Texas BBQ is brisket with a dry rub. Sauce maybe added later at the table. What they had was Tennessee BBQ. It looked like pork ribs. Texas Ribs are done with beef ribs. The beef rib is thick and longer. You know Cow size. The major BBQ types are Texas, Tennessee, North carolina and South Carolina. Texas is beef the other 3 are pork. That is for the most authentic BBQ from each region, also each region has a style of sauce/dry rub. Also the type of wood they use for fire. BBQ in the USA is defined as low and slow. it take hours to BBQ. BBQ is not cooking. it's is smoking is more of a art form. Professional chef are not masters of BBQ they have to learn that as a passion. Korean BBQ is considered Grilling; hot and fast over an open fire. Korean BBQ is BBQ from Korea. It about the prep. Okay I put the primer here so when the Actually start coming in people will have a reference.

Coleslaw is typically finer and has a lot of mayo in it. This had zero. So I hope they don't draw their conclusions about coleslaw from this. Generally with BBQ the typical sides are mac N cheese or fried/grilled corn on the cob. The people that made this most likely didn't even slow smoke it. Typically southern BBQ is cooked very slow at low temperatures for 12+ hours. Basically Texan BBQ the meat would have straight up fell off the bone.

Good barbecue might be easier to find in Korean than LA or Chicago. Seoul alone has at least three places that are way better than anything I've found in Illinois. Problem with Korean place sis, they all seem to have exactly the same menu and style - ribs all have the same basic sauce, every place will have a brisket, chicken, pulled pork in basically the same presentation. Some may be better than others, but it's like they copied what was successful instead of sampling from a broader selection of American style.

I hear that if you go to a Texas BBQ place and ask for BBQ sauce for your meat, then you're like a sissy who can't handle meat as it is. But what kind of BBQ doesn't have BBQ sauce? Are you pro or anti-BBQ sauce?
@Hermititis
@Hermititis 3 жыл бұрын
@@Kingdom_Of_Dreams , it's not that you're a sissy, it's that here in Texas it's mostly dry rub BBQ, so it's already seasoned. In Texas, it's considered the mark of a great BBQ (especially a brisket or ribs) that it should be moist and flavorful enough that it doesn't NEED sauce (though you can add it if you want).

@@Kingdom_Of_Dreams , it can be! Lockhart is a good BBQ town in Texas. You can put BBQ sauce or BBQ here, but it's kinda of like putting ketchup or A1 on a steak. P.S. sauce is good for sandwiches, because for BBQ you want the blandest bread...basically a flavor sponge that doesn't compete with the meat, like sliced white bread or burger buns. Those stick to your teeth and are kinda dry though, so you add sauce.

Yeah, but my memory of the one American BBQ place in Seoul (there have been videos about it from other channels) is that it's actually, by necessity, a hybrid of most of the American styles. So there's pork ribs, pulled pork, brisket, smoke sausage, etc., and most of the expected sides, at one place. I believe it's quite expensive though, so they really only bought one protein, except the sole little tiny sausage we didn't even hear much about, and one real side, plus I guess fries.
