My husband and I have a Dairy Farm and are able to get raw milk, eggs, grass fed beef, and a garden. Eat close to whole as possible. We do IF most days. He does a longer fast than I do, like 18-20 hours. People comment on how young we look for our age and have lots of energy. I always believed it was the good real fats, cutting sugars, sleep, movement and mindset.

It really shows, you look like a Barbie doll. You’re gonna age like fine wine! My husband and I are starting this, I can’t wait to see the results. We also have chickens and plan on beefing up our garden next year. If only we had cows. Rarely do we eat out either. It sounds hard at first but you get used to cooking your favorite foods, and going out and waiting in lines start to seem like more of an inconvenience than cooking at home… it’s not even as tasty.

I LOVE intermittent fasting. I usually fast 18 hours. If I am hungry before that I will eat. 99.9% of the time I fast 18 hours a day!!!!!! I FEEL healthier. I FEEL more energetic. I do drink one cup of BLACK Espresso Organic Coffee, Mayorga, first thing in the morning, which is usually before 7 am. We NEED to learn to LISTEN TO OUR BODY! If I was being invited for a breakfast brunch, I would not fast the 18 hours that particular day, so I can participate with my family and friends. One thing I learned is rigidness can go against you. You can have flexibility and still be very successful.

Unexpectedly breaking a fast actually is great for the body as you know (as you listen to your body). It's a good way to shock the body into more weight loss. I do 16:8 most days, sometimes I will break the fast by just eating a bunch of junkfood in a day, then back at eating clean. Keeps me more dedicated to the process.

Two things, my friend, and your health will change drastically. (1) Do the breathing portion of the Wim Hof method. Totally free. Ease into it. (2). Do the Wahls Protocol. Dr. Wahls was in a wheelchair with MS and couldn't walk. Healed herself through this diet protocol. Works for almost any ailment. She bikes miles and miles now and lives a normal life. To my knowledge, her diet is not inconsistent with Dave Asprey's advice. My above 60 year old sister with Lyme Disease does these two things and she is able to live a normal life. Best of luck.

This discussion is Age OLD WISDOM long obscured but now reappearing and is a good thing! I've found that with Intermittent fasting most days plus a three day water fast at least once per month preferably twice has given me a whole new experience in my bodyship. Having now relieved the symptoms of an auto-immune condition that has plagued and robbed me of vitality for years has changed the game for me. We must each find our own way but fasting also helps me with the chronic depression and anxiety that I've suffered from since childhood. We owe it to ourselves to give it a try! 🙋

@@sethmason5682 Like you, I don't know how to use the MCT oil so I'm going to have to get the book (lol) but in the meantime, after doing keto for about 2 years (I'm now carnivore), my arthritis disappeared. I had it in my thumbs (I could barely hold a pen to write), ankles, knees and one hip (to the point of limping). I did the occasional 3-day fast, as well but not that often. Anyway, last spring, my knees konked out for some reason and I really couldn't walk. I was snarfing down Aleve and I'm sure my kidneys were screaming. I had to walk around my apartment holding onto walls and furniture--it was that bad. Then I went for a cortisone shot in August, went sort of keto-vore (before going full carnivore) and the arthritis has not come back. The industry of medical replacement hardware is THE most profitable in the medical field--not pharmaceuticals--but artificial joints. So of course no one is going to tell you that you don't need them. The key to it all is diet and probably fasting. Fasting builds stem cells. Anyway, my knee doctor told me that joints wear out and everyone believes that but it's just not true. When your joints break down, it's because your not eating the right things. Simple as that. Good luck to you!!

@@andyandcallie thank you for your comments. I eat pure crap, mostly sugar and carbs. I need to get real about my diet before I let them slice my leg up again. And, by the way, I never got my full range of motion back after the first knee replacement! It's still stiff, and I still have issues going up and down stairs! I need to save my remaining knee!

I love how this interview was so fun and informative. I'm currently 60 pounds over weight, but used to be extremely physically fit. I've spent the last few decades cycling through excess weight, excess stress, excess disease , emotionally and physically. I absolutely love how this interview explains how its all connected, the mental, the physical, the biological, the psychological, the forgiveness pairs with the awareness, which pairs with the metabolism which pairs with either health or unwellness. Super job guys! I just finished a 21 day water fast, 2 weeks of varied keto feeding, and now discovered this video , which when paired with other videos I'm watching, gives me the knowledge and assurance to trust my feelings and intuition. I Lost 40 pounds in the last 6 weeks and am entering into new eating habits , fluctuating between twice a day, once a day, once every 2 days, sometimes once every 5,10,20 days, then maybe some 3 times a day feedings. Its all about knowing our bodies and minds are so much more amazing and flexible that most of us have been led to believe. Metabolic flexibility really does bring more vitality to our souls. Great interview.

He is basically saying that "one meal per day" routines are less effective than actual intermittent fasting...24 hours or 48 hours ONCE PER WEEK. Do NOT let your body ACCLIMATE to fasting with every day or every other day routines. The entire idea is to "stress" your body into shock from starvation mode. And 48 hours is enough to produce the "youth" chemicals we want and to clean out the immune system.

When I am not doing fasting yet, if I skip meals or snacks, I feel irritable (that feeling like you want to do anything just to put that food in your mouth). But when I learned how to fast already, I can go on for long periods of time without eating anything (just water and black coffee) and I still feel great. I have more focus than before. I am doing 16 hours, sometimes, 18 hours and now I can't believe that I am attempting 24hours (reason I am in this part of KZfaq - to motivate myself). I want to reach that autophagy stage that they are talking about and see for myself.

Changing my diet has changed my life.. As an athlete I've always had the usual high carb diet and what most ppl would say I was a heth freak.. Fruits.. Veg.. Low fat.. Proteins no Mcdonalds or kfcs or sweets.. But my god was I hungry all the time I was constantly easting something but at the same time obsessed with calories and if I went over the calories I wanted I would feel bad and eventually I'd do a massive binge on rubbish.. Since changing my diet to keto and now more carnivour/keto and then started fasting to the point I can do 24 hours easy and I did a 40 hour a few days ago with no problems and I swear I had soooo much energy... I do up my carbs if I have a race but I will also train fasted both steady an with effort... I feel my body is so flexible on its fuel... The best thing tho is how I am not tied to my hunger pangs... Best thing ever

32 days on water with electrolytes is my max so far. I was not working at the time and had a quite home environment. I did meditate every day and did the vim Hof breathing exercise every day too. I also maintained a day journal and wrote down what I was grateful for for that particular day. I have restarted squats and am also getting used to cold showers. Using an eye mask is helping me sleep better too. Though as a nurse my sleep rhythm is disastrous thanks to decades of shift work.

I fell into a 16 hour off and 8 hour on cycle naturally. I have one big meal a day around 3 pm then snack (healthy) as needed until around 11pm. I go to sleep about 2:00-2:30 am. I wake up rested at 9-9:30 and only drink coffee in the mornings. I have tons of energy and only start getting hungry around 2:30-3 pm... My body and mind found this cycle naturally. This pattern just started repeating itself on it's own. No thought, no plan. Just followed how I felt. I don't work or have any stress which helps, and I'm sure the coffee suppresses appetite which helps get me to 3pm. (One or two cups) spaced out.
