I am currently living and working at the South Pole Station through the United States Antarctic Program. I am not down here as a filmmaker or photographer, but instead work in the Logistics and Supply department. All of these videos are being made during my free time and not during working hours. We are very busy down here keeping the station running at maximum efficiency, but I have managed to find some free time to make these short movies!

An adventure people dream about that you physically did. Then shared it unselfishly with the entire world. You know how when you're doing something you have to do that you've already done a hundred times and to cope with the drudgery you detach your mind and think about something fun and exciting? You know what my mind was thinking about the past two weeks? Your life at the South Pole. I am so thankful grateful for that. God Bless you.

So Victor it's June 7th 2022 and I've just finished watching back the entire series. Thank you for taking us along with you, it was awe inspiring. I've spent the better part of a few weeks traveling to Antarctica. I love going to new places and seeing something I've never seen before. You posted your NZ residency update on IG just yesterday, so well done on that. Greetings from Montreal Canada.

Its been one hell of a journey. Thanks for bringing us along. I'm really gonna miss these videos. Its somewhat bitter sweet. Bet your happy to be home again. As for this video, I especially like the calender. Great idea. One question. Your marks started about mid February. Does that mean that the 2020 winter cycle has started at the south pole station. Also, when does the perpetual night start. Again, thanks for everything. Best of Luck.

These videos are the most interesting thing I’ve seen for a while! How much luggage were you allowed to bring to the South Pole? Did you have to bring your own snow boots and other warm clothes?
@Sembazuru
@Sembazuru 3 жыл бұрын
Not having wintered down there I don't know what their weight allowance is. For us summer folk each person is responsible for humping their own luggage, so that does self limit things. But I'm not sure if winter-overs are given a slightly larger checked luggage limit because they will be there so long. I can answer the question about the boots and warm clothes having gone down to the ice for summer deployments. All the big cold weather stuff (the snow boots, the "Big Red" parka, gloves, etc) are issued and one returns them when done. But people are encouraged to bring their own thermal underwear, socks, face masks, hats, etc. I think those things can be issued, but well used borrowed stuff isn't nearly as comfortable against your skin as brand new stuff that you brought yourself.

Your videos on the south pole just fascinate the heck out of me. It's been a great series. I'm curious if your thoughts on all the reports or unusual warm weather in Antarctica and all the melting because I can tell you it scares the absolute hell out of me. Hi. Sorry for off topic, but I have a question. Maybe you could help me find the answer. Do you have any knowledge why under 70°09'09"S 87°50'44"E on Google Maps and Google Earth is rectangular bright shape? No weird theories from my side, just wondering what it is. By the way, I love your content. Especially the South Pole Station series.
@GoneVenturing
@GoneVenturing 4 жыл бұрын
No worries at all! First of all, thank you! I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the videos ☺️☺️ As far as the google earth thing goes, I look at the spot, and idk. But also if you look around the continent, there seem to be other little areas that are either the same or just a different color. I’m assuming it just has something to do with the satellite image. I don’t know how it works but it would make sense if they just take a bunch of images and then stitch them together. Maybe that day and moment there was something that made it bright like that? Idk. Haha. Doesn’t make me think anything weird though!
