i am a 75 year old woman. widow, living alone. i have much nervousness for the world situation - started learning to can food with a pressure canner but i have had several illnesses and surgeries in the last 2 years. i do not think i can do a full pressure canner anymore - i am going to try doing this the way you have taught - the jars all look so delicious and it's just about enough for one person to eat in one day. i really hope the world won't come to the disaster being threatened but i am determined to at least have food, already cooked, for myself and my son's family who live next door. we live in Alabama, United States. i will follow you with great affection and interest, and i pray that you will be safe as well. thank you for your lovely educating ways.

I too love her techniques but I really think that you might want to consider upgrading to a modern pressure cooker. The electric ones (I recommend the Ninja brand) go for $80.00 on up and they remove all of the manual labor and potential danger of traditional cookers. They do not require a stovetop and the most lifting you would ever have to do is to put jars in and then take them out when finished. I have sympathy for your situation but I must ask, why is it upon you to do this for your son and his family? It seems to me that it should be the other way around. Does he not understand the seriousness of where we are at right now? I'm 38 and I am no stranger to this issue even with close relatives, me and my Mom seem to be the only one's looking out despite numerous warnings and obvious signs. If I were you I would tell him that it is a part of his duty as a man. I know that if I were not looking out when I should be and my mother said that to me then I would start paying attention and taking steps to make sure that everyone is safe. I don't mean any sort of offense but it seems like you are taking on a very large responsibility that should be his. I say this because I am in the same position but half your age, I could not imagine putting what I must do onto my mother alone.

please don't. a modern pressure canner is ESSENTIAL to can low acidy foods like meat. what she is showing has serious risk of botulism.

In the past couple years I've learned quite a bit about canning, preserving, cooking with very little to work with, which plants (like green onions) are perennial and provide you with abundance, etc. From so many great sources. I too am from Minnesota. I too have had anxiety about the current state of things. I find it is good to be prepared even if it’s just for when the power goes out. It’s like a security blanket knowing I’ll be able to survive if things get bad. But it helps me if I don’t get obsessed with prepping. Luckily I like camping so have gear that works for power outages and camping 😊

So true, a little store open 2-3 yrs ago. I began shopping there once a month, after my Dr. appointment, the wife & husband both work, but was mostly the wife. She had so much food "health" Knowledge. I haven't been for moths, been struggling financially, just for food, and my health has dramatically deteriorated. But, I love knowing this beautiful Serbian woman is there. Se is glowing, she's so healthy. Buys all her food from a local grower,mane local meat farm , and omg, she sells this imported yogurt that tastes like nothing I had ever had before. I miss her, but an embarrassed, so haven't been back. Najbardziej życzliwy to jest Putin...zaatakował jako pierwszy wolny kraj dlatego żeby jego oni wcześniej niazaatakowali. Właściwie to zaatakował żeby zdezynafikować, czyli wyczyścić z mapy Europy...ot..taka dobroć ruska, po co się mają męczyć jako wolny kraj, lepiej żeby ich w ogóle nie było. To niepojęte, że zwykli Rosjanie dają się tak manipulować. Język propagandy rosyjskiej jest pełen nienawiści i wrogości do innych państw. Nikt nigdy nie chciał napadać na Rosję, ponieważ wszyscy się jej boją i logiczne, że nikt nie ma szans zwyciężyć olbrzymiego kraju z bronią atomową. Z perspektywy zwykłego mieszkańca Europy Rosja stała się bandyckim krajem. Przed wojną bardzo lubiłam ten kraj, język, kulturę, czułam zwyczajnie sympatię do Rosji. Teraz, jak widzę jak Rosjanie niszczą Ukrainę, kiedy słyszę co taki Sołowjow mówi ( jakby opętany był) , kiedy prości Rosjanie wierzą, że napadając na Ukraińców tak naprawę się bronią ( mocarstwo z bronią atomową), to czuję wielki niesmak i ból w sercu, gdy słyszę słowo Rosja.

What does she mean when she says about keeping in the refrigerator, also she says you can cook for 90 minutes. It has been cooked for hours so what is the 90 minutes about? Are the lids not sealed so one can store outside the refrigerator ??? I am confused.

She's saying you need to heat at 80 Celsius for 10 minutes when you open the jars. You can store in the refrigerator for a month. Store the sealed jars in a dark cool spot for a year or longer. If they do not seal you have to eat within 3 days. Im assuming she said you can store in the refrigerator of they do not seal but I don't ever keep any food in the fridge more than a week. Maybe it keeps longer because of the vinegar. I would still eat within a week. However I have been water bath canning for years. Rule of thumb is if your jars seal they will keep for a very long time. If they don't, put them in the fridge and eat within the week or put in the fridge and treat like any other food you cook and freeze. Hope this helps. Just remember she said cook for 5 hours if you have bones on the meat and ,3 hours if you don't.

@@ruthl51i can explain it to you. She mentioned that depends how long you'd like to keep your preservation within 3 months or a year and longer - you can cook it for 90 min only. But you cook it for 3 hours, if it means for longer storage.

Have you tried this also from USA I do do presser canning but always like to try something different. Did you turn Dow your burner or did you have a pot of boiling water on and add to it. I can’t boil anything for 3 hrs without running out of water

I am going to give it a go and see how I get on, did any taste better to you than others, I have four daughters to feed plus a husband and usually a daughters boyfriend or two so need to be able to make enough to feed 8 adults.
