I love Festivals and by far my favorite is the Hurricane Festival

So this year I wanted to build something during my time on the campground. The Hurricane Festival is known for it´s unpredictable weather so i thought a house-like structure to keep us dry and provide shade would be a good idea.
The budget was 100 euros for wood, i had the colored gels from an old job and I found a sink on my way to the Festival.
The weather was so extremly bad that they evacuated the complete infield on saturday and all the concerts were cancelled...the campground was soaked and tents under water but we were safe and dry in our tiny house!
next year i will build a boat :)
and because i already got sooo many comments about it:
I hit my thumb with the drillbit and punched trough the nail. it´s fine now :)

I like the way that you started out in a field all by yourself...then quickly got surrounded by other folks. Also...that you got the bulk of the shelter up just in time to shield against the rain! Great looking stained glass effect too!

Colourful, dry, spacious, Festival House, complete with kitchen sink, party-lights and mini sound-system available on-site in a dry spot. What a perfect setup for a good time 😃 Another great story.

With the sunset, the storm and the colors of the project this may be your most beautiful video. I didn't know it was permissible to do anything at a festival except drink heavily.

AMAZING !! ..A few tools , No power supply and 100 euros budget , and you make a tiny house that stood up to the extremely bad weather and also looks great ... well done Laura !!! .. and the idea of a boat for next year is not a bad idea ha ha ha ....hope the thumbs better

haha, yeah, it was very extreme this year...but still people loved it. nobody was negative about it-that´s what i love about this festival!

Laura Kampf It looks like Burning Man this year is August 28th to September 5th. So it might be a little too late for you to make all the arrangements. But if you set up a GoFundMe page or something for 2017, yeah, I would definitely kick in a few American $bucks! Perhaps you could put together a coalition of your maker-friends, and upload videos of the contraptions and shelters that you would bring to Burning Man. Of course, all these things would have to be modular, since you would have to ship them to the States. Alternatively, you could do all the planning and design in Germany, and then do all the fabrication somewhere in the States. Perhaps you could partner with an American maker, since you probably have friends and supporters all over the world.

exactly...it was the first time i never even had a picture of the result in my head even during the build...guess that was what made this possible to do in basically only 2 days. taking it step by step is the best advice for everything!

you brought everything including the kitchensink :) we also had some hours of rain on Saturday on the festival I visited. I brought a spare tent which we used as a communal living room.

Brilliant use od mylar. Shame about the weather. Love to see a movie that plays in your head as you build. Lol. We both have English as a second language. My first was Danish. By the way you speak English better than I do. Lol. A real carnival tent/shelter. I do wish it was collapsible but it does not matter I still loved it.
