1983.....I was at Keymer Crossing on that day, I remember the E.C.S running, and also remember it had to go back from Brighton and do the Gatwick-Brighton bit a second time.

@@DJ_K666 Truth is, there were many trains between London and Brighton, if the film train got caught behind a slow passenger train at Preston Park or outside Brighton they needed to do that section again. ("Greens all the way" as George Farmer used to say.)

Loved this when it went out a few times in the eighties. I've got family down there - my cousin's husband proposed to her under Balcombe viaduct. Reminds me of so many happy times long gone...

This was actually shot in 1983 and original broadcast on Friday 15th July of that year.

Yes, this is a completely new version, made in the mid-late Eighties (cannot recall the exact year - sorry) which was made on the 30th anniversary of the Fifties original.

I remember seeing this when I was a kid - I was totally fascinated by it! I made a tune a few years ago called I Travel with this film in mind, and I've finally put the two together. Have a look/listen on my KZfaq channel...
