a good student, regardless of the school he attends, so the parents should allow him to attend a school where he can pursue his dream and continue to be studious.

It seems all the comments are completely ignoring that he's not allowed to pursue music at all in the dorm. As a musician, you have to practise daily, not just to improve, but for mental peace. He's already doing well enough. Going to this special school might open some doors, but being a good student with a consistent record, he'd get there anyway. Why introduce such strict routine into the life of a teen that is already thriving in his own way? He could end up burning out. He may also be struggling with social anxiety, given that he made his first friends in middle school. Some people need privacy and mobility to stay calm. This was just an example of adults holding children to standards they would never meet themselves. He has to work hard, but he doesn't get a say in where he lives? That's crazy. Calling a kid whiny and judging him for his concerns when he's a top student, talented, hardworking and even used his own savings for the things he wanted is not normal behavior. Y'all need to introspect. Kids aren't an extension of their parents and their present is just as important as their future.

i can confirm this is probably 80% of Korean sons' issue, that their fathers have absolutely no idea how to communicate. This includes me... me and my father don't have great relationship and it saddens me day by day as he's not getting any younger. I am in my 30s and I don't have any courage to approach and fix this. I hope they can come to terms.

If it wasn't for the fact that he couldn't sing, I'd say he should give it more time. But since singing is such an important aspect of his life, I definitely understand him. That'd be like me not allowed to read. I think people might be underestimating how important some things are to the well-being of people. That's not to say I don't understand the parents, either. Before the family came on, I suspected the father wanted the son to stay to learn discipline and dedication, so I was already prepared to understand his perspective. Still, I think it's important to have a balance and compromise. He has potential as a singer, just needs more training. I'd say he's young and he still has time, but the reality is that the Korean music industry likes to start them young. Plus once you're an adult, adult things tend to get in the way, making it more difficult to pursue dreams. It's tricky. I wonder if he can go to a karaoke place or something? Surely they're not locked in on campus all the time? They need free time and down time. School and study all day, going to bed at 12:30am and waking at 6:30am? I wanna cry just thinking about it--I couldn't do it! Seems like the parents just need to be more understanding of each other and their parenting styles/methods.

I think he should be extremely grateful. Despite his dad being from a different generation and having a different view from him, his parents still support his dreams and root for him. Even though his dad has higher expectations from him, it's only because his dad wants him to do well in life and this doesn't meant his dad is restricting him from chasing his dreams as a musician. There are some parents who are unsupportive of their children's dreams and want their children to follow a specific route whether they like it or not, so he should think of this and consider himself as extremely lucky that his parents are even this supportive of him. If I had parents like his, I'd be beyond grateful.

I went to a boarding high school & I’ll be honest, the first two weeks was annoying bc there were a lot of rules I have to obey, I can’t have ketchup with all my meals (since it’s for all students not one), it was an girls school & wasn’t fond of it, plus many more unreasonable reasons. However, my dad didn’t listen to me when I call after two weeks crying over food & wanting to leave, instead told me to “suck it up.” Glad I did listen to him bc I meet the best life lasting friends who became a part of my family as well as instructors whom treated their students as their daughters 😌♥️♥️

Thank god at the end of the show the host did not agree with what the son wants. His father actually a good dad. Not like he did not give the son to sing at all. He even get his son to have music lesson. Isn't that love? Parents did not say out loud that they care. They do it with their action not words. His mom should stop spoiled him. Its only 2weeks. when he started saying "we all lie" sky castle came into my mind lol his voice isn't bad and so is his guitar skills....but 2 weeks in a dorm and already giving up? he does know that the idol life is just as strict with their schedule, right? he will have to practice the same song and dance over and over again and they don't have the right to pick out their title track and concept. being a singer-songwriter is just as hard if you're unknown. if he really means, he should try auditioning for an agency that supports his demands. rather than whining about it, he can try showing more proof to his work and convince his dad of his effort. his dad isn't giving in easily to him because he cares about his future. he's a good father and both of them must learn to respect each other's view points.

When I went to college, I lived over 3 hours away from my parents home. I am not going to lie. I did get a bit homesick for the first few days, but I came to school to learn and to get my degree. I chose the school. My parents wanted me to be closer, but I didn't want that. That was my choice. After graduating, I did come back home. I will never regret my choice to go to school far away from home. I will never complain about the distance with my mom. She will probably spoil me and convince my dad to bring me home. That is not what I want. The son in this scenatio is spoiled. At every inconvenience, he would come to his mother. His mom spoiled him so much because he is her pride and joy. I understand that, but she will hinder his personal growth.

I spent my time a lot at home and being outside as much as I want, and whenever they ask me why I go out so much, or simply why dont you help doing some house chores. I basically reply with 'you basically throw me and make me stay there for years eventho I said I didnt like it there so why shouldnt i enjoy my freedom now? And why should i do chores when i can enjoy sleep and wake up late whenever i want at home , playing games for hours and watch netflix, play with my phone and all.. '. I just make up for all those time i felt trap and do whatever I want. And Im vow to definately not letting my child go to that home called cage anymore. I hate it. And I dont want them to experience the same things like I did.

Why is it a problem. My daughter school also quite far from home. If she had to go home everyday she had to leave the house by 5.30am riding motor bike. So I had her rent a room near school... When oneday she wants to ride motorcycles to school. I actually concern coz vew students got into accident. Since she is so adamant I had no choice but to threaten not to pay her school fee if she doesn't continue stay at the rented room

I can't understand him at first, Why would he want to leave the dorm even just after being there for 3 weeks? But when he talked about their schedule, it came to my mind that it must be a little suffocating for him cause, they would get up at 6:30 then sleep at 12+ and at that time the only things they did we're to study. But then again I think he really is a little bit spoiled by her mother cause his an only child😌. So for now instead of just listening to her son she should also try to understand her husband, and that she should take mind of both sides.😊

They used to take in really bad cases that should have been directly taken care of by professionals and sometimes the authorities, and it backfired. I feel like now they show really mild problems because of that, and personally, i like more that approach on the show.

This is not an issue imo. The family literally moves into a two story house so he could pursue his dream. It seems like his family sacrifices a lot for him to go after his dream, all they want him to do is to go school. He should have waited it out before he complained he was literally only there for two weeks.

SuJu_Mimi I guess he doesn’t have time with a busy schedule, and maybe he needs his guitar too for the melody? Idk how to write songs, so I might be wrong. And also, maybe he gets nervous because he can’t practice singing when he’s in the dorm. But I guess he could try harder to find a way, before giving up after only two weeks. ( Sorry for any mistakes )

I understand them all. The son is talented, but he's temperamental... and because mom is concerned with feelings and caters to the son, dad thinks she's unreliable and is spoiling the kid. It's not like he's paying for his own education, so I thihk he should stick it out. Or maybe dad can make arrangements for him to join a music class a few times a week while he's at school.

Genuinely surprised that this comments section isn't 100% on the mother's side and calling the dad a bigot.
