Hello out there! 👋🏽🌹 Here is another beautiful pattern to play with…The Chevron pattern! But first… let’s not get it confused with the Historical ‘Chevron Trade Beads’. - where the chevron pattern is ground down and exposed on the ends of the beads. (These special beads first appeared around the late 14th century from Murano, Italy and were exported to other regions for use as trade beads 😃).
The Chevron itself is an inverted V pattern, with each side meeting at the point without interruption. The results are a seamless zig-zag pattern…and that is what this demo is all about! 💫✨I thought it would be fun to use the Pseudo Onion Skin cane that I demonstrated in 101.34 for a colorful banded effect. 🌈✨✨✨
I hope you all enjoy these…it is definitely worth a side trip to explore this beautiful technique!
✨✨Thanks so much for joining me…wishing you all well!🥰
👋🏽Cheers- Robin 🌹🌈

Hello Jenny!🌹💫 i’m so excited for you to give this one a try! I was surprised at how well this cane worked for the design. I have used the ‘pseudo onion skin’ cane for several of these demos…it is so diverse! ✨ Great to hear from you!😍🙏🏽Cheers- Robin✨🌹🌈

Beautiful beads as always. The one that still has the impressions and not melted in, looks to me like a big thick rod of striped colour was twisted as it was added to the bead core. I really like that one.

Hello Shelley! 🤗💫 Thank you so much! I almost used that bead for the demo, but I wanted to show how it looked melted in and then encased in clear. ✨🌹…. I had to make several of these to get the three that you see at the end. Glad I was able to share them all! ✨✨ I hope you are doing well! Cheers - Robin 🌈🌹🌹🌹

Thanks Robin, a great multilayered technique, trickier than it looks I’m guessing. I tried your ‘simple’ zigzag pattern from an older clip yesterday. Mine ended up looking more like loops than fine zigzags but good fun to make. 🤓

Hi Dan! ✨🌹 This is a fun one to play around with! I think it is easier than it looks…folding the cane is the hardest part and if it gets messy it still looks great in the bead! 😅 If you tried the ‘simple stupid’ zigzag pattern….the bigger the dots - the better the zigzag. It is interesting how there are all these little variables that will change the final look…size of dots & size of the stringer. 😃 I got your email… As a teacher- I agree you and wonder how Glass students will do outside of school with no studio. Studio glass is unbelievably expensive as you know! I was lucky enough to get a teaching job at the museum once I got out of school, but after 13 years it became toxic and I had to leave😞. But that is a story for another day! Lol. Great to hear from you, my friend! 💫 Cheers - Robin🌈👋🏽

@@scottwoodresearch Hi Robin, I’m in the studio tomorrow for a bonus Saturday session so and I’ll give another one of your patterns a try. Depending how my wobbly zigzags turned out I might even give this technique another go and try your suggestions and adjust the stringer and dot sizes for a bit of fun. Have a great weekend 👋🤓

@offtheplinth Hi Dan! 😃🌹 I’m glad to hear you have some Bonus Time coming up!! I will also be in the studio tomorrow…as I have nothing to show for this weekend 😞. Great design! It seems the razor blade helps a lot, I do raking with a glass rod thinned at the end but it takes glass with it and then there is a blob at the end of the line… did you make your tool yourself? thanks & cheers 🌸👏

Hello Sonia! ✨🌹 Thanks so much!! 🥰 Depending on what look I’m going for, I will use a glass rod to feather … but the razor blade tool is much more precise for this pattern. The exacto blade handle holds a straight blade perfectly…easy to make! 😃💫 Hope you are well! 🌈 Cheers - Robin 🙏🏽🌹✨✨✨
