Even though I have no intention of buying a kingroon, I'm absolutely loving this series. Quality content and I thank you for the time and effort you put in this. Can't wait for the next video!

Great stuff - very helpful. I'm a noob with an Ender 5, so I'd be interested in seeing this kind of stuff for a cubic-type body, but even so, this really helped me open my mind to how to work on the 5. Thanks!

Excellent informative series on the Kingroon. First time I'd heard of it thanks to your review. Looks to be a potentially very interesting machine - with some tweaks and mods! Thanks for taking the time to put these vids together. Subbed :-)

Most other videos I saw were nothing but positive. Once you get it dialed in it prints better than the prusa mini. I just ordered one 5 minutes ago on ebay for 105 dollars refurbished.

@@GoranMilici I now have 3 of them (the KP3S with the transparent Titan) Originally I bought two Ultimaker 2+ years back and lately an Ender3 V2 to play with. You know what? My go-to every time are the little KP3S they're such superb machines and beat my vastly more expensive ultimakers in quality. But do be prepared to do a little "tweaking" to them. You won't be dissapointed! Excellent purchase, happy printing :-)

Alex, my savior! Today after more than one year with bad filament cooling I was able to adapt a good shroud in my printer. Suddenly some strange lines at certain heights began appearing and then I remembered something from your KP3 videos... Bang....bang....hotbed... Man, at the time I saw the video I though, that's nonsense, Alex is overreacting to some small detail, but this really is a thing! If you haven't talked about it I'd be like crazy right now! Thanks! This shows that the better you get to printing, more of the details matter!

I'm guessing the final video is not going to be realeased? I hope it is because you took the time to detail the various challenges this has. I would love to see how, once overcome, a budget printer can become a reliable machine. Thanks!

15:24 The reason it matter that Kingroon should release the firmware, even though theirs is very old, is that they modified it and those modifications should be contributed back to the open source project. In this case it is the LCD controls that matter because their LCD runs its own firmware.

i re-calibrated the e-steps from 98 to 107 then the titan extruder decided to slow down and now its spitting out 20mm when i tell it to extrude 100mm with pronterface. i reset to factory and noticed all the settings were different from where they were before calibrating so im certain its all out of whack now. trying to decide if i should just return the printer and have a fresh start instead of trying to fix this.

Alex, my printer is a complete work in progress. (please note that I speak of the printer that I designed and built myself) Needless to say, I am always making changes to it. At one point I had to modify the acceleration values because I was using some pretty "bottom of the barrel" stepper motors. I have nothing special really going on with my X,Y axis. That is to say, I do not believe they are heavier or lighter than most "standard" printers out there today. I recently added new (much stronger and higher quality) stepper motors to X and Y, and I have been thinking that I should review the Maximum Feedrate and Maximum Acceleration values in Marlin 2.0... What would you recommend as decent starting values? Just a jumping off point that I can modify up or down if needed.

Hello everyone. I dont know if you or someon else can help me, i bought this week this model with titan extruder and its my first 3d printer. I have problem with Z axis because is not at 90º and the motors go like crazy when i try leveling bed... i dont know if they are going to oposit direction and forcing at the end their axys.

One quick question, could you put a skr mini e3 board on this? And what kind of things would you have to do with the firmware? Also I do have a tft35
@Nandox7
@Nandox7 3 жыл бұрын
That point of the layer height, I'll try but not too convinced. Most commonly used is 0.2 that is a already a multiple of 0.04. Using 0.16 is just making smaller layers on Z axis.

Hi Alex as an engineer, i find it very refreshing to get a youtube 3d printing (and other) channel with more depth. I am thinking of preloading some cheap carriages for a project and wondered about ball size for preload - do you have knowledge of what Hiwin or others use for various pre-load settings? (maybe formulae, tables, or % oversize?)
@AlexKenis
@AlexKenis 3 жыл бұрын
I'll show a little in the next video, but I don't have the actual spec from the carts they copied for these cheapies. I did find a reference in a competitor's sheet to the amount of negative clearance for their preload, so if I can find that again, i'll mention it. basically I ordered looser diameter tolerance bearings from mcmaster carr and sorted them out with a micrometer until I found some that are slightly oversized. Even thr loosest tolerance bearings were reeeeally close though, so I did manage to preload the carts a BIT, but not much. It's a cringey, but I had a bear of a time getting the cart on with the slightly larger bearings in, so I ended up loading about half the bearings into the cart, sliding it partially onto the rail, and then feeding in the rest of the bearings one by one. Plan B was to freeze them. I also ordered some ceramic bearings that are slightly 0.02mm larger to try out, but they will not arrive for a while (coming from aliexpress) so I cant say yet if they will work .

@@AlexKenis Might be worth making a jig to auto sort those. Something like a coin sorter with a screw to adjust the spacing between to plates to be the right size anything to large would skip past anything to small would pass through. Dump them over it 2 times to get the correct size by excluding the under/over sized ones. Especially if your testing multiple brands & types and putting them in a google doc to save others the frustrations. also remember to mind the gap.
