I've mentioned how much I like this series before, but something subtle that I just noticed that I really like, the fact that the question in the title is always the first one in the video. It would be easy to pick the most clickbaity question and save it for the end of the video to make people watch to the end to see it, but you get it out of the way first. I don't know if it's a conscious decision but it's really cool imo.

Seriously though! That's a really good point. Way too many videos on KZfaq where they don't address the title untill way to far into the video. I just exit those videos when I realize that. Fantano respecting his audience enough to give them what the title promises right away, at least for me makes me much more willing/actually wanting to watch the rest of the video.

Here's the thing: the death of an artist is not any incentive to say that their music is good, but it is absolutely an incentive to start listening to them. The death of David Bowie planted the seed of my now flourishing classic rock obsession, and bought the world of music to my attention.

I never automatically become a fan of an artist just because they die. For example, I've never listened to an Amy Winehouse song outside of her popular hits that get played everywhere. But sometimes when an artist dies, you feel like reevaluating them again, and something clicks like it didn't before, and unfortunately, you are only now understanding this after the artist died. This is what happened to me with Prince.

I was glad to see him change a new leaf but unfortunately he was taken too soon, no one deserves to die young. And in terms of social impact, X touched, helped and saved the lives of countless people. Watch the video ''xxxtentacion saved my life'' if you don't believe me. I've always liked Pac but I'll never understand why people have him in such a ridiculously high pedestal.

Darkstar Everything that you said is probably something a 17~21 year old would say about Tupac back in the day when he died. Tupac was that for a lot of people back in the day. The reason why you don't understand is the same reason why 20 years in the future, someone's going to say they don't understand why anyone would've put X on a pedestal. Time.

The first argument is absolute FACTS. I didn’t hear a single person calling X a “legend” or a “revolutionary” until the day after he died

Nifty By Nature People we’re saying that years before his death when he didn’t have the portfolio do back that statement up, but I honestly believe if he wasn’t already legendary on his soundcloud and doing things like helping out Florida on the map, and turning himself around as a person, he had infinite potential to become something greater. I feel in 20 years we won’t be talking negatively about X, or his allegations or judgin, And weighing him against Pac, we will just be worshipping the greatness that they put towards us, X’s influence isn’t going to be felt for a while now, but how Memphis and that Three 6 Mafia triplet flow is embedded in nearly every rapper out right now, we will see X in every rapper, if we don’t already see it today. I honestly believe Pac was a better artist and person then X was, but X didn’t have the time to achieve or surpass, and it isn’t my jurisdiction to decide who is better as a person, or is it even of ours responsibility.

Who is here after the Katy Perry lawsuit? Music (ie. sharing ideas and building off ideas/standing on the shoulders of giants) is going to be difficult to compose now. Honestly artists of all types need to stick together and defend the creative traditions that have served us well. Yes, we need to shame and legally go after thieves who blatantly steal true-art from true-artists, from people who work tirelessly to improve their craft; however, the notion that musical ideas are only used (or thought of) only once, by only one person, is utterly wrong. Two human minds (completely separate from the other) can create the same music, its possible. If we continue on this absurd path of "this series of notes/tones/rhythms is mine!" then what happens to blues music? What happens to jazz (ie "the lick" which is commonly used in jazz improv). What happens to hip-hop (ie sampling)? What happens to music as an art?

I live in a pretty small city, the best part is all we had for a long time was small venues. I got to see Young Thug in a less than half filled place and I got to see the Internet in a super small place with maybe 30 to 40 other people. Never a lack of energy.

With the artist's death think, I COMPLETELY agree. The radio was flooded with Linkin Park music for example, after Chester Bennington's death, and it seemed like everyone and their grandma went from making fun of how bad their music was to being the biggest Linkin Park fans on a dime. Same with Chris Cornell, to a lesser degree. Also, while he's admittedly a much better artist than the first two examples, the sudden love for Michael Jackson's music after years and years of most people collectively mocking him for several (mostly valid) reasons, was beyond irritating.

zero 100% agree. If Pac and Biggie hadn’t died they would find themselves to be in the same situation as Eminem and Jay-Z nowadays. If Eminem had been killed after TES in 2002 and Jay-Z killed in 1999 both in there primes, they’d be in the same league as Pac and Biggie. It goes both ways.

The only live show I enjoyed being in the nosebleeds in a giant arena was NIN. Didn’t matter where you were in the audience, the visual show accompanying the music was the most mind blowing thing you’d ever see. It didn’t matter if Trent and company were tiny little ants, the visual spectacle you were being treated to was just awe inspiring. It’s some of the craziest shit I’ve ever seen. Not to mention Trent loves to switch up styles of his songs he plays live and will mash two songs together so you don’t hear the same shit you’ve heard on the records over and over again AND he always has a live band. Recently his live shows haven’t been that crazy but still one of the best bands you can see live, no matter what size the venue is.

For the title hot take, I’d argue that mac Miller had a catalog that actually does change emotionally because of his passing. Songs like Small Worlds, 2009, the entire circles album, perfect circle, and some songs off of Faces wouldn’t be nearly as sad if he were still alive.
