Was running a little hot at Brands Hatch. So decided to make Kevlar cooling Duct to direct air toward the radiator.

You can fit some plastic/rubber car door edging/guard where the kevlar edge meets the aluminum. It will stop the kevlar from wearing a hole in the radiator if it vibrates from the wind. Great video. You have inspired me to try and start my own carbon projects. Thanks so much for sharing your build with the world.

Great suggestion but that’s extra weight! We don’t want that. I will monitor the wear. If it comes to it will address with some edging. And awesome to hear you will start carbon project!!!! Good luck

Rubber edging is actually almost a necessity as it serves a dual purpose, first off it provides a better seal with heat exchangers as it compensates for movement while driving and imperfections and secondly it provides reliability by not wearing down parts.

Great first start. Maybe try ducting it so that the opening size is about 25% of the radiator surface area. This will reduce frontal drag, and further improve air flow through the radiator by slowing the air down. You will need to curve the inner walls so that the air attaches itself as it flows inward to the corners of the radiator inside. This made a huge cooling difference on my turbo car with heat soak issues. I actually ducted the lower part for the intercooler with the rad behind and the upper where it is just the rad. Works great.

Top tips ….. Use a couple of layers of light woven glass first and let it cure . This goes into tight corners easier then rough the surface for the layers of Kevlar. Foam tape / draft excluder can be placed in between layers to stiffen edges and flat surfaces . For cheap fairly quick patterns and molds find suitable plastic boxes / pipe / alloy sheet . Cut these up and either tape them together and a cheap mold made off them with polyester / glass etc ( always wax or PVA unless it’s polypropylene or HDPE . ) For very complex/ complicated items This same method can be used to form intricate shapes to then be used in your mold / pattern manufacture . ALWAYS get into the habit of measuring and use accurate datum’s and work from a center line . This will give you symmetry and squareness If doing a similar project try and utilise the slam panel as a fixing point . Taping over this you can then use it as part of your mold / pattern and gives a superb professional fit ( use sheet wax to allow for product thickness if needed. ) All enjoyable stuff and good practical skills that once used will always come in handy in more ways than you may first realise. 🇬🇧👍

OK, so I have gone through 90% of your videos watching and being jealous of your composite skills 🤣, however the one thing I've been looking for that I can't find is info on your front crash bar setup, I am looking to do something similar in my K20 Clio, I don't suppose you have a video on it do you? Keep up the good work 😎

very inspiring as all of your video creations ! just a quick check, do you think that EL2 will hold well next to 100°C radiator ? I mean it will surely be no problem when there is very small contact area but this top mount portion will probably suffer a bit from heat off that water radiator don´t you think ? maybe just add some thin foam (like rohacell, you surely have lying around 😀 ) and cover it with that alu tape, that will surely insulate it just enough to not cause any issue 🙂 again great videos and big inspiratoin for use cheap ass people. Great to see it is possible to create almost top level motorsport parts in average garage, out of cardboard 😛
