I’ve been loving the Loki show. This episode I think was the most well acted and written for the character Loki, in that he still shows mischievous tendencies. He’s become “good” because he wants to stop the threat of the Kangs and sees that the TVA is necessary. Also love his dynamic with Mobius and how far they’ve come since S1, I feel like this was more believable development for Loki to see their friendship progress into coworkers. The 1950’s office aesthetic still impresses me and I love the charming creativity of the show.

This was a good episode. It felt like one of the main themes was choosing who you want to be, even when outside forces are trying to tell you that you're really someone different. It actually reminded me of the Matrix. Brad made the choice to become an actor, instead of working for the TVA and he might have been a reference to Cypher who wanted to be put back in the Matrix and be "someone important... like an actor" Mobius made the choice to stay the person he is, and not look at who he could have been if he had never been taken to work in the TVA, and had his memories wiped. Loki made the choice to not be the villain. Sylvie made the choice to go away from the TVA even though Loki told her that she'll go back to the TVA in the future. I can't wait to see more episodes. They must have gone back in time to film that response to your observation that this was not the same Loki as in the movies I got the Doctor Who vibe as well.

So a little late to the party (life got in the way) - however, watched this episode with my children tonight, and whilst I thought there was some really interesting dynamics - I kinda think there's some emotional/story continuity issues here. It was VERY reflective, to the point that I don't think they had any of the urgency of ep1. Also, the "torture scenes" just didn't make sense to me... I mean, they locked the door from the inside, even though he wasn't constrained? But it was more the narrative dissonance of the TVA caring that timelines were being pruned - when that was basically their only job (to preserve the sacred timeline). I also felt that Sylvie's character seemed less interesting... maybe that will change, but given that the whole TVA is looking for her - she seemed more like a side-character so far. This episode had a lot of promise - but it left more worrying feelings than positive (and I know ep 3 has already dropped). EDIT - sorry - had to add this. Spot on - this is the Disney attempt to do Doctor Who (except from a reformed Master's perspective).

Thumbnail had me worried they already dropped the ball somehow on episode 2.

Looking forward to this episode now, interested to see how they handle the death of Loki as you say. It was jarring how easily Loki from the show who started as just freshly being defeated by the Avengers in the first movie ended back up at the same loveable scamp that he turned into by Ragnarok/Infinity War.

I love your review, but I didn't watch the same show. Here's how I differ, but please trust me when I say I had fun disagreeing as much as I had fun agreeing. It's just that I'd rather talk about the disagreement. so, in a bunch : - Sylvie doesn't hit on the kid, she makes sure he's okay. - I don't think they had a whole figurative ceremony for the death of the loki you loved. I don't even think he's dead. - I don't think anyone seriously says Loki wrecks timelines either. I like the idea, but it's just TVA mindgames. - the tva didn't know what they did. Now they do. That's why some of them are devastated. They are now killing billions of real people instead of correcting the course of real histories. I wouldn't be surprised that some may WANT to forget about that later on.

I gave up on Loki. Just another great villain Disney has neutered. Why? Because villains don't get views...apparently. And the problem in this second episode is that chaos isn't evil. Chaos existed before order was created. It's a primal state that gave way for creation. Disney needs to study Norse mythology a lot more. I feel like the writers had to address how Loki isn't Loki anymore because of all the fan backlash from the horrible first season.

I like the bad Loki more than this one because that Loki had a fully developed charred arc that has been upended by this show. This Loki and the Loki who died in Infinity War are two completely different characters. That Loki died a villain doing something right. He had already "reformed" to use your word. This Loki completely negates that character's sacrifice and the actual journey he went on. Disney Marvel's bad writing is trying to convince you Loki died a villain and was never redeemed when, in fact, he was. And all of this multiverse nonsense just undid one of the best redemption arcs in movies. Loki's redemption is similar to that of Darth Vader's in that in the end, their villainy gave way to their humanity, if just for a fleeting moment. And Disney Marvel undid all of that with this show and all of that multiverse nonsense. I have no interest in this show. Loki is dead. Long live Loki.

So far it's mediocre. So many things are wrong. The wimping out of Loki - who should be scheming and killing and taking names but - Disney...argh, they can't do certain things. The silly sci fi plot that Marvel keeps reducing to a sub intellectual cartoon. Owen Wilson just playing himself. But I do think Tom Hiddleston is one of the best things in the MCU. This show has failed for 2 seasons to let Loki be good by being bad. He's muthafkin Loki, for Asgards sake! When Loki gonna Loki!
