This is fantastik, thank you so much for your art and the inspiration. I would to get a cheap overhead projector on Ebay but dont know where to start (brand / type).. Can you recommend something sturdy and reliable? I will be working in a room that's has a 12 ft wall.

Thank you! I finally got an overheard projector and just got the two clock faces together and I have to go to Walgreen's anyway today, so thanks for the reminder to get mineral oil!! Just wondering how long I can leave the mixture in the glass, so I can work on it later?

Beautiful. How large of a wall can these be predicted onto? I want to do this in my gymnasium at school. Aproximate 40' x 60' wall. Will these overhead projectors become blurry at that size?

That all depends on the throw ratio of the lensing. You'll have to look at the model of your projector and the manual, and it will give you a throw ratio which you can use to calculate how big the image will be from different distances.

@@LiquidLightLab I cannot find the throw ration. Only the head zoom in millimeters.

@@pauldoucette8317 Another way to get bigger projections is to use multiple projectors, and create a moving collage. That's how the old school folks did it back in the day. It looks really cool that way too.

@Spencer Phelps Check out this video - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rNRnksalttDVmHk.html However, the key part of this artform is to experiment a lot. There is not real rulebook for it. You just have to make it up as you go along.

🙏amazing vid as per usual. Anywhere specific u recommend looking for projectors that are bright enough for this many layers of dye? I find at 3 it starts to get a bit dark:/. Possibly it has to do with my backdrop?

It always important to remember less it more with this stuff. Even a low brightness projector can still do a great image if the dyes are controlled right... for this demo, I used a Dukane 4003

What does the blue ink consist of, or how does it differ from the oil dye? Thanks for sharing your craft and knowledge!

Basically there are oil based dyes, and water based dyes. The blue is a liquid water color.

Hi LLL!, Thanks a lot for making these videos, I have a quick question, I cannot find the equivalent name for this kind of paint (oil dye) in french, is it the kind of oil dye normally used for leather coloring?

No, it is a different kind of dye, although you can try leather coloring and get some interesting results.

Is it safe to run an OHP for long periods of time? 8 hours for example??

Sure, as long as the bulb doesn't burn out, you can run one for as long as you want. Provided the cooling fans are good.

I’ve been following you for about 8 years now. I bought all the materials from you and followed this video and others step by step, while taking very detailed notes of everything and I still suck. I’m still determined to find out why I cannot get my images to look even half as good as yours. By chance does the oil dye and mineral oil go bad after time and not work as well for this kind of quality show?

@@LiquidLightLab can you tell me where you get your oil dye?. I have the Fiebings brand oil dye, and the effect is really terrible. That was indeed my problem
