Welcome to all things ever hopeful in the garden. I am Amanda and I share my gardening journey with you here and on Instagram and TikTok. I garden in Charlotte, NC, zone 7b with a last frost date of April 1-15 and a first frost date of November 1st.

I made these gutter planters several years ago to maximize my growing space. They hang on my two trellises and it allows me to grow plants with shallow roots, like strawberries and lettuce. I can also use them for seed starting for my fall garden. The lettuce does well because whatever is growing on the arch provides enough shade that the lettuce doesn't burn up in the heat.
All supplies came from big box home improvement stores.
8' plastic gutters-cut in half with a hack saw
plastic gutter end caps
metal hooks (3-4 per gutter planter is better than 2)
washers
screws
nuts
zip ties
