Brilliant vid, I had the same problem, couldn't believe when I took it apart the flow restrictor housing was disintergrated (took out with minimal force) with half of it left behind in the tube, shocking quality, your video was very helpful, it's now working like a dream, they really need to make more of their parts from metal

Top bloke for sharing this, my cheese sensor like most completely turned to fondu. The only mistake I made was when I struggling to get the clip back in and realised that I was trying to fit 2 'O' rings between the flow turbine adapter and the flow sensor! Otherwise not too bad, the silicon grease helps to seat the adapter and there is a definite clunk when it's in place. Leak sorted and as per the commentary, the hot water seems to arrive faster at the tap due to the flow restrictor working properly.

Hi heating geek Keith again with Worcester 28cdi have now replaced diverter valve and everything seams fine took 3 hours . Dismantled the old valve to see what problem was.turned out to be one of the small cir-clips on the diaphragm, the inner one, had broken off allowing the weeker small spring to hold out the rod onto the micro switch.again I thank you for your reassurance, and a merry Christmas

Top tip for any newbies like me; the large o-ring on the adaptor needs to slide all the way over the (cheese) nut then over the plastic lip. I had it the nut side of the lip first try and so it would not click in to the housing; DOH. Managed the clip after ten attempts by pushing the copper and sensor part back and wiggling the long side of clip into the right side first which then helped getting it down and in on the left side. Unfortunately the grey wire other side of connector popped out so given sensor had no power the boiler did not provide hot tap water; obviously the job of the sensor to prevent a burnout if no water, so stripped bit of the outer doubles it up and pushed it back in; et voila hot tap water once again. Thanks for the video.

I have an older model, without the green plastic cover over the diverter valve motor, and when the flow sensor/flow restrictor leaks the water goes onto the motor/actuator. This meant that the diverter valve actuator wasn't operating, and resulted in no CH, luckily I managed to repair it by just pulling out the diverter valve motor, dismantling it and then lubricating the seized bearing with WD40, this cured the problem and saved £50 for a new motor :)

Alaways awkward ! That pin is a joke and why they didn’t re design that adaptor with brass is one reason I don’t fit Worcester unless I have to. I spoke to Worcester once and asked them why and there reason was cost ! To patch it up with the green rubber jacket over the diverter motor just says it all. Poor

Great video…thanks so much for sharing. Really helped. Unfortunately in my case it was still leaking after the change? Im pretty sure ive done something wrong but not sure where. Seems like i did everything the same as this vid. Is it normal for the sensor pipe to be put back in with full force while trying to at the same time insert the clip back in. This part was a nightmare for me and just as long as the the rest of the job. Which is why i was even more gutted when the leake didnt stop. Repeated the process for good measure but still leaked. One thing i didnt need to do was undo the bottom nut of the sensor pipe….didnt need to as the top part pulled out with a little twist and turn. Any advice from anyone would be much appreciated.

I did my flow manifold 2 years ago. Was quoted 400 quid. I bough the part for 25 quid and did it in 2 hours. If I were doing them regularly then I'd get it done in 1 hour. Today another crappy plastic leak. Was quote 150 quid.Bought the part for 5 quid. I recon 20 min job. As long as I'm not breaking into the gas line and all I'm doing is isolating water and the job is obvious then I'm good to go. Of course if you are unsure then pay a professional to come out.

Sorry, automatic air vent(no.43 on manual) I think as I’ve just seen it on the Worcester Greenstar 25i manual online. It had what looked like a nozzle head. That is what he said was cause of leakage. I just hope he can sort it out. Seriously, I just forget how much is available online as I was born in 1975 when I started working there was no internet so always been a technophobe. After watching a few of your vids today and reading comments, I am seriously thinking of attending a short course on boilers as it’s the most costly household item and between me, my brothers and sisters there’s always summat going wrong with the boilers, must be a family curse!

Good job. Little tip, next time either remove the diverter valve or cover it up to stop it failing when water drips on it. Also before you pull out the adapter wd40 the adapter and move it from side to side working the wd40 in. Less likely to fall apart when you try and take it out. 👍🏻
@keithwebster6164

That is not advisable. If you squirt WD 40 into potable water connections you will contaminate the water supply and have broken water regulations.

Hi great video thank you my question my boiler is constantly making water and discharge through the PRV valve which I have replaced it is not the filling loop the cold water mains inside the boiler has condensation and with a screwdriver I can here water flowing with hot tap off in the house boiler is a greenslave oil burner
@HeatingGeek
@HeatingGeek 6 ай бұрын
Mains water is getting into the heating system somehow. Look for older filling loops left on the system. The condensation in the boiler points to the mains water continuously running through the boiler. This could be a manifold that has failed or the plate heat exchanger. I suggest you listen to these items. What is a green slave? Greenstar heatslave?

The 1 i worked on had an extra o ring at the front of the turbine adaptor where it joins to the plate hex. Also the flow restrictors were missing. I'm guessing with the restrictors missing then it shortens the overall length of the flow turbine slightly and previous engineer had tried to compensate. Thanks

They can but that would be like making a boiler that didn't leak!!! No jobs for us and Worcester wouldn't sell any flow adaptors. (Vaillant wouldn't sell diverters etc etc).
@heatservicebwcuk1545
@heatservicebwcuk1545 5 жыл бұрын
Very true. whether Worcester designed that part to fail I don’t know. Ecotec diverters like wise At the price it sells for I wouldn’t think it would be worth tarnishing reputation for something that is so cheap cost wise. Then again high volumes of failures even at 2 quid profit is still good business for them. Flow adaptors that is.
@HeatingGeek

Have had local plumber round had he’s sure it’s the diverter valve. Thanks
