You might want to look in to Gates heat shrink hose clamps if you have to cut down that hose barb. They are single use but I think they clamp better than worm gear style over a wider area.

Thank you for sharing.I have a 4.8L engine with a corvette intake and 92MM throttle body. The water pump is still the truck water pump which created a huge problem for my accelerator lever on the side of my throttle body as it was hitting the upper water line. I added spacers to my throttle body to push it closer to the radiator giving me a bit more room, but I feel I need to switch my water pump. I still have the truck Crank Pulley, Which water pump do you suggest the LS1 water pump, or the one you just showed with the spacers?
@winchracing645 жыл бұрын
If your not worried about hood clearents you could get intake spacers to raise the TB about the rad support, I was thinking you would have better air flow if you tip the rad the opposite way and put the cap thro the bumper shroud kinda opposite of an FD rx7 set up, would give you getter upper hose location and trap the air flow a little better

I think Im missing something. The $30 spacer gets to half way to a buying a new LS3 crank pulley, relocating the accessories is just time (unless Im missing something here?) and in the end you gain an additional 3/4" of clearance. ???
@vicfarns37215 жыл бұрын
Will that shallower water pump with the spacers line up with the LQ4 harmonic balancer?
@hardball1073 жыл бұрын
As far as your water pump goes you could get the top water inlet off a truck pump, pull the inlet off your pump and weld a block off in it and if you look at the top of your pump you'll see the areawhere the truck pump inlet goes. Just bore out the hole and press in the truck inlet. Set it at any angle you want or weld on an aluminum elbow.

Not sure of the pulley setup on the escalade 6.2 pump ( just like truck perhaps?) But the outlet will point in a better direction. Not sure if itll have hood clearance issues though.

I'm almost wondering if the new water pump, spacers, etc. would cost as much or more than having the driveshaft shortened. Plus you'd have better weight distribution with the engine further back. Now, if you relocate the radiator, it should give you more clearance so you could take the cost of the waterpump/spacers out of the comparison. That throttle body to radiator support looks really tight. Just a thought. I'm enjoying the series. Bummer you didn't get int he 10's with the truck yet.
@BlaserBuilds5 жыл бұрын
It's a factory carbon fiber drive shaft, so wouldn't be as easy as shortening it. I moved the radiator tonight and there's so much room now. More room than I have on the truck, to be honest.

It's a carbon fiber drive shaft... But would also require different transmission mounts engine mounts and shifter relocation kit, so would be another $1500 ish to do all that.
