The #1 key to success with Panther Chameleons is to know what a chameleon is and to match your expectations with what they are. Today I go over the five things for you to know before you make the decision to bring a Panther Chameleon into your home. This information is critical for you to do it right!
Note: This is a hybrid video which combines both video and audio elements. You can watch the beginning and then do your drive to work, work-out, or do chores around the home during the main information. During the audio portion you are treated with the Baby Cham Cam which shows you what this baby Panther Chameleon was doing while the podcast was playing!
Live Session Schedule:
If you have questions and would like to ask it live or just hang out with people that love chameleons, join me Saturday's at 12 Noon Pacific here on KZfaq or else Tuesday nights at 5PM Pacific on the Chameleon Academy Instagram account.
This is the first episode of the Panther Chameleon Podcast which is dedicated to you being successful with keeping a Panther Chameleon. This playlist starts at square one and each episode builds on the last to get you up to speed with the latest in Panther Chameleon husbandry.
The Panther Chameleon Podcast is a tutorial outreach of the Chameleon Academy.

I went to Petco and I experienced a Cham acting like I had never seen (mind you I have only interacted with them in petstores). He saw me and immediately came down from his branch and clawed at the wall like he wanted to be held. I found it so fascinating and I talked to the store worker and he too admitted he was the friendliest cham he ever encountered. A part of me thought he was just a rare personality and really made me want him, get him out of the cage he seemed he wanted out of so bad. Listening to this, I realize he just wants a better environment. His must not be the best but makes me want to get him out of the store even more. I feel like I really did feel his begging. I went back today and same thing. Immediately saw me watching him and came begging on the glass. The worker took him out and he immediately walked all over but did seem disinterested in me, just happy to be out. He also didn't want to go back in. I think I want to get him. Save him... even if he becomes disinterested in me I'll know he is happy in his environment.

You are smart to realize that giving him a proper home may change his behavior! But that change in behavior when he finally feels secure will also indicate that he is happier.

Bill, I cannot express how grateful I am for discovering your channel. I’ve wanted a Cham for years but never owned a reptile and would get so overwhelmed when I’d look into having one. I discovered you last summer and after hours of watching your videos and posts on your website, I felt ready and brought a juvenile ambanja into my home last December. He is absolutely thriving. He’s a very grumpy boy and doesn’t want to be handled at all but that’s okay, you prepared me for that and I’m perfectly happy letting him do his thing and admiring him from afar. Thanks for all you do for the Cham community!!

Love this format! I usually listen to podcasts while doing chores, but couldn't help to sit back and enjoy watching the baby cham cam. Very relaxing.

Awesome video. What camera are you using for the Cham Cam?

Hi Bill. Great video as always. I wondered if I could ask you what kind of camera you are using for this baby Cham ? Also is it the kind that can be linked to a phone ? It seems to have the “zoom?” I’m looking for specifically for my tiny Tropicolotes steudneri. I’m also considering another for my female F pardalis. Thanx :)

Great idea for a podcast, do a parsons chameleon series next. That said, still waiting for you to get a group of true chameleons, the anoles.

Sir, why do female panther chameleon have short lifespan as compair to males?
@ChameleonAcademy
@ChameleonAcademy 8 ай бұрын
I don’t know that they do. Egg laying places a lot of stress on the female. It would be a more fair comparison if we looked at females that never laid eggs.
