From your first video shooting the bolts from the HDR 50, I too pondered shooting an arrow followed by balls. I haven't tried this (hint hint), but I figured one could take a regular magazine and grind down one spur (allowing for the mechanical rotation) so the cylinder won't rotate when an arrow is loaded. Then after shooting the arrow, manually rotate the mag to its next detent position allowing for shooting the remaining loaded balls. Enjoy your work BTW and have purchased from your sponsors stores. 👍👍👍

After seeing the effects of these arrows compared to other projectiles, I'm feeling as if companies should lean heavy into these... Getting more penetration with a stock 11 Joule gun than I've seen with tricked out carbine versions of the HDR68... Maybe design a with a large six round cylinder so long you can chamber six of these bad boys at once? A pepperbox arrow launcher.
@MrDokturp
@MrDokturp Жыл бұрын
The only part of those arrows that touches barrel is the back cup. Those go though unguided and can point slightly off axis, which only gets worse after arrow starts to leave barrel. I believe there should by a sabot guide made from 2 halves somewhere in the middle of those arrows that would fall off after leaving the barrel. This should keep the arrows aligned with barrel axis and improve accuracy.

It's a front to back weight distribution of the arrow/bolt issue. A lack of forced direction/barrel length. Flat head is also directing the arrow as if it was a fetching. The arrow comes out of the barrel not 100% completely straight because of lack of forward support. The heavy rear is pushing the unstable un directed front that is wanting to choose its own direction.

Now that is what I call a Longfellow. "I shot an arrow into the air, it fell to earth, I knew not where . . . ." Those arrows look very intimidating, especially the broad heads. For an arrow to fly straight, they need a wider tail like the feathers used in a regular arrow. That could be accomplished in the .68 caliber, but not the .50 as they load butt end first. Oh, I checked the link for the ballistic dummies. Unfortunately, they are not available. They must have hightailed it out of there once they heard what you did to one of their brothers 😨. You come up with some great ideas. I look forward to that 45 Bushbuck review. Now that thing looks extremely powerful. Oh, please use the Spaghetti-Os for this. I would love to see them totally annihilated big time 😁.

I think the bolts are not sitting properly inside the barrel.They should also have a sabot guide sleeve on the bolt midway up it to keep the bolt sitting perfectly in the centre and sitting straight for straight flight. There is nothing to guide them to fly straight like from a crossbow guide rail.

I have a arrow question.... Can you keep reusing the arrows ?? Or once fired with the g🔫n that's it ??
@AirgunAlley
@AirgunAlley Жыл бұрын
Good question! It really depends on what you hit. If you’re shooting hard stuff, they’re a one time deal. Otherwise you should be able to reuse them. The broad heads are a bit more delicate than the field heads…

I think those bolts would be better in an H.D.S-68 or get a steam-bow stinger A.R-6 repeating pistol crossbow, one of the best on the market. Not very good for pistol launchers! Awesome shooting test bro!

However, I’m glad to have an extra one as I have plans for future videos :) I also like to keep the standard parts as I think it serves a wider audience, who simply shoot their guns as they come out of the box :)

Just ordered those broadheads for my cobra pistol crossbow that's ungraded with stock, laser, sight, and 140ib prod (up from 80ib) Ive used the normal aluminium one's but found the upgraded power was too much that it just threw them like a toddler having a tantrum lol. But those plastic ones ive used too and are much better and absolutely fly! And the tips are far sharper. The aluminium ones might look better, but actually the plastic one's seem to fire the best. Am looking forward to the broadheads coming- but i am worried i can only load them horizontally (as i read one of your comments that this is bad for accuracy. )

Nice man. Thanks a lot for the input - very interesting food for thoughts! I’ll be shooting them again soon, will study closely the difference between the plastic vs the aluminum field heads. Hope you enjoy them!

You sure the cobra is safe with a 140lb limb? I just got the 80lbs Anglo arms op360 which has the stock already, But I don't think I'd trust the abs plastic build quality with a higher power limb, what string did you fit?, I definitely get more penatration with the alloy bolts than the plastic ones, Got some of the alloy broadheads coming from AliExpress as well lol same ones as in this video.

@@coaldust01 I added an 3d printed stock at the back. It is a hell of a job to cock, and is an absolute maverick. Sometimes chucking bolts like a toddler having a tantrum, but provided it all goes smooth- it kicks like a mule. Not recommended and probably dangerous, but good fun. I have a fully kitted adder and vlad also with higher power limbs etc

@@orderofmagnitude-TPATPyeah, I think I'll leave mine at 80lb lol, I've see the adder Rx, Very nice, I like the fact that you just cock it and ready to fire again, I like the look of the ek archery hex 400 210lbs, I bet that has some power but it's probably huge.
