it’s about whether you can be just a big a star outside your own community as you are in it and have music that crosses language boundaries and country lines into every age group. imo people who did that were the beatles, elvis and michael jackson. chris brown is def loved around the globe like most american artists but not even close to the extent mike was imo. and i’d argue that- not off talent- but just name recognition only, people around the world would recognize beyoncé’s name before they know who chris brown is, which is if we’re factoring in star power, means he can’t touch mike if beyoncé or let’s say britney spears is more beloved or known/respected than him globally michael jackson will be studied like mozart and bethoven, his fan base and global super stardom is etched into history, not to mention he made it big in the 70s/80s which is 1000000x harder than to make it big nowadays

There is one thing that will shut down all Micheal Joseph Jackson naysayers. Go to the Off The Wall Reissue CD. Listen to track 12 which is the original demo MJ created for Don't Stop Til You Get Enough. After you listen to it, read the liner notes which mention the household implements he used to create it. Then listen to the finished version in the following track. The genius it took to hear all of those parts and to create a crude demo that slaps without production using a spoon on a bottle. Chris Brown cannot music and produce a demo that easily translates to a production album. Chris uses a computer. Man, saddown somewhere!

CB is a black belt in marshal arts, can MJ even fight? CB is an above average acrobat, MJ only left the ground in a ✈️. MJ’s was an extraordinary music talent, CB is ridiculously talented in whatever he attempts. If we sticking strictly to music, Prince is more musically talented than anyone including MJ! Period

Michael Jackson sang "Who's Lovin You" at the age of 11. 11! His vocal range on this one song alone made me want to treat someone bad and lose them just so I could play this song. He had people passing out BEFORE the show started just by standing still on stage for 5 minutes. How dare Ryan Clark. There will never be another MJ...Jordan or Jackson. And on "We Are The World" he was BY FAR the best singer on the record with the most famous artists of the time! Let me get off my soapbox before I write a college level dissertation on this topic...

@@juiceloose2462 What does playing basketball have to do with talent, when you people are comparing Chris Brown to Michael Jackson. The answer is nothing, yet you and others continue to throw that up in your weak arguments. You can’t have it both ways. When you compare ANYONE to Michael Jackson, you also have to FOCUS on what made them famous, and not little inane things like playing basketball. Playing basketball is not what made Chris Brown famous and comparable to his idol, Michael Jackson. It was his DANCING and NOTHING else. No one has claimed that Chris was a great singer or vocalist. CB has some catchy songs that are memorable. He will never be considered as a great singer. Chris is a very versatile dancer who uses street dances to a great advantage.

Dance is the ONLY category that Chris Brown and MJ should EVER be compared in. Chris has the flips and other freestyle elements that you could argue sets him apart from MJ. However, MJ's dance was literally a form of true art from the robot, moonwalk, Smooth Criminal lean, Thriller dance....I just ugh people need to stop with this comparison crap because it is ridiculous to even have this conversation. I remember an old R&R episode where Do was all Chris Brown is better than Usher, but Kev's defense was name ONE album of Chris' that is on the level of Confessions. Chris is kind of like Drake in that the dude can pump out hit singles. However, go through his ENTIRE discography of albums and there isn't one that is a 'I can't skip a single song' album. You can't tell me Chris has an album that could go against Bad. Thriller and Off The Wall are not on the table because that would just be too brutal for Chris to be compared to HAHA and that's not saying Bad is 'bad' since it had 5 Number 1s!

I'm late but, must correct you...Michael WROTE most of his hits: Billie Jean, Beat It, Wanna Be Starting Something, Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, Lady of My Life, Bad, Heartbreak Hotel, Black & White, Remember The Time, Rock With You, Working Day & Night, Pretty Young Thing.... list is too long to continue. MJ is in the SONGWRITER'S HALL OF FAME and THE DANCE HALL OF FAME. There are more than 25 statues of Michael Jackson erected around the world and these were before he passed. Don't compare anyone to him. And l LOVE both Chris and Beyonce. Beyonce does not sell out stadiums like MJ did...c'mon. MJ sold out stadiums 10 x over. Enjoyed your commentary.

The thing about about Michael is that his music can he played at any function no matter the age, race, religious. beliefs, or setting. Baby shower, weddings, graduation, birthday party, heck even church event. Everyone can relate to his music because it takes about a wide range of topics. Chris Brown music is only relatable to a certain demographic. Everyone can't relate to his music because most of the time it is very sexual and one dimensional. The majority of his fans are black millennial and I can't see him selling out stadiums unless there were other artist performing with him. "Wall to wall" "Excuse me miss" "Don't judge me" "Look at me now" Etc. And he's definitely one of those artists whose been revered by every generation after him. Even the babies. I don't find being empathetic strange at all. We're already in a sad state, in the world, with individualistic thinking. We shouldn't ever move through the world only thinking of things that affect us. We should look out for our neighbors, and help strangers, and champion causes that may not personally affect us. So, empathy is important. HOWEVER, going after people nastily, in the name of someone else is wrong. Hateful language is wrong. That is the problem I see. People can't respectfully have dialogue. And the internet is a breeding ground for misery loving company, which is the biggest shame.

Chris Brown is a jack of all trades and master of none . MJ was a perfectionist. Virtually everything he did was prefect . His albums stand the test of time , great song writer and wrote for others as well . He reinvented music videos, artists before and after him all followed how music videos should be created . He was a great vocal arranger and dance choreographer. He was great singer one of the best tenors ever. His one of the masters of the rafters. CB couldn't sing the highest parts of 'she ain't you' which is basically a sample of human nature . He had to get a woman to sing the highest parts mJ sang with ease . MJ mastered his talents and probably had more hidden talents that people may not have been aware of . He only showed some and those that he perfected and wanted us to see . Quality over quantity, something CB should learn to do. CB is basic , barely decent actor and singer . His not in anyones list of best actors or anyone best artist turned actor. Queen Latifah , Jamie fox , Will smith , 2 Pac and many others have him beat . His not in anyones top 10 singers of all time not even if you just limit it to rnb or pop male singers. Mj is many peoples top 10 singers whether it's pop, rnb or Best tenors and falsettos . CB isn't in the song writers category either. None of Chris brown's albums are in the 10 top pop or rnb albums all of time . The only thing CB is the one of best category for is dancing and that's it . To be master talented in all fields , is to be like queen Latifah. She's mastered virtually everything she's in and got the awards . Same with Whoopi Goldberg with her EGOT. Jamie Foxx got his awards in different fields . CB is talented however he isn't Uber talented as tank , joe other people are claiming . They shouldn't put him in the same category as MJ . Saying CB is more talented than MJ is muppet behavior and should be encouraged.

@@akeem2752 Yeah but his music is not based on MJ at all. Pay respect to the King of R&B.

Michael Jackson only competition was his sister Janet. People forget that his sister at one point was the highest paid musical act in HISTORY. Rhythm Nation was HUGE. Control was groundbreaking...she even influenced her brother to switch up his sound. I love Beyonce down, she is definitely the standard today but its not giving Michael Jackson.

Here's the thing...a lot of folks pick up "the new Michael Jackson" or "the new Michael Jordan" just to start arguments. My thing is the fact that you have to FIND a NEW one answers all the questions. 🎤

Angels statement about vibe vs experience was on point, but I think Usher’s Confessions album was an experience!
