I agree Smash. I might even be harsher in my criticisms of PE2, but I still absolutely loved the game and count it as one of my favorite games ever. I doubt it will age well, but there was a time when it was the greatest game to me, and I believe it deserves to be fondly remembered in the context of what it was at the time.

@@Ryan-to9vh i think it aged well but then again i'm one of those people who think modern games are missing something that made a lot of ps1 and some snes games so amazing. chrono trigger for the snes still amazes me more than most modern rpgs, even graphically. i find it much nicer to look at than ff15, which i think just looks bland and boring, despite its much higher polygon count.

I do intend to do 3rd birthday as well. Just gotta find a PSP emulator cause I got no way to capture footage on mine. I'm thinking gameplay-wise I'll be able to play 3rd birthday just fine.. but there's other changes in that game that worry me haha.

PPSSPP is a good PSP emulator. It seems to run the few games I've tried on it really well. I haven't tested 3rd Birthday though.

At the very least, having beat those modes before you probably already have a rather intimate knowledge of the game, so this should help you play around a lot of its design flaws pretty well. That said, if it's your first time playing it in years you might notice a little more of what I'm talking about haha. This is a game that I think the more familiar you are with it the better you can work around it and the more enjoyable it becomes, but that first blind playthrough can be pretty rough.

Its definitely not mine haha. There's just 1 major thing wrong with it that irritated me all the way through. That said, as much as I love survival horrors I think you love them even more than I do so this is a little more up your alley and the first one a little more up mine. And for anybody that sees this dude ^ In my comment section go give his channel a check! He's one of the most genuine dudes on the platform!

mine too. i liked the first game s lot but found it too easy. i like the added challenge in 2.

i've actually never beat 2 yet. first time i played on got stuck on that huge boss on the rooftop and my 2nd playthrough i got past that but quit to start playing a new game. im now playing it for the 3rd time, determined to beat it this time.

If only all classics were created equally. This vid is likely going to cause some anger eventually lol.

@@civilwarfare101 i think it aged fine. i didnt play through it til like 15 yrs after it came out and i loved it. it takes a lot of patience, there are a lot of deep systems that take quite some time to master. after beating the game twice i still don't fully understand everything.

Hey, thanks! My videos used to be supreme shit and I do strive to improve them so the recognition means a lot. And I fully agree on the first half. While I do think the direction they were going for could have been good I prefer the original mechanics and some consistency. From what I understand it only gets more inconsistent by the 3rd game..

Zedd I don't think he was saying to compare the quality, he was just pointing out that when a series follows a certain kind of pattern of change the results are often similair. And if you enjoy the game that's great, a lot of people do enjoy it, but it's definitely got some heavy flaws that make it a pain to play (as I stated in the video) with out a pre existing intimate knowledge of the game. By your admission you have that knowledge.

Unfortunate you misread my comment Zedd, but Tark summed it up well. Modern-for-the-time games or sequels are very likely to be neutered or mutated (and usually dumbed-down) versions of games that came before them, in heavy exchange for better graphics and/or an attempt at grabbing a greater casual market. I was pointing out this even happens to games in the same series, ie PE 1 and 2; survival horror games were gaining popularity at this point, but is definitely more common now than ever. There's a dramatic tonal and gameplay shift between these two games that isn't just jarring but plain unwelcome, especially if you were a fan of PE1, its systems, gameplay, and tone.

I know that comment its old but i agree with you, i played the Parasite Eve 1 and i like so much that i did normal ending and true ending. I didnt finish Parasite Eve 2 im at desert part but im very disappointed with this game but im gonna try finish. Parasite Eve 2: -Story full of plotholes like Aya say the giant flamethrower its the biggest thing she seen but she forgot about T-rex boss and slime giant carrying eve? -Why doesnt Daniel, Ben and Maeda do appearance i mean Maeda its the one who understand mitochondria he should working with Aya and making special bullets or upgrading her guns. -Honestly i dont like kyle and aya together its feels forced... i mean aya says Kyle its a jerk but start to like him but in PE1 Wayne its a jerk flirting with her and Aya says to him "cut the crap" -Does this game explain why Aya abandoned NYPD? .They shouldn't removed the rpg style that whats maked the PE1 different from other games now its looks a generic game/clone from RE/Dino Crisis... -I hate the green HUD, its confusing and the tanks controls why!!... -Aya in PE1 its more serious and focused Detective but in P2 she acts like a newbie and its much weaker around enemies comparaded to PE1. -What happened to liberate?
