Heterochromia iridum is commonly associated with other diseases. I have central heterochromia making my eyes look green and orange in the center. Like those girls I was born with it so it’s generally harmless. It does mean you get a lifetime of people often strangers as your growing up holding your face going wow look at those eyes to your parents as if they wouldn’t already be aware. As an adult most people don’t generally get in your face they just say they like the color. However if it develops without it being there prior, it does generally mean something is wrong.

It's technically a genetic deformity. But in the same way when a person has red hair and green eyes. Most people with red hair have brown eyes, and green eyes, in general, are also a genetic deformity. It's still beautiful.

That's how I feel a lot watching this show, or other Korean shows... Although they are being nice and supportive and not in any way AGAINST the person, it still shows how the korean society is like. They see their standards as the only normal. and if you are different then you're.. "different". And you won't be seen equally.

I might be wrong but I asked my biology teacher and he said that technically she does have the gene for two brown eyes but when they were forming something went wrong and she got one blue eye. This is supposedly true for other people with heterochromia.

My sentiments exactly, so thank you! Korea is an ultra-competitive, beauty-obsessed society and its still trying to define its modern self. As a result, its still struggling to deal with diversity in its culture and this is one of the sad outcomes. Having said that, our little one here is absolutely gorgeous and I know she'll grow up to be an amazing person. It was so nice to see the girl with blue eyes (gorgeous!) and the cute baby with albinism too - I am very happy to see them doing well.

In some small way that statement of other countries embracing being different and not looking the same is a lie... There are ppl in all countries that stare and comment on others for being or looking different some go as far as calling out stupid things, some resort to bullying Just look at all the ppl that have these problems worldwide in all different countries many many ppl do not embrace it which is sad

Not only Korea... other countries as well. It may not be the same differencies that people will find weird/abnormal, but still, I lived in a lot of countries and I can say it's pretty much the same everywhere. They are good people who'll accept you and your uniqueness, and others who won't and will bully/make fun of you.

That was exactly what I was thinking while watching the video. In Turkey, we find people with two different coloured eyes similar to Turkish Van cats. They are known for their two coloured eyes, well not all of them but still they are famous for heterocromia (which makes them one of the most sought-after breed btw) and they are STUNNING. But maybe it's because in Korea almost everyone has dark coloured eyes and blue just sticks out like a sour thump meanwhile in Turkey and France etc. people are accustomed to different eye colours and seeing two in one doesn't create that alienation effect? Just a theory ofc.

Listen, that’s such a odd direction to go to when thinking about having odd eyes. Why do you think of anime and cosplay when you see her as a small Korean child? Just because she’s Asian doesn’t mean she’ll be interested in that. Plus, the problem isn’t that it’s ugly or bad, the issue here is that people around her don’t know how to mind their own business and treat her like some kind of object on display. She’s a person too, and she doesn’t have to be treated like that just because she’s different. Not only that, it’s not good that they’re just telling her it’s okay for her to be different that way because HER difference is pretty and it’ll make her attractive. That throws people with other physical features under the bus and doesn’t solve the issue at hand. That one eye has a lack of myelin and is in the DNA. RNA might have mutated I will be less myelin. They are beautiful, and I think some one's flaws or birthmark make them beautiful.

It's not just Korea. Even in America, I know people who have had a similar experience. It's not something a lot of people know about. I didn't even know what it was until two years ago so I probably would have stopped and stared too. Of course that would have been rude but it's not something you see often. Maybe you don't understand that her eye color was caused by a defect or a mutation. It's genetically near impossible for east Asians to be born with a blue eye. Have you seen many Asians with natural blue eyes? Any parent in any country would be concerned if their child was born with a defect or a mutation.
