Awesome video! Just replaced my 2012 GX 460 passenger door actuator following the exact steps. Piece of cake. Local dealer quoted me $605, eBay cost me $6.59 total.

Wow! Totally worked even though my mechanism was different (passenger side in rear). I had a gigantic mess going on though... I had the big gear off, another Y piece off and not even connected to the two metal brackets on top and bottom...Then the motor tabs were actually bent because i didn't pull the motor STRAIGHT out... which i couldn't do at the time because I could barely open the plastic at that point. I broke the plastic cover, which actually made it easier to work on, but a piece of metal got trapped on some other metal, had to take apart again. At the end I had the motor in and the wires moved... but i had no idea if it worked until i plugged back into the vehicle... lol. Getting the motor out and back in and all the trim off and on took no time at all, but it took probably 2 hours of messing with the mechanism. Oh well, $10 is better than hundreds!

Thanks for taking the time to make the DIY video. Well done. My wife's 2011 Lexus is250 has the exact same door lock actuators, and I just replaced the motors in both front doors with help of this video. Two thumbs up.

Thanks so much for this great video! God bless you 🙏. I was able to replace the motors in the door lock actuators - the driver side and passenger side. I have a 2010 GX460. Both went out weeks apart. The dealer wanted $650 for each. I paid $6 for each motor and was able to change both in 2hrs. It wasn’t difficult given the demo in the video.

There’s a video that is titled something about 8 dollar fix for Toyota Lexus etc he shows how to take apart the whole case and replace the motor. (in case you do it this way and you can’t get it back together correctly.) it’s diy like us that make ordinary people be able to fix our own cars!

Thanks for the vid. I replaced mine last weekend and everything seemed ok, so we left for vacation. While away from home I found the key doesn’t work in the door, so I think I need to adjust that bar thing. Also when I try to lock the door, sometimes my GX doesnt like it and will automatically open all the windows and the sunroof and will unlock the driver door... i have try locking it several times for it to actually lock. Is there a reset that I need to do for this? My new actuator was a refurb version

Huge thanks for the video, this was super useful! It worked on my Lexus LX470. Prying open the actuator was a little more difficult (no clips, had to glue it closed), but it worked like a charm. My 2004 Lexus GX 470 remote like yours won't lock or unlock doors, doors do lock / unlock manually and master control works fine. Does it sound like I have the same motor issue you had?

Might be remote battery in that case, if power button is still working.

From what I understand it is. sorry for the late reply
I replaced the driver’s front lock actuator and now the lock works with the switch, key, and key fob, BUT if you hit the lock button on the door and then close it the driver’s door unlocks as it closes. I though maybe it was sensing the proximity key being too close so I moved the key inside the house and same thing. Any advice would be awesome!
@JeliSpace Жыл бұрын
that is actually a safety feature on some cars to make sure you do not lock the keys in the car. To get around that close the door while holding the outer door handle open and then it should lock. If that makes sense
@ericb1294 Жыл бұрын
@@JeliSpace it does make sense but that not how the original worked. I ended up returning the actuator and replacing the motor in the original factory one and all is good now.

What year is your vehicle? I have a 2014 Toyota Highlander.... probably uses a similar power door lock actuator.... however, the Highlander Door Actuators are now ALL SEALED UNITS..... you cannot pull the two halves apart and replace an inexpensive motor like you demonstrate...... Toyota decided it was better to sell $350 parts and a $500 repair job per door instead of treating it's customers with the long term relationship in mind....... My first and Last Toyota product.....3 out of four door locks have failed before 55K miles... and the 4th one is on borrowed time.

This worked in a 2015 Lexus GX 460. Uses a D-Shaft Motor - FC-280PC-22125. Ordered on Amazon - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BYD0QVK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It should be noted when installing the door panel back on a Lexus GX460 and most likely the GX470 that you must remove the felt/rubber piece prior to installing the door panel - refer to this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nrZnqrufqpatk3k.html
