1981 was the final year of Glenn Shorrock as the band's vocalist before he left. Little River Band was never the same after he gone. Even John Lennon loved this song so much

I was fortunate enough to see them live twice in Vancouver around this time. Pretty sure it was 81, so probably on this tour. For me this is my favourite song ever.

I saw them in Medford Oregon in the late 70s. The were touring with Heart and Bob Welch, I have seen countless bands to this day they were by far the best musicians I have ever heard!! One of my favorites song

Goble came up with extended chords that most rock bands wouldn't touch. It's not a usual way of thinking on guitar so I wonder where he got that influence.

Jazz legend Glenn Miller who began making records in the 1920s has way more top ten hits than Elvis Presley and way more top ten hits than The Beatles. He would feel happy and proud hearing he's mentioned in such a truly, romantic manner in this song by The Little River Band 5 decades after his songs were first heard on radio.

My dad was a big Glen Miller fan, born in 1919, one of the Greatest Generation. This is such a lovely song on many different levels. I love how LRB incorporated two different generations into this song with the reference to GM and Cole Porter (my dad’s generation) with my own generation, listening to this song as a college student in the late 70’s. Beautiful voice and harmonies. I think Shorrock turns 80 on the 30th. Happy birthday Mr. Shorrock.

Second concert I ever attended - Little River Band 1981 Universal Amphitheater - Universal City, Ca. Drove 4 hours round trip to see them. 😊

Followed The Twilights in Adelaide originally, then they became Little River Band, then finally LRB. Greatest harmonies, smooth flow. I agree with 3 things. The original band should be in Hall of Fame. LRB was not the same after Glen Shorrock left. Australia should have sorted out name kidnapping.

I saw this LRB (not the phony one that goes around without original members) on the same bill as the Eagles in 1980. You want to know who sounded best? LRB, by a long shot. It was quite a treat...I still remember it well. Australia's courts need to re-address the matter of name-ownership. Such a distinction LRB has conferred upon Australia..and they can't use their name???? This NEEDS to change.

I come from just near the town of Little River, where the band took it's name from. My only question is, when will that bloke ever finish building that damn boat? Everyone who has been there, knows what I'm talking about. Maybe we need to organise a working bee in order to get that thing on the water.
