The often asked question, which is more important, the camera or the lens? But it’s not as easy as that. So this is how I see it and thanks very much to Phil for his excellent clarifying question.
So, for photography, what is more important, the camera or the lens?

Once again Dave on point video. I do rather like both images. It’s funny how a lens will never loose value if any but the camera will.

Very true that mate - I just got a quote from MPB to offload some gear cluttering up my office. 7 year old camera and 15 year old lens - camera good as new. The lens battered and bruised. Cameras value has diminished to less than 25% retail whilst lens is still holding 40% despite being in a well used state.

Great stuff Dave. Must explore the Roaches a bit more, the long lens composition with the barn and the Roaches behind I haven’t seen anyone take that shot before👍

Thanks Drew. I've tried to take that shot of the barn a few times now but the grass/wheat has never been high enough to block out the wall at the end, was pleased as punch to see it that way when I arrived. Well worth an explore around that area. Despite loads of visits, I always still feel like there's something new to find. Heartily recommend a visit/revisit :)

@@LetsClickPhotography I've only really seen the barn shot at sunset looking the other way,so it was good to see a different composition. Not been for a while, must go back, always chuffed when I go there

Nice video Dave, another very informative, discussive session out there!:) you’re definitely right about the importance of lenses rather than camera bodies. People seemed to be way more obsessed about the latter ( marketing I guess😂 ). Awesome shots as well! Cheers

Thanks Peter - yeah the marketing teams earn their money in that respect for sure.

Great vlog Dave, and a nice exhibition of what you can achieve with different focal lengths. I ‘think’ I’ve actually settled for the lenses in my bag (well for the moment anyway 😊) probably the only upgrade I’d consider for the time being is to go from the RF100-400 to the RF100-500L. But then, saying that, the 100-400 is so nice and compact, and light…..

....and soooo much cheaper! I borrowed the RF 100-500L off Canon for a short while. It is most definitely a fabulous lens, but £3k is a lot of cash for that extra 100mm (and stop of light I suppose!) when the 100-400 is so good. Thanks a lot Martin.

Cheers mate.....don't tell anyone ;) but I made about £5k last year using an aps-c with the crappiest plastic £100 lens - 'good' is all in the eye of the beholder!
