What stands out most for me about your video is the message that makeup is self-care. And it’s an important message, that often gets lost amongst the “you don’t NEED makeup”, and “why is that so expensive” messages.

26:18 Midnight Sun! Ah, the perfect autumn palette. I left this comment on Beth's channel too. So interesting what you said about Midnight Sun - that it didn't appeal to the masses! I actually love that palette a lot, it's like the ulti-ultimate fall palette. Having said that, I do have olivey undertones in my skin. (I'm South-Asian, from Pakistan). And being born and bred in the Netherlands, I actually never found matching concealer and foundation shades. Eventually when I found out that I have greenish tint in my skin - a world opened for me! I now knew what to look for when doing makeup. What would flatter me the most. And yes indeed - the colors in Midnight Sun look fab on me. (If I may say so myself haha). If Divine Rose blew up because of Taylor Swift - it was exposed to the market that it would appeal to, perhaps Midnight Sun should be made 'famous' to the population it will most likely appeal to. Like Latin America, South-Asia.

What a great video and trip down memory lane! I didn't start collecting Pat McGrath until Mothership VI , Midnight Sun. I absolutely love that palette and chose it because purple is my favorite color. After that, I was hooked and began collecting all of her palettes. I even bought some of the older 6 pan limited edition on Mercari and they were new in box, never been swatched! I have all her quads that she has released except the latest one in the pink packaging and all of her holiday limited editions and negative motherships. Like you, I have really been loving her older palettes so much more lately. I will be doing another full month of Pat McGrath in the fall. You are so right when you say you never do the same look twice! I do find myself preferring to pair palettes alot as well! I just received the newest mothership today and upon opening and looking at it I was underwhelmed. The special shades are just not as glittery, sparkly as before and the mattes we already have dupes for those. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful palette, but when you have a collection like you and I do, it will take alot to wow us🤣🤣🤣 I will be swatching and doing a look tomorrow and I will def let you know what I think after using it. Midnight Sun is definitely my favourite! I have an olive undertone and, except one, everything looks fantastic on me. I've switched out the blue/purple with the green from Sublime and now it's purfect! ♥️ I think the blue/purple irritated a lot of people, but the combinations with it in that colourstory are endless! Sadly it just doesn't go well with my copper hair. My Pat McGrath story: I've known her works, because a friend of mine was a mua in Berlin and for one show she worked besides Pat, that was 2014/2015 I think. So she shared a lot of Pat's work and was totally mesmerized by her artistry. I wasn't into makeup, since starting to work (late 90s) I've went with Dior quints and used them until I couldn't do a look anymore, because I used 2-3 shades up (I could ramble about the quints! 🤣). A friend started her career at Douglas, so I always got a deal and good colour matching for concealer (there I switched a lot, just took what she suggested), my mascara came nearly always with a kajal (thanks Lancome!). That was it, all my makeup. A random mini Lipstick from YSL or Dior slipped into my bag from time to time, but I just used lipstick when going out or other special occasions. When I started my job that I'm kinda still doing, I had lot's of stress, had to fly to another European country 2-3 times a month and got a lot more money than I ever earned. We bought a big Appartement in a historical building and had to renovate, so stress again. Then my boss sold the main company to retire (ha, ha...) More stress and more flights. It was a year before lockdown when I finally had some free time and I got interested in Skincare, dove deep into ingredients etc and did build my routine. Then lockdown happend and as someone with an autoimmune disorder, I had to be very, very careful. My boss (still not really retired) was unable to use the lab of his ex-wife (because of the lockdown, they are still friends) so he just took up reading all the scientific papers and books he never had time before. I was... A bit bored. 😅 Scrolling Instagram I saw my mus friend sharing a release from Pat and I bothered her with questions. Why so expensive? Are they better than my Dior quints (yes, of course! That dreaded formula change! But I had stocked up on backups) etc etc. She asked if we could zoom and pulled out her Motherships. I got a deep dive into the formulas and how to use them. That night I ordered Bronze Seduction. Took 9 days to arrive and I was anxious every waiting day! The dopamine rush when I fist played with the palette! But, she's save. And I got into beauty youtube... Angelica Nyquist especially pushed me to try to use more colours. So Divine Rose 1-2 arrived soon after. But pinks don't always look good on me. You have to try to figure it out. 🤷 The first holiday mega was more my style and I didn't know how much fun makeup could be! Foundation, concealer, setting powder (the baked one), kajal, mascara (don't like), face palette, baked quads (only one missing, but I'm going to get that one), Mothership Sublime... I've accumulated a collection in just 1 1/2 years! Looking at what I spend, I could call myself crazy, but I tried so many other brands and they just didn't deliver like Pat. Huetopian Dream wasn't really "for me", but I thought " definitely for the big X there will be a fantastic Mothership!" *Insert disappointing music here* But ok, I understand that other people like these. So I was looking forward that she will again swing back and give us fantastic colours! But... You know what I think of Sunlit Seduction. The enfant terrible super artist has become Pat McTillbury. I'm over the initial shock and just disappointed and sad. Looking at the bright side, I depotted my Motherships (except Midnight Sun sans the one switched shade) and build my own colourstorys. Currently I'm playing with a purple version and love it! I know tgat depotting is not for everyone, but I love my freedom to build my own versions. Mothership SeDUCKtion for example was my favourite for months. Pictures are on Reddit in the sub "zpaletteporn" and now quite a lot of people have depotted their Motherships and you wouldn't believe how stunning their colourstorys are! 😍 So experimental and creative! Please don't quit KZfaq, have a wonderful vacation, come back to look at your Motherships with fresh eyes and unleash your inner Pat as she was years ago! ♥️ I would really love deep dive videos of all the older Motherships, what you love about them and how you would combine shades. Lets give more love to what we have! ♥️

I love this video! So many good memories are being triggered. I still remember the craziness of releases where we would be texting "is the website working for you!?!?!?!" Hahaha. What are craziness. But oh the sweetness when the palettes arrived at our doorsteps. So so good! My love for pats palettes is so connected with you! ❤ And yes!!! The DR1 release, her first strike hahaha. I also visciously remember texting you. Also I remember how in the pandemic we would call each other to do our makeup together. Specifically with Decadence. The Blitz Astral quads were $68 US. I unfortunately don’t think they did that well. Her other holiday releases sold out within a season. Those quads were on her website until last year. I wish they had been more popular. I would rather pay more money for a quad of Blitz astrals than one of these Motherships that are missing the baked shades

I have actually met her in person at a Giorgio Armani cosmetics launch (a long time ago) because she helped develop the first products they launched (including the Luminous Silk foundation). She was so lovely in person. I think this is why I am quite positively biased towards her products too. But your thorough reviews convince me even more, you are my go-to place for that! 😊❤

All the money I spend on Pat McGrath is because of you Mariam. I became interested in make up last year during my long cancer treatment journey and found your chanel when you released your super fast Lisa Eldridge Eye Shadow review and started devouring your content. I picked up all the previous 10 motherships durings sales and 2 gently used. Midnight Sun in the Star Wars "dress" - and I love her + quints, Mega Holiday, quads..... . I am willing to pay for quality and my joy of colours and textures. ( and often have to save up to a purchase ). As of now I don't feel compelled at all to buy Sunlit Seduction. Even clear cut complaints are handled often badly by customer service, the ego saving approach of deleting unwanted critical opinions - big thumbs down and sneakily cheapening packing and content while asking the same high rates for a lesser product is something I hate. I will gladly follow you and Beth ( love the grey hair + I am rocking my personal shades of grey + love my regrown hair ) on your journey down memory lane and will definitely continue to enjoy my gorgeous motherships I to X. Everytine I open them they put a smile on my face and I appreciate the artistry of Pat McGrath. I didn’t get into Pat McGrath until last year when I got Subliminal. I chose Subliminal because I love cool tones and smoky eyes. I got the Star Wars Midnight Sun on sale this summer for 50% off because I’ve always wanted Midnight Sun and also love Star Wars!

I jumped very late on the Mothership train, few weeks ago I bought my first one and it is Midnight Sun. I am completely in love with it, first palette that really inspires me to play with shades. I will definitely be buying older Motherships, new ones not so much, without baked shades, metal plating in the back and that luxurious heaviness when you hold the palette in your hand, is there even anything worth that kind of money?

I didn’t purchase pats brand until 2020 but I had been following it for years before hand and always lusted after her makeup. So I’ve been playing catch-up these last three years. I’ve got 7/11 of the motherships. (As of a couple days ago I just added two) And I buy the releases I like. I am sad the era of the baked shades and her original creativity is over. I guess whatever sells. It’s disappointing but whatever I’ll still support the brand bc I like the experience and quality. I just think pats genius is wasted on whatever she’s doing now
