Levels of the Mind in A Course in Miracles

What lies beyond the conscious mind? Are there higher levels? Are there lower ones? A Course in Miracles says yes to both. It contains a fascinating, extensive picture of the mind in which the levels constantly interact with each other. Right now, they are in conflict, but the Course holds out the promise of the mind becoming an organic whole, in which all of the levels work together in harmony. In this episode, Robert and Emily describe the different levels, how they relate to each other, and most importantly, how we can deal with them in order to bring about a harmonious mind.

What an excellent explanation of the Course's teaching! It reminded me of this scripture from Matthew, which I think is deeply related: 36 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Matt 22:36-40 ESV Pull towards God / Super-conscious: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind" Miracle impulse: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself"

This podcast made me think about the moment Bill and Helen make the decision to give up and look for a new way to relate better. . That is to say, that moment opened a communication channel where miraculous impulses began to flow and the attraction of God began to become present in their lives with the result of a guide book.

Love this lecture, thank you. Coincidentally this morning I was pondering all the miracle impulses in my life and how some got translated by the ego into superficial outcomes but others really manifested beautiful loving outcomes. I'd say, lets have more of the later translations. Thanks!

I really think you should do a podcast about the tangent that was thwarted regarding examining what is in the subconscious ie “shadow work”. I liked what you said about not just reaching up during meditation etc but also watching those thoughts. This to me deserves an entire podcast exploration

we could add that we also block and distort the calls for love of our brothers. There are a lot of passages that refer to how we distort the calls for help due to the fact that we do not want to recieve help. So mainly the ego is constantly blocking love, when it comes from the pull of god, miracle impulses and the love our brothers give us and specially the love that our brothers ask. Cheers!

Thx, good presentation. True Meditation essentially is releasing the Censor to allow the repressed unwatched mind without reaction/with unidentified detachment to "bubble up" and be compassionately released in forgiveness from the subconscious dungeon.... The first years of Meditation for most people aren't really comfortable but are more of a purifying Purgatory.... And the people who would need that purification most in fact feel so uncomfortable that they would do rather EVERYTHING else than practicing meditation... Rather drink themselves dead or act out the inner "demons" because there's still an incredible amount of collective Ignorance, dishonesty & denial of just HOW to resolve through patient inner practice all these Conflicting layers of Mind and our misinformation with it.... It took me 15 years of deeply dedicated WORK, practice and deepest constant Surrender to GOD with a good dose of trial & error to resolve the constant mental tensions & conflicts... Since the Mind is NOT dying with the physical Body there's absolutely ZERO Alternative to really DO this deep inner work out. Because if one runs away from it you will simply incarnate into another physical Life to work it out THEN. Heaven & Hell are just states of Mind that MUST be worked out as death of body by itself accomplishes nothing... Which is the reason why most NDE experiencers like myself simply are send back and have no choice to just stay....😋

This discussion is of particular interest to me due to my lifelong interest/fascination with the structure and function of the mind. You have deepened my understandings. Much gratitude. (As an aside, I recall your mentioning in a previous conversation, or perhaps it was in one of the Zoom meetings I attended, that the Holy Spirit wants us to give over to it not just the larger concerns and desires in life, but all of them, down to the most miniscule of details. I began doing exactly that since learning this, and it has been extremely beneficial. These days it's now an ingrained habit for which I am forever grateful. Again, much gratitude to you both.)

The Miracle drive ❤ Like something out of Star Wars. Where the hyper drive jump to light speed has malfunctioned and the ship is unable to reach it's destination It's ability to compress time has been compromised.

I've seen Robert mention many times that society is "unravelling". I'm curious about what would happen if this is the case; would we then enter a new "dark age", similar to what happened after the fall of Rome, and then many centuries later reemerge in a new and even greater "renaissance", as if time is repeating itself but each loop is progressively better than the last one?

I think an everlasting society cannot exist just by repressing the "lower impulses"... there comes a time when people get tired and just let their dark side spill into the world, which leads to societal collapse. This cycle ends only when the lessons we have learned are effective enough to "erase" the dark impulses forever so that there's nothing left to repress.
