I never stuck anything in my slot other than switch games and somehow a pin sindie still managed to get bent upward and I had to replace the whole slot cost 60 bucks because I didn't buy a chinese knockoff switch game card slot. Then when I took my switch apart for the first time the charging ribbon going to the right joycon ripped and I had to order one of those parts as well. Switch is back into working order now but that was 80 bucks to fix it.

I tried using a toothpick to gently bend back my pin and the slot would read my cards again. Make sure your console is turned off.

Should the pins inside be standing up or lying flat. All sticking up in mine. Kid attached it with ear bud :((

Yeah I tried that with my Switch and sadly there were a couple of them that were scraped up and damaged pretty badly. (picked up the Switch for parts on Ebay) And one of the pins at the end was broken off. So I ordered a new PCB board. It is pretty much plug and play which is nice. Congrats on fixing your pins though.

Hey I'm looking to get into refurbishing switches and buying the slot without the board is much cheaper is their a major reason people replace the whole card/headphone jack assembly when fixing the card reader or is it just the extra time involved?

yeah you’d have to solder the slot back onto the module. why go through all that effort when they already come assembled.

Mine recently started having this issue. I don’t trust myself to not break it, but I also don’t trust others, and I’ve always had trouble asking for help, so the only choice for me is to get the console replaced.

Those bristle things are bent for me so how do you fix it without taking it apart

I used a small needle, magnifying glass, and a strong light and I moved the pins little by little without using too much pressure

I need it repaired but im in the uk and my pins are also bent on the cartridge slot.also do u reset switchs because i have tons on save data on my switch and i dont want it reset

The pins bending in these things is a very very VERY huge problem. Nintendo did a really CRAPPY job making the cartridge slot for this system. WTF were they thinking!?

Hi, my Switch keeps ejecting the cartridges. The console reads them fine, but they won't keep inserted. The little cart cover used to hold them in place but now that doesn't work anymore. Do I need to replace the whole reader or is there a way to fix that?

Hello, I know Im a year late, but I had a question. My switch reads the cartridges however, the cartridges dont stay in the slot. You know how you have to press the cartridge down to hear a click and the cartridge stays in place, well, mine doesn't. Mine just jumps out. Do you know of a way to repair it? Please let me know if I explained myself

It sounds like the spring return is dicky, the easiest way is to replace the entire cartridge reader to be honest

It's difficult to tell without a microscope or magnifying glass. If you're able to use a magnifying glass you may be able to see with more detail.

I know this video is from last year but I just found your video and it's been very informative. Very well detailed. My wife bent one of her pins with a defective/broken cartridge. It's good to see that it's an easy enough fix. You wouldn't happen to have a part number for the cartridge reader? Was having trouble locating it on Amazon/Ebay in the US.

if you are in Australia, the repair is $70 and return shipping is $15, so $85 total.

I bought Saint Row 3 from Game stop and the gamecard was broken...when i put it in my switch it bent the pins and ruined the Switch...fuxking Game stop....

It is possible but very difficult, sometimes it can be the IC on the cartridge slot PCB as well

They can still fail, it could be the IC on the cartridge slot board for example.
