PART 3 -- Focused on the Wiring, dash, GPS installation, and final assembly as well as a lighting test -- See what it takes to do a full rally tower installation on a KTM 500EXC to turn it into a super capable ultralight adventure bike (and it could be used as a rally bike too). The Nomad ADV tower gives the bike over 6000 lumens of LED lighting, a place for accessory power/switches/navigation and uses a 450RR Rally fairing to tame the wind at speed.

I wouldn’t want to bet the farm on those Posi-Taps. I’ve experiences on several occasions where the wires were zip tied down and the vibrations were strong enough to undo those taps. I disconnected all of my Posi’s and found better solutions.

I could see that, no issues with it yet. Maybe Ill throw a dot of superglue on there to keep it threaded, thats the only one on the whole bike. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for sharing. It was really helpful. I couldn't understand from the video how is the high beam low beam diagram. Nomad adv mention a switch to ACC2. I cannot find ACC2 source in a 450 2023.

Not sure man, the 17 500 and 23 are different bikes, but I think it ended up just running mine off the large, fused power lead I ran from the battery. But I can’t remember it’s been a while

I’d say that you did a bang up job putting that Rally kit together 👍🏾. The only part I think was a shame was with the turn stops. You mentioned in the video that you didn’t think that having to pull those bolts out would make that much of a difference for the type of riding that you would be doing, but those millimeters of difference make a huge difference in the turning radius for off track riders. Motocross guys and the like don’t necessarily need the full turn radius. If you’ve ever been on some of those tight as hell U-Turn switchbacks and can’t get that wheel turned full lock then you’ll know what I mean 😭. I guess I’ll have to figure something out because I ride with both of my turn stop screws removed entirely.

I totally agree, I meant for this particular bike which was built for adventures, double track and fire roads. On my single track bike I pull them. You'd be hard pressed to find a double track switchback on this thing that you would actually notice the steering stops. Can't win them all! If I wanted to do something that was both single track and ADV bike I would have gone with the Twalcom rally extreme light for this. Easily removable, super light and good lighting + a spot to put a ram mounted 610 GPS.

Or just put the Acerbis headlight on the bike with an Adventure spec mini fairing. Definitely a far easier install!! haha

What brand of USB volt meter are you using? Is it some el cheapo generic unit, or some name brand waterproof high end unit?

Cheapo generic, but filled with clear liquid epoxy to save it from the vibrations.

Messaged your on IG, did you daisy chain all your toggles with one power wire from the relay? And one ground on the tower, frame or battery?

Hey dude! In the description of this video you can download a wiring diagram I put together. I ran two power leads direct from the battery; one that fired off a relay and one that was hot all the time for the for the USB port. The relay toggles were daisy chained and the one hot lead went right to the USB port. For ground I went right from the chassis ground under the tank. I soldered three smaller ground (16 awg) wires to one larger ground (14 gauge) with an eyelet that went to the chassis. One went to kill switch and turn signals, one to USB port and one to other accessories. Hope that helps!! Will get back to you on IG too. Cheers!
