The last Inquisition created the Templar Order and Circles; it could be possible that Cassandra acts as a "representative" of the Chantry by aiding the Inquisitor in his/her mission. If the Divine knows the Inquisitor has certain rights then she might fear the possibility that the Inquisitor might bring the world to ruin as Morrigan said in the trailer; possibly unmaking or changing the beliefs of the Chantry. Cassandra seems like a loyal and devoted person, even in Dawn of the Seeker she continued to believe in the Chantry though she was fighting against its forces. She might become zealous if the Inquisitor takes decisions to "damage" the Chantry; or she might be a loyal companion.

Ashe, you do fantastic work, I swear these sound professional. To answer the question of the vid, yes, I do believe Cassandra's ties to the Chantry will hurt her relations with the Inquisition simply because of her attitude toward mages (The Inquisitor has mages on his team, a concept art possible Saarebas and also Vivienne), plus her ties with the Chantry may make her question any decision that goes against the Divine and the Maker since the Inquisitor does not have to believe in the Chantry.

Dumat was killed twice in the first bilght The Grey Wardens met with great success in their early years. A group of Ander soldiers even managed to slay Dumat while he was on the run from a Warden offensive. The celebrations were cut short when Dumat returned unharmed. In the years that followed, scholars learned that the Archdemon's death had only forced its soul to relocate into the body of the nearest darkspawn

I don't understand what's so dificult to understand about how they got Dumat's blood, when a non-warden kills an archdemon its soul goes to another tainted being and it becomes another archdemon, BUT what about the corpse of the dragon? While the soul transfers I highly doubt the the entire body of a giant-ass dragon just dissolves, I'm pretty sure that even if it isn't truly "dead" the blood of a tainted old god corpse would be enough for the ritual. The reason that the first blight lasted 100 years was that everytime they killed Dumat he just got another body, I'm pretty sure they got dozens of tainted dragons corpses to get blood from.
@Ladyinsanity
@Ladyinsanity 10 жыл бұрын
Here, let me put my thoughts down for ya. I guess I should have been more detailed in my original answer. To start: it most likely took several tries for the Wardens to figure out the Joining ritual. They essentially used the same magic that Dumat taught them, blood magic, in order to do the ritual. We don't know if that was the exact same ritual that the Wardens do today. That being said, I challenge the potency of a corpse in which an Archdemon has possessed. And these are my reasons why: 1. *Dumat was tainted. He was not an original carrier of the taint.* The soul is a spiritual/mental/etc manifestation. When an Old God transfers to a new body, will he force himself to become tainted again? In the prison, the Darkspawn used their taint to awaken and free the Old God of their choosing. The original Dragon deity becomes an Archdemon - he is not one himself. To further illustrate my point, let me note that according to the Chantry (and to an extent, Corypheus), the Magisters are the ones who brought the taint. Not the Old Gods. 2. *We don't know what bodies were killed in the process. Or if those bodies were tainted at all.* It's quite possible that one of his bodies could not have had the taint. Morrigan's son Urthemiel is prime example of this, as he is completely free from the taint entirely. The only way a secondary/third/fourth/etc body would have the taint is if Dumat willingly took it. But the real question is... 3. *Do the Old Gods need Darkspawn blood?* Doubt it. Once they are awoken, they have their own power. They're powerful in their own right. I could be wrong, but these things just make sense to me in all sense of the lore. There's a gaping hole in the truth of what happened with the Golden City. I'm just trying to piece things together.

I thought that Dumat had died more than once during the first blight. Hence how they learned you couldn't kill Dumat in a normal way. Dumat died more than once before the Grey Wardens were formed and end his threat for good. Also, keep in mind that the Archdemons names are the chantrys story. Its not clear at all what the Archdemons actually are. The Chantry's story might just be that, a story that has nothing to do with the truth.

Ashe | Lady Insanity I am guessing that Dumat was slain, but took over a body of a darkspawn, leaving his blood-filled dragon corpse behind. Probably, at some point, the Grey Wardens (or rather, their predecessors), determined that blood magic involving the blood from an Arch Demon's dragon corpse was required to give them the magical ability to end Dumat once and for all... Perhaps Dumat was slain many times before this was determined. In any case, the First Blight was ended, and so I assume they destroyed Dumat using the Joining Ritual and sacrificing the slayer of the Arch Demon so that Dumat would be destroyed and the Blight ended... Had this not occurred, logic dictates that the 1st Blight would not have ended, and the world would have eventually been destroyed by the blight!
@datplace4walkthroughs956
@datplace4walkthroughs956 10 жыл бұрын
Ashe | Lady Insanity The soul and body of the Old god is tainted by the Darkspawn. It takes an ancient magic, apparently known only by Flemeth (Who may be an old god herself?) to purify the soul through the special ritual utilized by Morrigan. The corpse of the Old god (dragon corpse) retains the taint even after the "soul" is destroyed by the grey warden sacrifice, thus, logic dictates that it would also retain the taint after the soul of the old god travels into the body of a Dark Spawn after it's dragon body is slain! Thus, the ancients could have used some of the tainted arch demon blood to utilize the joining ritual after the soul of the arch demon possessed the body of a dark spawn!

What I don't understand is that originally, in Origins, it is stated that ANY darkspawn blood can be used to make a Grey Warden(with obviously the blood ritual for the Joining), but now suddenly I'm hearing that Archdemon blood is needed? Unless I am hearing that wrong?

The first blight went on for a very l9ng time. In that time, I believe there were no Grey Wardens, and that it is easy to asyme they discovered the archdemon's ability to regenerate through any nearby blighted creature be actually slaying Dumot at least once. Possibly they accuired the archdemon blood stock for the first joining ritual at that time. What do you think?

In regards to Dumat, it is stated he was slain many times during the first Blight, always returning until the Grey Wardens formed. It seems likely that his blood was taken during one such occasion. In one of the books there are parts of Dumat’s corpse still kept in Weisshaupt, and it stands to reason that blood and other materials from other Archdemons would also be kept there as well. The question of Old Gods being evil, good, or something in between is interesting. We could say with some certainty that Dumat was at least not good given his supposed actions. The truth is we don’t actually know what the Old Gods really are. Personally I believe they are actually elves and possibly like Mythal, that either stayed in the form of a dragon by choice or by some event outside their control.

Wow, Cassandra's mid-thirties to early forties? Interesting. She doesn't look that old, especially in DotS--I'd say she looks late teens to early twenties at the most, but I guess that's anime for you. But if 30s-40s is indeed an accurate estimate of her age, I like it. I'm close to 30 myself, and becoming more and more acutely aware of how a lot of heroines these days are significantly younger than I am. In any case, great vid! Cassandra really piqued my interest in DA 2, so I'm really excited that she'll be a party member in Inquisition. Can't wait to learn more about her!

On the topic of the archdemon blood: I believe the first Grey Wardens might have had the opportuniti to use Dumat's blood, as it is stated in the coex entry for the archdemon that Dumat was killed multiple times but not by Grey Wardens and so kept coming back. I don't think the transferrence of its spirit would change body and so the taint in the blood would still be as potent as it was upon Dumat's final death.
@kevi1813

After Riordan reveals the truth about the Archdemon: When the first Blight began, many brave men and women threw themselves at Dumat, the first archdemon, trying to strike him down. But no matter the numbers, no matter their strength, he would always return. This was proof, some said, of his divine power. But the Grey Wardens soon learned otherwise. Their tainted blood bound them to the archdemon, and they could hear it, feel it, as it died and was born anew, its spirit drawn to possess the nearest tainted creature. The darkspawn were mindless, soulless, empty shells of flesh that could be bent and remade in the dragon's image. But a man... a man's soul was not so malleable. When a Warden's hand struck a fatal blow against Dumat, the Old God's spirit was drawn not to a darkspawn but to the man who had slain him. In that moment, the souls of both the Warden and the archdemon were utterly destroyed. And the dragon rose no more. The Blight was over. DAO Codex entry: Archdemon

I would think that there would be a conflict about her beliefs at some point but will be persuasion options that involve the inquisitor's relationship to her and can progressively change her thoughts on large subjects. Similar to how in Origins you can convince your companions to change their views. Like Sten's opinions of the way people live outside the Qun or convince Alistair to take more initiative in the events of his own life.

Ashe | Lady Insanity on the point of the death of Dumat it could be theorised that a blood-mage linked to the first wardens experimented on the original body of Dumat after they realised it wasn't actually dead yet. as to the question of the video I think divided loyalty will cause some levle of problems with the inquisition how much of an affect it has on her affiliation will depend on her stance on mages, the intentions and actions of the Inquisitor and whether she's a romance or not.

It's HIGHLY likely, in my opinion, that Cassandra will have herfaith in the Chantry shaken if not completely shattered. What I think the fine loremasters at BioWare may do is utilize the "Tear in the Veil" as a turning point for followers of the Chantry in general and almost fanatical ones like Cassandra in particular. Extrapolating further, I believe that Leliana could very well make a significant appearance in Inquisition that could have significant permutations for Cassandra's actions in the game. The real meat of this could tie in to political machinations among different rulers, characters capitalizing on the chaos (really, MORRIGAN IN ORLAIS?) and a free for all in terms of commonly held beliefs being manipulated for personal gain using the torn Veil as a catalyst.

Most party members usually have a sort of affiliation to contrast with each other and to bring more interesting situations to the game. Like when we made choices in previous games and Anders would always complain about mages' rights (in DA II). I feel that while the Inquisition is autonomous, it needs a starting point in terms of establishing its credibility. In that sense, the most likely source would come from a blessing from the Divine and the Chantry, which, given its own neutral stance and desire for solutions, like giving full and complete authority to a group in order to solve the current crisis now that they have no military arm, leads me to believe there will be no real conflict with the Chantry itself. Points of conflict with Cassandra will likely derive from soft-hearted decisions over pragmatic ones, outright abuses of power, cosigning to blood-magic or any kind, and possible discord within her family while operating in Nevarra.

I think I can answer that question of where did they get the first arch demon blood and Cassandra's feelings on mages. In DA1 we learn that even if the arch demon is slain it's soul goes to another darkspawn and turns into another dragon. So the first grey wardens got the blood from one of those slain bodies. As for Cassandra I don't think she'll have that much trouble with mages. In the demo she was shown having a formal conversation with the mage companion, so I don't think it'll be that big an issue unless its a blood mage.

because Cassandra is very practical i believe she will do what she would see as right, or if not right the most logical choice. as long as your inquisitor isnt helping circle runaway bloodmages of questionable motive or alliance for no reason, or hurting innocents, i dont think she'll mind too much. Also, The Seekers are a behind-the-scenes organization and im sure shes had to dirty her hands occasionally. She kidnapped Varric to get information about Hawke. So, id place her as a neutral companion thats only bothered when you make really immoral choices.

My impression of Cassandra Pentaghast is that she has devoted her life to fighting for "Good" or what is "Right", opposing "Evil" and "Wrongdoers"... I think her gravitating towards serving the Devine is a symptom of her personality rather than her personality... If I am not mistaken, is she not the one that is initially resurrecting the "Inquisition", and at some point embracing the "Inquisitor" as the rightful leader of the Inquisition? In my opinion, she will be very discerning as to what the "Right" or "Good" course of action should be... She does not strike me as being some dullard that will blindly follow the Chantry's wishes. After all, the Chantry may well have been led by an Evil Devine, had the plot by the Revered Mother and her Orlesian nobleman (I can't recall their names and titles, sorry...) been successful, and not thwarted by Cassandra herself! So, in conclusion, I think that Cassandra will be affected most by what she herself perceives the "Good" or "Right" course of action should be. If the Chantry happens to be promoting that, while you, as the Inquisitor choose to do something "Evil" or "Wrong" in opposition to what the Chantry promotes, then I believe she may be sorely tempted to oppose the Inquisitor...

If your Inquisitor is a believer and is trying to search for this threat, whatever it is, to help all of Thedas and in the name of the Maker...etc...then I do not think she will have much problem and her duties will not conflict. If the Inquisitor is hostile to the Chantry and its goals she could become varying degrees of hostile from just getting a lot of 'rivalry points' to a full blown confrontation. I hope this is how Bioware plays it and given their history with DA O and DA 2 it seems likely.

Cassandra will conflict as much as the Inquisitor makes her depending on how we play them. She definitely won't like blood made inquisitors, and unless the Chantry is truly, beyond all doubt in the wrong, she will be very hard to sway against them. If Anders can be convinced to fight the Templars or Fenris for the Mages at endgame for DA2, I think it's possible to get Cassandra on side. Still, I wonder what her breaking point would be where she turns on you... attempting to execute the divine or a revered mother should do the trick, I look forward to seeing what BW comes up with

Ok for the second question I have problems with because grey wardens drink darkspawn blood, not arch demon blood.
@Ladyinsanity
@Ladyinsanity 10 жыл бұрын
The Joining involves a concoction of darkspawn blood that also includes a drop of an Archdemon's blood which builds on its potency. During his short reign, Loghain confiscated many of the Ferelden possessions (including a reserve of purely Archdemon blood) which caused a bit of distress from Riordan. Because of its rarity, Archdemon blood is greatly treasured by the Wardens.

I'm assuming that Cassandra will be ferrying information back to Leliana at the very least. I don't see her just keeping quiet about everything the Inquisitor does. Leliana would be the one sending information to the Divine. Whether Cassandra participates or not is highly debatable.

I think her loyalties to the Chantry will deffo be questioned. We know Vivienne joined the Inquisition to help the Circle so it wouldnt be to much of a stretch Cassandra has her own agenda of being there. So i expect these two to be bumping heads while Varric is the middle man who tires to calm down down...with his chesthair.

Archdemon's blood it's not a real problem, the archdemon may be slain by an army, it only transfer it's essence to a near darkspawn and in time it came back in his archdemon form, noticing this, the grey warden used the blood they collected from the archdemon's corpse for the ritual in order to kill the archdemon once and for all.

Oh Ashe, I have a question. If you could answer back, I would appreciate it. So what is the "Right Hand of the Divine" as well as the "Left Hand of the Divine"? I tried looking this up but I was getting nothing really answered for me and I'd like to know so this question doesn't haunt me for all time.
@Ladyinsanity
@Ladyinsanity 10 жыл бұрын
For a literal answer, the Right Hand is Cassandra and the Left Hand is Leliana. The hands of the Divine are special agents employed by the Divine to do what she sees fit. Higher power and authority than both the Seekers and Templars in the essence, but of course within the limits of the Chantry. Think of the US's secret service combined with CIA agents. But there's only two of them.

It involves a mixture of Darkspawn blood, lyrium, and a drop of the Archdemon's blood. I think when it came to Dumat, he had been slain repeatedly and his husks provided the blood necessary to provide the future Grey Wardens with the mix to master the taint to finally slay Dumat at the Silent Plains.

Cassandra will probably be loyal to the divine and what we do will probably affect how things might end with her at the end, I bet that she has joined the Inquisitor to infiltrate the organization, and at the end she will probably have to choose between following someone from the chantry or the Inquisitor. And depending on if she live or die is probably gonna affect the end of the game in some way. But personally, I do not like Cassandra, she is way to overzealous for me to like her and I did not like that she attacked the Grey Wardens(which is one of the few organizations in the game which I like), and there might be possible that Leliana and Cassandra will have some kind of confrontation, weather it will be that Leliana will decide to follow the Warden(if the warden is alive, and had good influence with her) or that Cassandras infiltration is unknown to Leliana and she will start to question Cassandras loyalty, either way it has been shown that both Cassandra and Leliana will have a important role to play in the last game it is bound to be something big that will involve them both

From what you said I have to say she's going to have a lot of problems with me I've been more prawned to helping mages so she might take issue with that (I do what I can if there blood mage or aggressive it can't be helped) but I hope she just isn't going to fenris without the giant sward that would be boring. but yeah I never thought of that how did they kill Dumat if they didn't have his blood I always thought they got tainted and hoped to get lucky. I agree don't think there all evil maybe like you said Dumat cause of what Corypheus said but I think all of the defeated old gods are just recovering after each fight in the fade where there powers are unmatched

But Duncan use Darkspawn blood to initiate the Warden, or not? About the Question: Bioware almost always give the option to convince your companions, with influence, frindship or whatever, at least the romantic character. And also i doubt that DAI will be as simple as choose a side, even with the war going on, i believe that something else will be the common enemy, and you will have a choice, one or the other, both or neither (something like the Geth and Quarians)

Ashe | Lady Insanity in the lore they also tell that if anyone kills an archdemon but isnt a warden then the soul of the archdemon is simply transferred to the nearest darkspawn taking it over so i guess that they killed the archdemon a lot of times during the 100 years the first blight lasted which would give them plenty of oppertunity to gather blood besides in the dlc it is told that when an archdemon is killed they gather the blood and preserve it for later use which means hat they always can create new wardens or atleast as long as they have blood in store

remember in DA2 the Wardens are up to something and we know full well the lengths they are prepared to go to end the blights, point being we have no idea what's going on with the Wardens atm, they turn up at the oddest times in DA2 we're being told wink wink there is something going on here but remember Grey Wardens don't always have to be good guys in the traditional sense as their goal of ending the blights is paramount to them, one could see how that could potentially cause frictions with other factions
