Hey sub family, You can replace a failing ignition coil fairly easily at home, but Ignition coil packs are manufactured in such a way that they could last the lifetime of the vehicle, but due to failure of improper maintenance your vehicle can cause them to fail Much earlier. They usually fail between 120,000 to 150,000 miles or between 5 to 7 years. Also when spark plugs wear down, the gap in each spark plug is widened meaning the coil needs to provide a higher voltage in order to bridge the gap. This additional strain on the ignition coil may cause voltage overload leading to overheating and eventually failure. So if you have an older vehicle thats 18 years old or older, then I most certainly recommend you change out your old Ignition Coil with a new one. [I would recommend you to get a NGK ignition Coil] - The NGK Ignition Coil will significantly improve gas mileage and Performance.
