So basically it's Country Province, city within province (si) District inside province (gu), street/boulevard name, building #, Unit # Name of person/company sending mail to Postal code

This is very useful information when sending mail across the pond. Very helpful for us who have never mailed outside North America. Side note when in the US when dealing with online services South Korea will most likely not be a choice it will be the Republic of Korea.

5:30 AM was way too fucking early in the morning to try and understand this. BUT, very interesting. I will agree with Haeppy that my biggest "holy crap places are different!" moment came when I saw a Japanese address for the first time. They use the beonji system in Japan as well.

Germany: name of person/company sending mail to street/boulevard name, unit# postal code City (consisting of five numbers; every district in the city has its own postal code, but usually first 2~3 numbers stay the same, every postal code is unique) country as an example (I made that one completly up) Max Mustermann Fuchsstraße, Nr. 5 10476 Berlin Deutschland

dude living in Beijing, Korea's address system TOTALLY makes sense to me (ironically i had to flip a lot of it in mandarin to better understand the parts haha), especially dealing with the neighborhoods and the different "units" (units [单元]not necessarily the actual room#) within the building. omg.... nostalgic chuckle of the days when the addresses drove me berserk. haha good times

This would of been so helpful last year when my friends and I were in Korea. We got so confused trying to find places trying to order McDonald's via the app it was a mess lol but this is so easy to understand.

Easy. This is how you define Korean address: Province name, city or town name, district name, suburb name, block name, block #, house # finally Unit #. Yes I know. It's very confusing as Korea don't use Street or road

I don't know how, but Gao Su Gong Lu also means highway in Chinese as well, so it is almost like you are saying Go Sok Do Ro.

Speaking of addresses, something I forgot to say a loong ass time ago. When you guys package and ship the stickers, you should write the address on the envelope before putting the stickers in it. Otherwise well... my zip code is etched into the top three stickers/10 XD I don't have a problem with it, but some might ^^ just a tip anyways.

I have a question.. If I send something to someone in Korea, from outside of Korea, do I write the address in hangul, romanized or both? (Btw, such a great and useful video, thank you!!)

In India, it's like- *number and letter assigned to the house and area respectively* *Area name* *Special landmark* *City name* Mine goes like -5 A Gurukul colony, near MJ college, Jalgaon. But the best thing in India, there is no prescribed format and people pretty much modify the addresses according to their comfort.

This is definitely one I appreciate as a snail mail enthusiast! Still not quite confident enough to send a letter within Korea; getting there! T_T I also heard they're trying hard to phase out that old system and it shouldn't be used? Also curious about stamps. >> Never thought a mail system could be so intimidating lol

I live here and it STILL confuses me. Sometimes you try and put in your address for delivery and I have idea what format they want me to use. For Kakao taxi I have to make sure 서울특별시 is just 서울 but then for other things they need the new address... it's so confusing 😫

I never knew all of the names for roads or why they were different. And they had just changed the format of the addresses so that was confusing.

asian languages are hard, one word can have 5 different meanings but i get it. it's like the uk postal service but SKorea is more complicated

English is the same. They're called homonyms. What's even worse is... in English, the same word can mean the opposite meanings like: peruse, bad, buckle, clip, consult, handicap, etc. English is one of the most difficult languages to learn for a non-native speaker hahahah

Lord...the addresses always trip me up. I get so confused and anxious filling out forms that require my address now, especially if they are forms for foreign countries....I'm never sure what order to put my address in...do I write in the English alphabet or Korean? etc...I get so confused...

Thanks lol I guess I just get tripped up when websites use the western style of entering addresses (street number then name then city and state, zip code country etc.)...I get confused as to where to enter what info...I would guess that the city=구 and state=province? I think that's how I've entered it before...luckily I don't order things often, but I just get confused when I do
