Racism takes many forms and can happen in many places. It means treating someone poorly because of their skin color, ethnicity, or where they come from. This shouldn't be an issue today if we just learn to respect one another.

We can't just say that you someone is racist if they don't believe in 'White Privilege". You are forcing them believe in something that they don't agree with and it actually doesn't help. What does help is actually talking about it and learning from each other about our difference as human beings. You can't box everyone by their color of their skin and we have to start looking at each other as individuals. We all have biases but we have to learn to differentiate and appreciate each other no matter our skin color

Rachel you really didn’t have to do this, but I applaud you for doing it. I believe you have all the right intentions, and you are seeking answers for what you see is wrong. We may not be able to change the world, but we can certainly change our own perspectives. Also, thank you for asking about white privilege. It seems like a sensitive topic to discuss, and many people just don’t want to hear the opposing perspective. Even you looked a little uncomfortable when you asked, maybe because of what your white peers might think. But you still asked. Kudos for that. Respect.

First - I think we must realize that everyone has their opinions & many - both white & non white - will not be willing to change. Second - I feel the issue that we can change is systemic & systematic racism in our government & public sectors that that enables this toxic way of thinking to continually oppress anyone who is not white. To do this, there needs to be significant & immediate policy change so that we as a country follow through & that there are very real ramifications for not doing so. However, given how our government operates, the last point will not occur in any of our lifetime. *Side note - I would really love it if I am proven wrong with that last point. Really.

I love this conversation. Learning to love each other better is never a bad thing. Instead of saying “I’m sick of hearing this” as yourself why you’re sick of hearing it, is it really that uncomfortable to explore and understand the very real lived experiences of others? Loving people and understanding them is very much Christian. If you see that as a problem then go take that to God.

@@bybytrucker923 I have seen both in my life. You don't see truly black people in America very often, but they exist. A lot of white children look pretty white to me. Their skin hasn't been exposed to the sun as long. And yes, I do mean white as a piece of paper. If you go to Africa, you will see black people. That is where the term came from. Whiteness is not as clear cut because they had to keep changing the definition to exclude more groups of people from certain privileges. Jewish people at one point were not considered white but now they are.

OK, I admit I haven't watched this video. I saw the video title and read the description, and I saw some red flags. So this summer, people have been saying that we shouldn't be racist after some cases of apparent police brutality. My question is, "Why don't we talk about police brutality in general rather than assume that the police and people in general are racist?" People of all races have negative encounters with the police. Black people and white people get shot by the police or die during a police encounter, but it's usually the black people who get attention. For example, we heard about George Floyd (black) soon after he died, but we didn't hear about Tony Timpa (white) until after George Floyd. Your video description said something about white privilege. I don't believe that being white automatically gives you privilege. Could you say that white privilege existed 70 years ago? Sure, you can say that. In 2020, there are other factors that give more privilege than race, such as growing up with 2 parents.

Thanks SO much for this conversation. "Listen to learn, not to respond." Love that! As to what to call a person born in America, we're ALL Americans! I don't call myself a Norwegian Irish Scottish English American because that's my ancestry. No, I'm an American. I have a white friend, who was born in Africa, but she is now American. She IS a true African American, regardless of her color. If you weren't born in Africa, you are not African American - you're simply American. My sister had an African black preacher visiting her church and when "African Americans" from her church approached him, calling themselves African American, his first response was to ask where in Africa were they born? He was offended when they said they were born in America. He told them that they were not African American, unless they were born in Africa. I see color, but it's what's inside of a person that matters. That's what's important to me. We are all humans. Where you were born, what your skin color is - that's immaterial to me. Who YOU are is what's important.

The problem with this is that to deny someone’s color or choose to ingonre it is to ignore a big part of POC identity. We see our color as a salient part of our identities . The problem with that phrase is it also denies us the ability to CELEBRATE differences. We should be able to acknowledge color in a positive way. Not pretend like we all have no differences at all. We do, and they SHOULD be acknowledged- we just shouldn’t be judged for them. We need to see color, and respect and celebrate the beauty that diversity offers the world.

As long as I have known them (over 30 years ) they would be insulted if I mentioned they were different from me being white. But, that doesn’t mean I can’t ask about hardships they have had along the way. I sure admire all their accomplishments. One is a software engineer, marketing executives, educators. My niece got a full ride at Columbia University on her own merit and not race. She fought hard for that. Can you imagine the insult to her if I were suggest her race had any part of her entry. Trust me it was sheer grit, intelligence and drive. No one helped her in any way. She did not have the rough background AO had. Her grandparents had a background like that and her grandparents made sure future generations wouldn’t endure what they had in the poor area of New York City. Souls don’t have color and no one is discriminated against when it comes to being saved. Why would you exploit scripture for your worldly existence? Anyone can be saved, there is no discrimination against anyone who comes to Christ and God and wishes to have a relationship with their Creator. That is a completely separate issue from observing the material world and analyzing group behaviors and protecting you and your loved ones from objectively violent and dangerous groups of people. God does not command us to sit idle amongst people that wish harm upon us. We are not to tolerate danger and let it simply happen and exist around us and our loved ones. It is completely natural and of sound mind to pass judgement on a group’s general behavior. Don’t try that “but but but there are good!” Of course there are. There are always outliers, no one with an ounce of integrity would disagree. But do we judge the animal world by the outliers instead of their general group behaviors? No. Why? That would literally get you killed. The bear that became a soldier in the Polish military is a literal outlier amongst brown bears. Are we going to assume bears at large will behave like that? NO.

Anthony and Rachael are typically level headed and encouraging. The Ramsey team, especially Dave, have helped so many overcome so much. However I have to express how disappointing and discouraging this was to watch. To bow to such an insidious philosophy as critical race theory and actually promote the idea that there is such a thing as systemic racism is not only shortsighted but extremely dangerous. I believe what drew most to Dave Ramsey and ultimately his philosophy was always Truth. Age..nationality...gender...faith...color...Blinded truth. This is starting to be undone by interjecting what most see as unjustifiable feeling oriented entertainment. Please remember that this ultimately is Marxist ideology. Please don't throw away what took so long for you to build. There is nothing like you out here.
