I wonder how many people, after seeing The Other Guys, came here to KZfaq searching for "Reminiscing"....and found this video with "the other guy"(not the original singer) singing this song?
Too Funny...:):):)
And this video was NOT made because we want John back in LRB(that will never happen). This video was made for friends after John took a break from touring and recording.

@@kevind1931 WTH mate... John doesn't even think that way... he's sings that way because he can.. when you have a voice that is able to do an extreme amount, why would you settle for just singing the melody... different horses for different courses... if you watch Farnham getting interviewed by Roy & Hg, they ask him why he sings the way he does, and over the top... he answers it perfectly..'because he can'... it absolutely has nothing to do with competition... I'm so over this Farnham versus Shorrock debate... who cares, just enjoy both singers for what they do...

As much as everyone loves the vocals from John, what’s even more impressive is that the band had to take the song from its original key up a whole step to accommodate John’s range, and they all are perfect singing harmonies with him.

Got a treat for you... From the Land Down Under... John is Music Royality here, an ICON for all times... John Farnham, started in 1967 and was still performing into his 70s until Covid shut the country down. They put out a doco last year called John Farnham - Finding The Voice (that's what he is affectionately known as here "The Voice), he can sing anything and make it sound great. I'll drop a link or two to give you a taste and warn you if you start reacting to John, the Aussie Army will flood your channel. LOL if you decide to go exploring, make sure you only watch "Live" performances, he loves his fans and they love him back. He is the most down to earth loveable person, humble, funny and extremely talented. He even was the frontman for LRB for a time in the early eighties. First the trailer...kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gtWTdsmUmravonk.html the next is one of the encores at the end of a 2+ hour concert 1986, a John Lennon number but John's version (JL heard it before he passed and said that was the way the song was meant to sound)...kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mtxlZ8qatLm2e6c.html 1991 with another Aussie Legend Jimmy Barnes doing an old Sam Cook number.. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7FpqMt40tzTZok.html 1994 (while chewing gum LOL).. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mr2EeMikx52qoo0.html 1999 With Human Nature doing a Jackson Five number kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7FpqMt40tzTZok.html 2000 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7FpqMt40tzTZok.html So many to choose from, hope you like them. 💞

John Farnham's career launched to another level as a result of his involvement with LRB (Little River Band). He had to endure a lot of negative press personally through this time replacing LRB's founding lead singer Glen Shorrock who gave LRB much of their presence & respect in the music community, & deservedly so. John's vocal range & his ability to understand how to sing certain types of songs became very noticeable to everyone through this period with LRB. He went on to stand on his own 2 feet & be part of a band under his own name that produced the highest selling domestic Australian Album of all-time (at the time & possibly still). In the modern music world as a male vocalist, he still has few peers world-wide. An amazing voice that influenced & inspired many vocalists & performers here in Australia. Long live JPF!!

Trust me, as a trained vocalist, and not an image monger, I can attest that he is indeed one of the best pop vocalists that ever lived. It’s not just about hitting notes folks but also about tone, power, and vocal quality. And John Farnham had all of the above and then some, and then some again. It was the image mongers, like the morons over at Rolling Stone that kept him from getting the credit he deserved. Farnham’s voice was freakishly good.

Friday night it was late, I was walking you home We got down to the gate, I was dreaming of the night Would it turn out right? How to tell you girl, I want to build my world around you Wanna tell you that it's true I wanna make you understand I'm talking about a lifetime plan Well that's the way it began, we were hand-in-hand Glen Miller's band was better than before We yelled and screamed for more And those Porter's tunes made us dance across the room It ended all too soon On the way back home I promised you'd never be alone Hurry, don't be late I can't hardly wait I said to myself when we're old We'll go dancing in the dark, walking through the park And reminiscing Friday night it was late, I was walking you home We got down to the gate, I was dreaming of the night Would it turn out right? Now as the years roll on, each time we hear our favorite song The memories come along Older times we're missing, spending the hours reminiscing Hurry, don't be late I can't hardly wait I said to myself when we're old We'll go dancing in the dark, walking through the park And reminiscing

And, to accommodate John's higher voice than Shorrock's, they had to sing in a higher key. Man, they should've done more harmonies in higher keys. Absolutely perfect harmonies from Graeham, Beebs, & Wayne.

joe schmo You're absolutely right... John Farnham deserves much better than to be referred to as... "this guy"! I must have been under a rock or something, cause the very first time I ever heard him sing was when I made that comment... I'd put a cover of this song here on YT and was browsing for other versions....Naturally I was mesmerized - being a singer myself, and I'm still in awe..... If I ever cover this again... I'm gonna (try) to do it like John!!!!

I saw the Little River Band(minus John) in Vegas last year and enjoyed the show immensely. The lead singer John has an awesome voice...wish he had been there.

Have always loved this song, but was never a Farnham fan...until now! Guess I just never connected with his solo efforts of the 80s/90s. What an amazing performance of a beautiful tune. Glad I stumbled across this.

As a pretty casual LRB fan, but having combed through a ton of the different versions of the songs over the last few years, it seems like this cat has way more personality and stage presence. The originals are great, as well, and certainly Mr.Shorrock has a certain je ne sais quoi, that strong silent type thing, but there's way more energy at these live versions by Mr.Farnham....as if anyone cares....hiyo! Just m 2 cents...

John Farnham is his name. He's a fabulous all round guy. Great sence of humour. He had massive success in Australia as a solo artist. There's lots of his videos here on KZfaq - including a playlist l have put together -- 'Little River Band- plus John Farnham solo'. He's semi retired now.

He's had an astounding solo career. Look for John Farnham singing "when Something is wrong with my baby" with Jimmy Barnes and "help" with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. You won't be disappointed. He is out of this world.

John Farnham is "The Voice" in Australia. I have loved him since I was 14 years old, when I first saw him on stage. (For the Australians here, it was at Roselands in Sydney) Not only does he have phenomenal vocals, he is truly a nice guy with a great sense of humour.. He is battling some health issues at the moment and I pray for a complete recovery.❤🙏❤🙏❤

One of the many reasons that the Farnham era wasn’t comparatively successful is that they sound John Farnham’s backing band. It’s not a bad thing. It’s just a testament to Farnham’s vocal ability and stage presence. He upstaged them almost everything. He sticks out like a sore thumb.
