I'm in the application process for a probation officer position, the order in which they do it is a bit different compared to the standard LE process. I've so far passed my written, oral boards, background check, and polygraph. Next step in the pysch eval and a physical. I'm a bit nervous about the psych, how did yours go?

The best mindset to have for an oral board is (like you said), “I deserve a seat at this table”. Don’t let the panel intimidate you, they are humans just like you.

Steel's Songs Steel's Songs it’s actually a little over 60k a year during the Academy and during probationary time then you get bumped up. I know new p2 making 100k with OT. And just keep trying if it’s a passion to be out there and work within your community. I have a speeding point on my driving record and also I have a past arrest from when I was in college but I never feel discouraged to apply and keep trying. Good to hear your story. I am at the background phase in mine right now. I already did the written, physical and panel interview. The next phase after the background will be the polygraph test. I think I am more nervous about the polygraph than any other part. It is not because I lied or anything like that but it is because I have done physical, interviews, background and written tests before. I have never done a polygraph so I don’t know what to expect. I read that once I am truthful I will be fine so that put me at some ease. I always think that I have lived a boring life because I have never done drugs, except tried marijuana just to taste it, or anything like that. Now that I am applying for my dream job I am happy I had a “boring” life. 🙂

Its all in who you know. I did not get on with any department I tried for years. If it were not for the Undersheriff growing up in the same neighborhood as my mother I would have never gotten offer. All it took was meeting the sheriff and his poor attitude and I walked out on the same day I was hired. Don't think its all going to be peaches and cream, it not. What I have seen for years is many who did get hired were the same kids I saw in school and they were the type that got picked on all the time. When this type gets hired and for many it tends to go to their head and they end up doing dumb things that get them fired or in one case put in prison (PEDO). I live right outside and Army base that supplies the local LE agencies with new recruits, these tend to be the first they hire. Why ? Because the agency heads know these officers are newly discharged from the military and that these recruits will just end up getting their LE credentials here in my state and then transfer back to their home states for LE jobs there. So its beneficial for the departments in my town to hire them since the recruits won't be here long and the local LE agencies don't have to contribute or pay out a retirement.

American White boy XD that means you need to take a civil service exam and if you pass that, you receive an eligibility letter. After the eligibility letter you just wait to become certified. It could take a few years until you get a certification letter. After that, you can express written interest if you're invited to, and from there they'll tell you what you need to do to apply.
@WhatLCSays5 жыл бұрын
I can't speak for others but mine was as simple as applying online and getting a date and time to show up for the written and physical test. No pre-certification needed! What kind of questions did you ask?
@WhatLCSays5 жыл бұрын
I asked them what they thought sets this department apart from others in the area. I also asked about the challenges they face as a department. I asked about the qualities and characteristics that set a good police officer from an average police officer.....and one or 2 more.

Is there a chance they'll find all the jobs you've worked for?

It's important to be truthful on your background packet and answer all the questions truthfully (prior work experience will be one of the questions asked).

@@WhatLCSays I'm in the process for sheriffs detentions the problem is that in 2013 I got fired from one job because I was working slowly
@WhatLCSays2 жыл бұрын
@@bryanquiroga3912 Include that in your packet for reason for leaving and while you're doing your background interview you'll have a chance to explain the circumstances around your firing. Always be truthful!!
@SeudXe2 жыл бұрын
@@bryanquiroga3912 Lying is the absolute worse thing you can do. But you should probably have a good excuse why you were working so slowly. Be honest about it. Maybe you didn't like how your boss was treating you? Tell them if they do ask about it.

Any tips for candidates about to take the written test?
@WhatLCSays3 жыл бұрын
About to film a video on that actually! 1.) relax 2.) take a few practice exams (NYPD, New Orleans, etc have practice questions) 3.) get to your testing sight early so you know where you need to go 4.) get solid sleep the night before Good luck!!
