★★★►►► THIS IS NOT A RECIPE. ◄◄◄★★★
This is KitchenAid's brand new addition to their commercial lineup:
The KSMC895ER. It is a 1.3 HP stand mixer with lots of power.
This model is NSF certified. This simply means that this product
adheres to higher industry guidelines, in terms of both safety and build quality. - these characteristics are present in this unit.
It has a huge 8 quart mixing bowl, and also sports a stainless steel
bowl guard.
3 attachments come with this KitchenAid stand mixer, and they
are all stainless steel:
★► whip
★► spiral dough hook
★► flat beater
You also get a stainless steel ingredient feeder, which allows you
to effortlessly add ingredients to your bowl, if the bowl is already in place on the stand mixer.
I'll do a very quick unboxing of this brand new mixer and show you what it included in the box.
★★★►►► For FUN ONLY ◄◄◄★★★
I weigh all 3 attachments and show you how massive they are
vs the attachments that are included in retail models.

Thanks for the info! Looks like it may be a big improvement over KitchenAid's previous largest consumer models. I will be watching to see how well it works for you in the kitchen. I managed to burn out the gear boxes on three older machines making bread dough, admittedly working close to capacity. Gave up on them because the gears went out (expensive repair!) rather than the machine simply stopping with heavy loads.
@BakeLikeAPro
@BakeLikeAPro 9 жыл бұрын
davidhenry32 Hi there, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. KitchenAid has seemed to wake up and smell the coffee in some of their recent models, reverting to metal gears, as they used to use 25 years ago. In recent years they started using plastic gears ( info I knew, but this was also confirmed by a KitchenAid support person I spoke with a few weeks ago ). The problem with any of these machines is knowing their limit. If you kind of know the flour limit, stay clear of it and you'll have far fewer problems with it. IF you really love making bread, you should look at the Electrolux DLX 2000 mixer. I own one, and have a few videos on my channel using it. It is a tank in terms of power and build quality and still will beat any KitchenAid mixer into the ground. It can mix a whopping 20 cups of flour ( supposedly ) at one time - I have NOT tested it to this capacity though. I don't like costly repairs so always err on the side of caution when using mixers. Thanks again for watching :-) and your comment too.

Great review! I own the ProLine 7 qt which has the same DC motor, all metal gears, and 1.3 HP as the 8 qt. I did upgrade to stainless steel dough hook, beater, Pour shield, and obtained the flex edge beater as well. I chose the 7 qt over the 8 because the 7 qt has a 5 year warranty and the 8 has a 2 year warranty. Ether way these mixers are the bomb! The only other DC motor w/ all metal gears is the Artisan Mini...

Thanks for watching ! I'm glad KA finally decided to go back to metal gears. They had so many models for many years that were failing terribly. You can see this on many of the baker forums over the past 10 years. Plastic gears were just a poor choice. I'm not sure now in 2022 if KA has decided to go with metal gears in *all* models again. I'm enjoying this bigger mixer and I'm glad you are enjoying yours too ! Thanks for visiting my channel ! 🙂

Amazing. I had lost my faith in KitchenAid but seeing this I'm glad to see they still make a torque-ey and quiet powerful mixer like the old days. You have to pay the price for this model but I'm thinking its the type you only have to buy once. It's quiet and it won't bog down.

@@russ5024 guess I missed your question I apologize. I will respond now. I lost faith because some of them are outright noisy and I heard they changed to plastic gears, etc. Even on some TV production cooking shows they have to zone out the noise coming from them. Years ago you didn't need to buy a commercial model to have similar quality for normal home use. This one is over the top for me size-wise for me, but I like it.
@praisingann4him
@praisingann4him 2 жыл бұрын
@@UnkleAL1962 they changed to plastic gears in the 4.5 and 5 qt artisan series. Also in the bowl lift 5 and 6 qt. The Artisan Mini, Pro 6500 bowl lift, Proline 7 qt blow lift, and Commercial 8 qt have all metal gears. They did release their passion red 100 year Artisan 5 qt, in all metal gears. I had that one and it struggled. I think that is because of the AC motor. So 2 things- check the motor- AC or DC, then the gears- all metal or not. The DC motors are the Artisan Mini, 7 qt proline, and 8 qt commercial.

I have a big question for you, is it worth it for the amount of money to get this 8 qt mixer if you already have the 6 qt pro.You've had it for a while and used it, firstly, can you remove the guard and the mixer will still work?Then is the deep bowl a problem for cleaning up the batter?I would appreciate your input ASAP as there is a 1 day sale going on and I'd really like the best opinion I can get. Any trouble spots? Do you have any other bowls that will fit this machine? Thanks.

I noticed that my HD550 attachments and bowl are interchangeable. I am not so sure that the 8 quart bowl adds any benefit for my breadmaking endeavors, as the higher volume may just climb up the hook? (untested yet) Although I am changing the gears and then selling my 550HD, I am tempted to get another bowl like it has. The high bowl limits accessibility, and the jury is still out on the cage as well. I may remove it.
@BakeLikeAPro
@BakeLikeAPro 8 жыл бұрын
This is a commercial model, because they have marketed it as such, the cage by law is a must. If used in a commercial kitchen, safety must be taken into account, so I can't really comment on the cage, but yes, it can be removed. If you want a very powerful machine for bread making, you may wish to take a look at the Electrolux DLX2000. It can use 20 cups of flour in a single recipe, according to the company info. This machine goes by many names now, but it easily found. I do have a video or 2 on my channel using it. It's a tank in terms of power. Here is a video of me making pizza in it : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ns6ea5iTtMm3c30.html ---- I've made a double batch of dough using 6 cups of flour and haven't experienced dough coming up the dough hook, not sure if you saw that video, but you may wish to watch it to see if you like it or not.

The KSM "8990" model has a steel plate underneath right where the accessory-shaft is, where you add your attachments. (It's part of the motor arm that goes over the bowl area. Does the KSM C895 model (the one you have here in this video), ALSO have this same metal plate, or is it just the color red under there? (Also the pics in this video doesn't allow me to see that particular area, as it is mostly an aerial viewpoint).

Thx for your video. I have the same mixer. I had no idea what the 'ingredient feeder' was and still don't know how to use it. Where can I find some more info on it? Maybe do a quick vid showing what you would use it for? Thanks.
@BakeLikeAPro
@BakeLikeAPro 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Fred, oh I just replied to the other one first and now am seeing this one. Ah so you have already purchased this mixer. Ok, well I guess you are continuing to experiment with it. That ingredient feeder is very simple, you connect it to the bowl cage as you see me doing here in this video, and simply pour your ingredients in this way. I honestly have not used it, as I have no use for it. I open the cage and do it like one would normally add their ingredients. I understand your concern about the cage though, if you wish to add ingredients WHILE the machine is working, ... you must pour into the feeder or through the cage. The mixer will not work when the cage is up ( for those who may be reading this and wondering ) .
@ClubFred6
@ClubFred6 8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your replies. Where do you get your information on this so called 'ingredient feeder'? Is this the official name from Kitchen Aid? I cannot find anything about it anywhere else. I reviewed your video again to see if I was missing something, because the first time I saw it (in your demonstration), it didn't look like there was enough of an angle to pour dry goods like flour or anything really. So, I tried with mine. Hooking it where you suggest, requires me to even lift the cage slightly for it to rest on the bowl, and it is flush at best, if not angled slightly backwards. This is also with the bowl in the lower position. This does not work for me at all, firstly because its not angled enough, secondly, because I would be adding ingredients with the bowl lowered, in which case, I may as well turn it off and lift the cage to add ingredients. I can see a use for an ingredient feeder with this cage that functions while the machine is in motion. For example, when I am making bread, I often hold back 1/2 cup of flour and finish the dough by adding slight bits of flour just until the dough no longer sticks to the bowl. I tried placing this elsewhere, and I have found a few spots that would work, however, it does not feel nicely designed at all, and surely not anything like any other attachment that I have from Kitchen-Aid. This leads me to believe I am missing something, and thus my query. I placed it higher, and moved it around a bit. It never seems to settle in perfectly without the hooks being raised on one side or another. I found one spot that wold work great and it would lock in really well, if it had a slight groove on the bottom center, to straddle a vertical wire of the cage. I would really like to get to the bottom of this, and would like to see a video of this in use, and/or an answer from Kitchen Aid directly.
@ClubFred6
@ClubFred6 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, its a consideration. One might argue its actually less important with the 8 quart bowl, considering the side is much higher than the 5.5 and the hook size is the same. That means you have less chance to become entangled. Weird that the rules are more restrictive for commercial use (where professionals are more to be found than in home use. Anyhow, that doesn't answer my question of what that thing is for and how to use it properly.

@BakeLikeAPro

This is a commercial mixer. This means the bowl protector should not ever be removed. The safety of employees is number 1. I'd have to check the mixer, but I"m sure it could be removed for home use.

You cannot attach accessories to the front hub- the cage is in the way- I tried to install my slicer attachment- cage would not let the shaft insert completely into hub. So if this is important get the model without the cage- I exchanged mine for the one without cage. The cage should have been made removable- for the accessories as well as for cleaning

+Ed Smith I am glad you told me that. Too late for me, but it's good for others to know. Thankfully I'm in a position that I own many KitchenAid mixers, so I don't have this problem, but that's not great news. You would think they would have thought of this.

Thank you for the great video. Have you figured out whether the bowl guard is removable? After using this mixer, which is great btw, I came to dislike the guard. It is so time consuming to clean and being unable to remove it and rinse it out, I feel like it’s never completely clean! If I would have known this, I would have bought a different unit.

Hi Sue 🙂 Somehow I missed your question, I'm sorry about that. The bowl guard comes off, and it comes off very easily. There are 2 screws ( one on each side ) a small screwdriver is all that is needed and it comes on in seconds. I hope this helps. Yeah without it, it's kind of nice, just easier to use. Thanks so much for watching ! 😊

charlotte russell-spirrell Hi Charlotte, gee, I had no idea that KitchenAid machines were so expensive there. This model retails for $970, according to the currency exchange at this time, that equals 609 British pounds. Very expensive. - and that's a direct exchange rate from American dollars to British pounds. I now wonder what a local retailer is selling this for, I'm going to guess it's even higher than that. That stings though Charlotte :-(

Hello, Thank you for the video very informative. I am looking to buy a Kitchen aid. I dont bake but we just bought a new house with a fab kitchen and I am looking to re invent myself as a chef over the next 10 years. Convential wisdom would say that I should stick to the Artisan model because they are more entry level and let's admit it prettier . This said, whenever I buy something a bit pricey I like to know that it's future proof and will handle whatever I throw at it. I am worried that other models will make it a drag to use because they are struggle with dense dough (should I discover that bread making is my calling!) or because it's too loud. I am therefore thinking on investing on 6.9L Professional 5KSM7990X. Very expensive but I have saved for that. Bulky but our kitchen is big enough. I am just wondering whether I am trying to fly because learning to walk or am I right that one lifetime investment in a beautiful machine that will not let me know and be quiet is the way to go? Any advice would be very much appreciated! :)

Hello, if you want a machine that will breeze through bigger recipes, then this one here is the way to go. I own many KA mixers, and they are all great. One of them I've had for about 25 years or so, and it still works like it is brand new. I've never changed anything on it. Take care of your mixer, listen to it, if you think it's over-working, then stop doing that large of a recipe. If you want to do a lot of bread baking, you should also check out the DLX2000 by Electrolux ( I have videos on my channel ) this machine will work 20 cups of flour at a time ( according to the company ) - it is built like a tank and will outperform the Kitchen Aid in my opinion. That said, if you are concerned, go with the bigger model. I would go to a baking supply store and look at the models in real life. This machine in this video is big, very big when you put it up beside the regular size KA models. Good luck ! 🙂

BTW, the DLX-2000 mixer goes by many different names, when I bought mine it was the DLX-2000 then it changed names, to something more "catchy". Some of the names are "Magic Mill " another one is "Ankarsrum Stand Mixer, also known as the Electrolux, DLX, Magic Mill Assistent " ( notice the spelling, that's not a typo, that's how they spell it for some reason ) ---> Perfect Pizza Dough Recipe in Electrolux DLX 2000 Mixer kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hJqPhb2K2re3c2g.html
