Knife Making: Small EDC Fixed Blade knife

In todays Episode of Wengels Workshop I make a full tang fixed blade knife from 1075 High Carbon Steel. The knife is acid etched and stone washed and the scale are made from a green burlap micarta. Thanks for watching please feel free to ask any questions in the comments below.

stunning knife , love it. just subscribed. did you use a clamp to grind the plunge line ? and does the quenching oil have to be hot ? (hopefully not , i heard someone say yes it needs to be ?) oh and when can i buy that scribing stencil from ? a lot of questions i know sorry. i will look at your other videos maybe a micarta making one ? and the angle iron jig , kind regards ian uk.

Ferric Chloride. there is some linked in the description but i believe it is out of stock. you could see what it looks like though.

May I ask what drill bit do you use to mark the center line? I assume it's half the thickness of the material?

Generally one just a little thicker than the steel or one a little thinner. You want 2 lines that are a bit less than a dime apart. I usually pull the whole set of drill bits out and mark until I get the right bit.

Unfortunately no it's just something I drew up on paper and never uploaded or anything. You can find plenty of templates online. If not and you draw one yourself. Just cut it out of the wood first and make sure it feels decent in the hand before you make the knife. Good luck!
