This is amazing guitar solo played by Judas Priest's K.K. Downing in 2010 at British Steel 30th Anniversary concert. Enjoy watching!

@@JM00237 I wouldn’t say Iron Maiden is garbage. I think that they actually make good songs, but based on a set formula catered to their fan base. However I saw both bands live in their heyday during the late 80’s and early 90’s and Maiden doesn’t hold a candle to what Judas Priest could do onstage. Watching Maiden was like seeing an aerobics show with Bruce Dickerson jumping all over the place and the solos for example were standard. Judas Priest though was no less than a mind blowing experience and the JP crew really mastered their skills. Halford’s vocals were like screams from the Greek gods themselves and the guitar playing and solos were to the point of leaving you mesmerized. It was musicianship as its finest.

what channel I agree with you, he was probably the first real shredder, save for Hendrix obviously - and I know K.K. was a huge fan of his playing... but he took what Hendrix did and expanded upon it, brought guitar-wankery to new levels and subsequently & pretty much single-handedly, influenced just about everyone from that point onwards. that is KK Downing at the peak of his powers....aging, but even better...like a Jedi master....unlike others who slow down, he increased and sped up...go back and watch the same song from US festival 1982, or previous live versions on KZfaq, you can see how much better he got with age, he elaborated and expanded the solo far beyond what he could do in his younger years, instead of dumbing it down, he just kept getting better with time. that solo is hitting Jimmy Page level c. 1973, and breaking into Hendrix virtuosity...very few guitarists retain their powers like that with age, Ritchie Blackmore is another one that got better with age. BTW, KK has cited he was a bigger fan of Hendrix, than Zeppelin or Black Sabbath, and it shows in that solo.
