To add waves to your ocean, add white dye along shoreline after 1/2 of curing time (resin will be tacky) use a small nozzle bottle and stream your wave lines on. Blow lightly with a straw so you can froth the line. To keep your pictures from warping, simply spray them with a Clear Acrylic Sealer, let them dry, and then they won't warp, bleed, or fade. To be sure of how much resin which will not overflow simply measure with water the amount of liquid needed in mold. Be sure to dry mold completely, water and resin does not mix. I've worked with Resin now 10+ years and I still find it fascinating. You are right to use all of your PPE. I do every time I pour. My profile picture is a Resin Seahorse.

Loved your video. I had no idea DT sold Resin. I have seen that same brand at Hobby Lobby with kits. I do think I would like those smaller bottles to start out. Less intimidating.😊 Loved watching your process and the lets go for it attitude. Definately gives us newbies inspiration to try it out❤

If you want the Bubbles to come to the surface put some alcohol in a spray bottle and spritz the Resin filled molded with a lil bit of Alcohol and you will see the Bubbles come up to the surface. That’s one way to get the Bubbles to come out.

I have done resin with a friend before, and it was a lot of fun! Here are some hints that I learned from her, some from YT and some just from being old and experienced in the School of Hard Knocks! Be careful with heat tools - you really can burn your resin pieces and damage the molds. I noticed your work surface got a little cramped as you moved through your projects - I save the plastic and foam trays that come under meats from the grocery. Clean them up and sanitize them with bleach - these are excellent to put your molds on so that you can move them aside when ready to cure (and remember - no heat on those either). Additionally, you can also put a damp towel over the top of your dryer (or washing machine on spin cycle!) and lay those trays directly onto your laundry machines to "jiggle" out the bubbles.... The Alcohol spray bottle works great too, and the hand sander will work great too (with no sand paper on the pad) and pressed gently up to the side of the wood that is holding your pieces, but that seems a tad inconvenient..... I have RA and PSA and can't see myself standing next to a sheet of plywood and holding a sander. But VileAce is 100 percent correct in that this WILL work (I've seen this method used for poured concrete and it works like a champ!)... As others have suggested, paint the sides and/or apply cork or felt to the bottoms of those pieces that "bother" you when you see them from the side. I would also encourage you to look into your ribbon stash...😃 Oh, and those molds that have a "lip" around them - maybe use a different color to pour in there as well - sort of like adding your own frame!!!! The one with the photo could also make a great fridge magnet! Lastly, those tiny jewelry pieces? OMG what great little wine glass charms those would make! You could do animal themes, holiday themes, or just beautiful colors! Sorry this is so long - it just shows how excited your video has made me about doing more resin!!!!! I'm a new fan!

I painted different shades of blue & green on a big canvas, spread resin all over with an old gift card, added sand to the bottom, & while the resin was wet, I sprinkled holographic embossing powder used for card making all over. When it was all set, I glued shells & a small piece of driftwood, and it came out so sparkly & beautiful 😊

When mixing colors, if you don't want your sand to mix with the other colors, let the sand set up for 6 to 12 hours and then you won't have color blend you may not want

If you want to use things like the floating snowflakes, do a tiny bit of resin in the bottom, add the flakes, let it set and then add more resin.

Great video. I like that you let the viewers know that you are doing this project and using resin for your first time. I find it best to just lay a very thin coat on the coasters and letting it rest a bit before placing embellishments. Just let it get tacky. I find that watching videos is relaxing and very informative. Have a Blessed day.

Couple of recommendations. Use a deburring tool to trim the edges instead of sanding. A deburring tool follows the contour and makes a clean cut, where sandpaper you will need to use multiple grits to get back to a clear edge. Second, place your mold on a sheet of wood and use an orbital sander on the wood to remove air bubbles after pouring. Do not use the sander directly on the mold, but indirectly vibrate the mold to move the air bubbles. Like you said make sure your resin is warm, or the air bubbles will be difficult to move.

I have never seen any resin products or molds at DT. Love the projects!!! Thank you for all the tips. I would not have known to wear a mask. Could you go around the edges of the coaster with a gold paint pen to add a little sparkle? I think the snowflake coaster could be reversible--you can use both sides. I love the way some of the sand appears to be retreating into the water. I just wish your video had the button to press to save it into a folder so I can always find it easily.

Also one more thing when you add the white into your resin and mix it until well blended. You can pour it to a slant or however you feel is best for you after you've poured it onto your chosen surface. You can take a little blow dryer and jiggle your hand over the white part to give it a more realistic kind of look. And you can also try pigments, and alcohol inks and spray them with alcohol to get even better effects for a more realistic look for your beaches. 😊❤😊 can't wait to see what you come up with using these techniques I gave you on your up coming videos.😊❤

The times I’ve used photos with resin I’ve always took a good clear box tape and taper the photo front and back as if sealing the photo with the tape then put the photo inside the resin to keep it from curling up and the color from bleeding off of the photo ❤

You did an awesome job. I have resin that I purchased probably two years ago and have still not used it because I have just been afraid of messing things up. But, if you mess it up, start all over again. Your video has certainly encouraged me to just get out my resin and get going with it and see what happens. Also, the picture coaster that you made looks awesome even from the side. I know that bothers you though and I just had an idea. Thought maybe you could just take some paint and paint around those edges to hide it. Again, I have never worked with the resin to even know if this is possible. But I guess it’s worth a try. I love to know if you try it and how it turns out.

Hi.just wanted to let you know that ii am a Artist 🎨 😊and I have been working with resin for about 5-6 years if not more ..I just wanted you to know that when making your beach coasters, soap dishes,,or even a beach Sean on a canvas. You can mix your resin as directed on packaging and add your colors of blues, green, and for a sea foam kind of look you can add into.the clear remaining resin like 2-3 drops of White acrylic paint. To give it a sea foam look or just water rolling onto the beach sand. 😊❤ Hope this could help you ❤. P.s. you can also use dried flowers, 🌸 💐 p, glitters, almost anything you can imagine..youcan use. Happy Resining!! Also I have never used Dollar Tree Resin Yet. I buy the by the Gallons And they cost $106.00

I have a suggestion to do with the foam stickers. You'll need to do 2 pours. Place half the amount of resign then place the foam stickers. They will float. Let it dry. Then you can add the 2nd part of your resign over it. The stickers will not move. They will be trapped between the 2 layers of resign. Good luck. When i did it, it worked great.

Used a heating mat also cuz its cooler in my basement where I was working & worked great. I've never seen those molds at my Dollar Tree. I also used the Stainless steel tumblers & msde the glitter tumblers for grand kids for XMas. I also used the tumbler turners they had. Used 4 turners & made 30 tumblers altogether.

Great video. So much of working resin is trial and error.i still try new things and make many mistakes. Couple things i found out: after mixing the resin thoroughly, let it sit for 15 or 20 minutes before pouring it will thicken up some and not move as much once it is poured. If i have a bit of dried overflow I use nail file and grinding tools that you use on acrylic nails. Experimenting with resin is alot of fun. Enjoy!

I found resin, molds, mica powder, pigment dyes and sequin mix ins at my Dollar Tree in ON, Canada. When I went back there was no more resin! *sigh* Anyway I have yet to try it...too cold, not much ventilation either...so have to wait for warmer weather. I have never tried resin crafting, but have wanted to for awhile...doesn't help when I watch the stuff from some other KZfaqrs that I love doing crazy stuff with resin on a larger scale. I have been watching Peter Brown and Nick Zammeti for a few years now. Nick even has his son do different things and I watch his channel too. They use pressure pots to get rid of air bubbles and I think set up things quicker as well. They make some of their own molds too...but then have to use a release spray in the mold. So many really interesting things and lots of knowledge to gain. *I think you did amazing! Especially since you hadn't done it before and were testing it all out.* Thank you for sharing, take care, Cas in ON, Canada 💖

Great Video. I have not used Resin before, but im pretty artistic and crafty and it semes like you can use a drooper of the resin in the air bubbles, once the project is done. I assume it is easier to fill and let cure if the bubble is open on the survice of project. But im guesing you can use a syringe with the resin to reach an air bubble under the survice. Do not inject resin until you have reached the bubble, fill the bubble air space by injecting the reain, and gently pull syringe back out straight from the entry site slowly and cont. to release very little resin as you are pulling it out. That should give it a clean fill and no more bubbles 😉

This was really helpful and informative. I e never used resin before and have considered it a bit intimidating. As a teenager, I had a cool vintage bass guitar from the 60s, a Hagstrom Bass 4. I sold it many years ago and can't find another one in excellent condition to buy, it was masonite covered in blue leather with a white fiberglass molded piece on top. It was odd and cool. I think that I can build a similar bass guitar that retains the vibe of the original with a resin layer in place of the fiberglass. I'm going to give it a shot anyway. Thanks for showing me the basics of resin.

Thanks for sharing this procedure! I have had some of the Amazing Resin in my stash for at least two months. I’m afraid I’ll mess it up! May have to try Dollar Tree brand before using the more costly brand. I love seeing people using resin. Many pretty items. Love the hello mold!!

I have not tried anything in resin. I did get the 2 pk from Dollar Tree to try it but not confident enough. I appreciate you making this video for newbies! 😊

I am a card & junk journal maker. This video made me want to try resin now... I'm already out of craft storage space, lol. P.s. my fav project was the hello, but I like them all.

I use a picture frame with glass, taped together to the frame at the top & bottom with duct tape so your glass doesn't move. I do my resin work with the mold on the glass. This way you can raise your frame up & take a peek at how your work looks, not clearly because the molds have a frosted look but it helps to see if your embellishments are where they should be. I saw on another video that you can use Dawn dishwashing liquid mixed to make a lot of bubbles to make foam on your waters edge with small popsicle stick, let dry, the bubbles will break but give it a seafoam look. Just found your channel today.

I bought some resin on Amazon and molds on temu. Waiting for spring to try so I can open windows for ventilation. I did get some of the add ins at DT. Can't wait to start. Can be an expensive hobby

Thanks for your experiments... :-) FYI - I see this all the time - if you are worried about Volatile fumes (e.g. in paints, resins, alcohols, glues, sprays, etc), a normal make (dust mask) will NOT help u in the slightest. Fumes go right thru, you need a special mask (with a respirator and filters). They are huge, bulky and you wouldn't be able to talk thru them very well... the point is you can't smell anything thru it. If you do, time to change the filter or u didn't put it on right. They are awkward, but the only thing to protect from fumes. Maybe you did you that, not sure - but just in case... bec so many crafters think they are protected with a dust mask, which is only good for particles. But well ventilated areas are also good! :-)

Next time you do your resin molds, how about on the first layer hit glue your snow flakes or sand so they don’t float or spread where you don’t want them then pour. Just a suggestion. Haven’t tried it myself
