We add a tablespoon of chia seed and a few berries in 1/2 cup of yogurt the night before and grab for breakfast the next day. After being in the yogurt over night the seeds don't stick in our teeth so much.

One of my most favorite on the go meals is a beef stick [the high-quality kind ;) ], olives, some kind of nut [usually soaked Brazil or pistachios], something fermented [carrots or cucs are easy], and a little cheese. If I'm really on top of things, I like to throw chicken breasts on the grill when I already have it on. I then cool, slice, and portion out the breasts into what works for me [2.5oz ... I'm smaller], and freeze. It's so easy to grab a little pack from the freezer and throw it into my lunch in place of the beef stick. It's thawed by the time I'm ready to eat it. Yogurt ... I can only handle a small amount at a time - even my homemade stuff from our cow [I make plain Greek yogurt]. I "wish" I could eat more of it in one sitting, because that sure would be convenient! I just put a few tablespoons into my smoothie.

Thank you, I only cook once or twice a week, this is what they do in restaurants ! Always prepare in advance, comes the dinner time, just put everything together, takes 5 minutes. Precook everything in weekends but to mix them up until you serve it! Simple .

I really enjoy your channel. That’s for all the great healthy ideas. Your snack dinner is my go-to lunch almost daily (unless I’m skipping lunch that day): pickles, olives, cheese, liverwurst or leftover meat from previous night’s dinner, nuts, and dark chocolate are a perfect lunch for me. I never get tired of it bc I’ll switch out types of cheese, olives, meat, and nuts.

I cook / prep once a week. Everything you need is in the fridge and you can heat it up if needed. Start out slow if you are a newbie. Your diet will evolve as you learn. Have a plan if you are not at home, like where, what, and when you eat. Set standards for yourself and stick with it

I really don't like cooking haha, for me my staples are boiked eggs, avocado, salmon cooked in the air fryer and easy meatballs. It's very little meal prep and super satisfying. I personally can't do yoghurt, it completely doesn't make me full and I get bloated. But the meal looks yummmm 🤓

Thank you for helping me be healthier Dr. Gillaspy! I watch/listen to you most days of the week. Fage' has been my yogurt of choice for the last decade or more - so good. I often cook my eggs over-medium then gently mix them into my salad instead of hard-boiling them. The soft yolk mixes with my oil, vinegar, golden (turmeric) paste, and spices as added dressing. Not everyone would like this, but I like over easy eggs, so it's perfect for me. Thank you for sharing solid, truly helpful information with us.

Dr. Becky I love your videos so much, always on point and packed with useful info! Although I don't have issues with weight and metabolic conditions and have pretty healthy habits, you and your videos inspire me to take them to another level with low carb nutrition. As a person who grew up in Balkans where full fat natural yoghurt/kefir is everyday staple food, I can't wrap my head around how sweetened fruit yoghurt is even a thing! 😅 Yoghurt in this part of the world is super delicious and refreshing, and while I know it is acquired taste for many people who are used to sweet versions, I encourage everyone to try and have it plain: soon you will be enjoying its refreshing and delicate acidity, mild saltines and flavours that come naturally with fermentation. 😋

How does someone with high cholesterol practice low-carb eating? I see diary as a big no-no for me as someone with high cholesterol, but it is a big component of low-carb eating plans. I have no other medical issues, but I worry about a large amount of cheese on these low-carb plans.

Not so sure about the yogurt, which is 9.5 net carbs and only 8.5 g fat. I have always understood that keto diet kind of requires more fat than carb in order to become fat adapted. I.e. keto isn’t just low carb, it’s the ratios. Also blowing almost 10g carb on one little snack (I wouldn’t call it a meal) seems like a not so great foundation. But I’m not an expert, and part of why I watch videos like this is to continually learn and revise my understanding.

You don't need to worry about your cholesterol. It's your triglycerides you need to worry about, and they will plummet when you quit eating too many carbs. Thank you for all your info and insight. Question though. In efforts to be healthier and control weight, i noticed these meals have high cholesterol and incredibly high sodium content, nearly 3000 mg of sodium. The AHA suggests no more than 1100-1500 for those with even mild hypertension. considering hypertension is by far one of the leading contributing factors to heart disease, how would one adjust a keto diet to fall inline with hypertension/cholesterol concerns?

Please read The Salt Fix. Great information about how the daily recommendations are TOO LOW and how they were made based on doctor’s opinions, not studies. Additionally, 55% of people with high blood pressure were not affected by higher sodium. The 45% that were should, of course, reduce it, but the others can actually cause more damage to their body (specifically their kidneys) by following the guidelines. It’s not the most well written book IMO but the data is drawn from MANY research studies.

The Great Cholesterol Myth is the next book I’ll be reading… can’t recommend it yet but I have read plenty of articles about how we have had that wrong too. New studies have shown it isn’t the level of cholesterol, it’s the ratio of one of the numbers (can’t remember which right now) to your triglycerides. Worth looking into!

Blueberries are way to high in carbs and sugar for a Keto meal. Watch that portion size! You still have to eat something the rest of the day. High sugar content kicks off carb/sugar cravings. Also, I assume you are buying hard boiled eggs already cooked? Wow that's a bit scary for me, I would boil my own. That would of course mean cooking right?
