I tore my meniscus and part of my ACL back in January. I had to wait almost 2 months for surgery. In the surgery they had to cut into my tendon (which they usually try to avoid) so basically I have been confined to bed - again. Workouts used to be my release and yes, I did go a bit insane, and my mind has gone to dark places in the meantime. My release was a diary (and writing down everything I want to do once I can walk again), focusing on whatever work I could do from my laptop, prayer, and the fact that I know people need me (for instance, my son). I am still very limited on what I can do. I don't know how long it will take to recover fully, but I decided I will focus into the future. Also, talking to people who also went through knee surgery. When they tell you, ''hey, I walked again, you will too''. All this to say - Hope can keep you going. We will suffer in this life, it will not be all roses, but it will also not all be thorns. Thanks for your videos - I discovered your channel after the injury. Thank you.

That's a good point. But I have to say that my dad was the man I looked up to and wanted to be like. I tried my best to be that man for my son to look up to. My son has told me that he does look up to me. I then tell him to be better than me. He has his doubts but I encourage him to strive to be better than me.

I had a rough time when I turned 25. I had no job, no car, no GF. I was still in school and living with my parents. That was not what 20 years old me thought it would be. It all flipped when I was 26. I realized that the more specific your goals are, the higher chance you will deviate from it and be disappointed. I now have guidelines and directions rather than specific goals.

When Life goes off course, 1. Be still & KNOW God has a plan, 2. The biggest part of the problem is the Guy you look at every morning when you shave, make him better. 3. Find a community to encourage you and keep you accountable. 4. Find someone to help or a way to serve your community, it's hard to be down when you're helping others up. It puts our problems in perspective. 5. And 1. are related Pray and grow closer to God, for those who don't believe I guess you can grow closer to what ever you do believe in that is greater than yourself.

Being 63 And finally seeing retirement in my future is a blessing. I knew at a young age I wanted to 1 get married have kids start a business.I did all 3 but I had alcohol problems which was a huge problem. I ballooned to 300 lbs couldn't get a handle on diet. I was a disaster my business and family life suffered. I thank God my wife stuck with me. What saved me was finding the low carb diet in my mid fifties allowing me to drop 125 lbs and start exercising. that gave me HOPE I knew only I could turn my physical problems around. Never give up keep fighting. At 63 I feel better than ever and was tested pos for covid a week ago and got thru that pretty easily Save your money drive a beater car my Honda has 220 thousand miles but it's cheap. These are tough times and watching these types of messages helps. Thanks

What I do; I just keep going. I refuse to give up, I adapt and overcome. My time overseas during the war, I saw so many people die. Men, woman, kids, I had to kill people just to live or to save innocent people who didn't deserve to die. I even saw two of my best friends delete themselves while in Iraq. Every single day, someone tried to kill me and my brothers and sisters (Army MP). Me personally, I have been shot, stabbed and blown-up multiple times... but yet I am still here. While dealing with everything overseas, my grandfather died of cancer, and I couldn't even be there for him as he died or his funeral because I was stuck in Iraq. In one year, my entire life was destroyed, and I didn't think I could make it. So, I just chose to move forward, and I am glad I did. Nobody said life was going to be easy, everyone has to deal with it in their own way. But I can tell you this, life can be good, if you just choose for it to be good. Take things slow, take on one problem at a time, and never, ever give up. Too many people have already suffered, just for you to suffer as well. So build on that to try to make the future a better place, for everyone.

So this video is very timely, I lost my son back In February. What has gotten me through it, time alone, once i was past the danger time (was seriously seriously sad) go figure out how to be alone, time in nature, go for a long drive, something, get someplace where you can yell and scream and get it out. Second Journaling, that has helped immensely with my process. Third, gym! Get out of your head, hell go to the gym just go through the motions, do something! Bonus tip, spend time with friends and family. In person not online. Get off the phone a d into real life. Things not to do, alcohol and drugs, just say no. It's really easy to just drink your problems away, your numbing it, not processing it. Heal healthily gents!

Whoever the writer is, know that you are loved and not alone. I’ve been there to some extent and know the pain you can experience from loss among other things. I’ve found that some of the things that really help me is exercising or find a hobby/skill you would enjoy doing in your spare time. Lastly, spending time by the beach or going on a walk somewhere allows you to take in the beauty of nature. Best wishes to you and everyone else going through their own path of challenges. ❤

My comment may not be so popular but I feel it needs to be said. "Don't make other people's problems your problems". Some of the most difficult times in my life have been spent trying to help people who really don't want to be helped. They just wanted there victim mindset to be validated. Yes I still try to help those in need BUT I have also learned to move past those who only want to commiserate in there own pity party. Not everyone wants to be saved. This lesson has saved me countless hours of pain.

Antonio you are a former USMC officer so you do have a lot to offer. These life lesson videos are great. I think a lot of people hate them, but there is a lot of people out there that need to hear them. I have a friend that is already in his mid 30s but still an incel literally living in his mother's basement. Despite of what some of our mutual friends and I have tried, Covid gave him the excuse he needed to never leave home and spend most of his life online. It finally reached the point where most of us stopped talking to him because of the negativity. It is especially frustrating when he would ask for your advice but rarely act on them. I agree with you on keeping expectations modest. Like you I didn't have a particularly great childhood. I simply couldn't have imagined in my 50s I would be a retired Army officer with a great family. Along the way, often things didn't go according to plans. I enlisted in the Marines and went to boot camp as soon as I finished high school. I wanted to go to OCS but it was the early 90s during the RIF and I knew I had no chance, so I took an Army ROTC commission. Many times my career didn't go according to plans. I learned sometimes it was all about timing, needs of the service, and not our personal abilities. I saw my friends who are clearly better officers than I got passed over a certain rank while I made it. I think these days so many people have unrealistic expectations. So many people think they deserve a six digit figure salary within three years of graduating from college. They had not experienced real failures, hardship, and tragedies, and they have not developed the coping skills. Keep up the good work brother. Semper Fi.

Truly appreciate this video wow! This is genuine and heartfelt. This is a legit video that people really need to pay attention to. I too am 46, NOTHING has gone to plan for me. Abused as a child for over a decade, was life flighted near death 3 times with asthma then in 09 I got cancer and nearly died. Last year I had to file bankruptcy over my dogs medical bills. He was hit by a car and I ended up paying 8k to keep him. I get through each day by simply praying and I have had to take on another job to survive. Its VERY difficult to be happy when you have nobody and nothing. But I am living proof it can be done, so if you are out there reading this, do not throw the towel in.

I’m 29, I lost my wife this past January, age 28. You don’t think of being a widow before your 30’s, before doing all the things we had planned to do with our lives, starting a family and a business. My advice is allowing time to process this information, find something that keeps your mind sharp to not allow yourself to sink into bad habits. Give yourself quiet time to think, without music or any noise in the background. And do not push out others who are willing to help, because no one makes it in this work completely alone.

Late twenties, get back to me when your 50, kids have attitude, your tired of work, your partner is distant and life just has no joy in it anymore. I have been thinking about my death a lot lately and feel that my life is wasted with no meaning and I will just disappear into nothing with a legacy of achieving nothing and leaving no impact on anyone. I am not crying and blaming anyone, quite the opposite, I am a quiet and humble guy, I never wanted to be filthy rich, or famous, I wanted to be me, and sadly, I feel like I turned out to not be someone people would like to get to know.

First I need to say- I absolutely love the channel and it has helped me tremendously in several instances. That being said, at the current moment my life is in a great place, but that wasn't always the case. My wife is a disabled Navy veteran and that has presented challenges. We have been homeless, our first child was born with serious physical disabilities, and I have personally struggled with an anxiety condition and a heart attack 3 years ago. But through it all, I have learned one inevitable truth. Be your own best friend. Yes, you need a support system from friends and family- very important- but learn to love yourself and appreciate the things that you think make you great. Enjoy yourself and be passionate about whatever you choose to do. I am a groundskeeper at a golf course, and although it doesn't pay a lot, I love it, and it makes me very happy. Do things for yourself that make you happy. Take risks if you have to to achieve that happiness. You are worth it. And remind yourself every day that you only have one shot at this life so make it count. And don't be afraid to take sound advice from others to make yourself better. Antonio Centeno is a great place to do that. Great wisdom and character.

Antonio, at 68 years old and a retired Optometrist and USAF Lt Col, there are so many things to say here, but one that keeps coming up in retirement is surrounding myself with good men, especially ones that will build you up. When you're a little down or lonely, a quick text from these guys or a breakfast can really help. Being part of a team is tougher when you don't have an automatic structure like in our military years. Another saying I keep with me at all times came from Lou Holtz on a College GameDay years ago. In a spoof, Lloyd Carr, who had just retired as the Michigan head football coach, asks "Dr. Lou" what he should do as he's tired of fishing and playing golf. Lou says, "Lloyd, there's 4 things you need in you life; Something to do, Someone to love, Something to look forward to, and Something to believe in"! I try to make sure my life as hopefully a good, God-loving man includes all parts of "The Lou Holtz Four." Number one is so important in that men need something to do! Nothing can bring men down more than when just lazing around without purpose. Thanks for listening - love your videos and super advice on fashion and fragrance.... Mark Greenwell

This video is going to help so many men out there. I’m also going through tough times right now, due to a lot of things on my plate (KZfaq, TikTok, Instagram, Relationship, Job & Looking For A New Job In Another City) but the thing is - it’s going to be alright. You need to remember that whatever you’re going through, might be much, much worse than what I’m going through, just remember that whenever time has passed and you’ve healed or you’ve figured it out, all will be fine and you will be okay. In the moment, you might feel that you feel miserable and your life sucks and it might do, for now, but in the end, you’ll be okay. A key point to take away from my comment is that time heals and that you should only think about things that YOU can CONTROL. If there’s something you can do about the situation, then do whatever you can to change it for your benefit. If there’s nothing you can do, let it be and move on. Gentlemen, go out and be great! Be the best versions of yourselves & have an amazing day. ❤

39 year old guy. Have had some ups and downs. Here's what I would say: 1. The only way you lose is to give up. Every day you are upright and ready to take on your problems is one day closer to solving them- no matter how large they may seem. 2. Life is a path of peaks and valleys, and we all walk our own path through them. It is natural to wish for nothing but peaks and curse the valleys, but just like a mountain and the meadows there cannot be one without the other. Remember you are only at either one for a short period of time- so cherish the times when you reach those peaks, and stay strong and resolute through the valleys. The valleys are there to remind you how great the peaks are, and the peaks remind you how far you've climbed from the valleys. No matter how dark or hopeless it seems, there is always another peak just around the corner waiting for you. 3. Being fired is overrated. I was fired 11 years ago by a group of very evil people because I refused to do something that would put people in danger. I spent almost all of my life's savings and 6 months of my life unemployed, absolutely depressed and miserable. Then I started a new job- one that I felt my bosses were honorable, the work was far more interesting, and now I'm making double of what I would be had I stayed (had I given away my dignity and self respect). Think of being fired as a temporary setback for a longer term set up. 4. Doing the right thing is never something to be ashamed of- it is a badge of honor to wear with pride. Weak men lie, cheat, obfuscate, and connive. They will try to deceive and brainwash you into accepting the lies they tell. Strong men can recognize and tell the truth, no matter what. 5. No matter where you are or what you do, God is always with you and will always love you. If the Creator of the entire universe has your back, who can stop you? I personally pity anybody that stands in your way. Now stand up, brush yourself off, and show the world what you are made of.

You mentioned my go-to for when I’m feeling down or defeated. Do something for someone else. Might be a friend, might be a colleague, might be a complete stranger. I have found when I am thinking of how I can make someone else’s day better, I am not thinking about how poorly my day is going!

when life kicks me down I just remember these 4 quotes 1 Don't lose sight 2 If I could do it all again then I would do it twice 3 its Nice to be important but it's More important to be nice 4 believe it, you can achieve it. this is what helps me get though some hard times

I believe when I was young (teenage) I was "self-taught" that if life throws me lemons, make lemonade! In 1986 for two and half months I had a girlfriend, for a reason unknown to me she left! Didn't speak to her until sometime in 1990 on the telephone. Thus at that time her and were OK about things! haven't spoken to her since then, nor written to her! maybe I should of kept in contact, unless she didn't want to have anything to with me, she may of said so! Or was I correct to back off and leaver her alone? I don't know. I have applied the Gentleman's principal to respect women at all times, gents as well! I believe its all about perspective of life! That if something is going to go wrong, it will! Murphy's Law of Life! We must be prepared for life's challenges, and not wait till something goes wrong! Besides as you *are a dad* _I believe its your responsibility to teach your children thus!_ *_No offense intended!_*

I would like to add, a few years ago (before Covid19) I had a mid heart attack, the good news I;m still alive 😀 it was just my RCA. In 2008 I undertook a first aid course, and learnt about heart attacks so therefore, I was prepared. And yes things do go wrong, but some people thing it only happens to Americans, cow dung it does! In Australian we have an university _(doesn't really exist)_ call *_The Outback University of Australia,_* in other words _School of Life_ but there's degrees like a PhD etc. Even in the future, I expect that something *will* go wrong, no idea what it will be, but I'm prepared! Like the Boy Scouts honour saying, _Be Prepared!_

one very helpful thing to do is gratitude journaling. All the things you are grateful for. You don't even have to write them down if you think it is too much, just think about them every morning but writing makes them more rooted. Things you are grateful for could be the fact you are in good health and don't have a terminal disease, a friend, a family member, living in a good area, etc. On a side note, hats off to you Mr. Antonio, I started watching your videos years ago when I wanted to learn how to tie a tie. And since then you've been a great source of information about style, confidence, and looking good. And now you are evolving to be a positive guide for men to follow. Thank you so much.

In regards to Theodore Roosevelt, at the time it was simply the Dakota territory. Medora today is in North Dakota right near Theodore Roosevelt National Park. He had some very exciting adventures during his time out there. I would 100% recommend more people study his life as his was truly a remarkable one. Personally I've also had the experience of going out and moving to come back from a setback. I had been fired from what I considered a dream job. A few days later after sitting around on my butt I went out for a walk and prayed. It was during that walk that I felt that I got my spark back. That was in spring of 2009. Fast forward to now and the fire that spark lit has yet to be extinguished. I'm happily married with two wonderful children, started a new career that is flourishing, and am in a position to be a mentor to those coming into my career field. Forget what you see in Hollywood. Progress will be one step and one day at a time. It'll be slow and there will be setbacks, but get up, keep moving forward, and one day you'll amaze yourself at how far you've come.

I was fired from my dream job after 20 years. My father died. A few years later my mom died. I had to get a pacemaker in the midday of the pandemic. Then I decided to go to my nieces soccer match and photograph her game. Then I went back to her high school to photograph the rest of her season. They ended up becoming state champions. All along I would get messages from the players and parents of how much they appreciated the pictures. A month after the season ended they had an awards ceremony. Two of the players started to talk about me and how I had captured their moment in time. I really had not thought about how I was doing something for someone else when so much had been taken away. We’ll now photography is my passion again and I look forward to a new future.

I've helped several friends in the last couple weeks who are going in a really rough patch. I think the pandemic had a effect on a lot of young men who feel helpless by the situation and a lot of things in our societies that are getting worse. It's getting heavy at some point, but I am trying to lead by example and to be a leaning and helping ear for them. I myself often fall when I stumble towards the light, but I keep going in the hopes that my steps makes it easier for those who follows, including my children. That's all I can do.

Wow...okay.... so. I just found out last evening that i have 2 months left at my job, had to tell my wife because she is my #1 responsibility, and we were both looking for potential options last night till a very unhealthy hour. She konked out and i just couldn't sleep... ended up spending some time in prayer to God and just pouring out my heart, telling him how much of a failure i feel like, asking why i just can't have one of those lives where the guy has a happy, rock solid job, that the wife can have complete confidence he is a financial stalwart. Finally was able to get to sleep after unloading my tourtured mind. Woke up this morning....and here was your video waiting for me... a major help!!!! Thank you soo much.

Another great video! My advice is to regularly practice gratitude, even (or especially) when it seems hardest to do so. Nothing creates a better sense of appreciation for what you do have in your life more than finding something to be grateful for, even if it's the most miniscule thing like having electricity or breath in your lungs. This can help fend off depression too, so by showing gratitude for something every day you may eventually find that while life may not always go as planned, it can still be a pretty great life. Keep up the great work, Antonio, and stay strong my brothers!

As a student in college studying photography, I recently found that taking photos of anything around me helps with my anxiety disorder. The more I explore what’s around me, the more I can get creative with my photos. Then I learned that taking photos makes my mind focus on one thing at a time and removes the negative thoughts. Not sure if photography is a good therapy, but if it is, I would agree with that.

I feel you buddy, my life isn't were I wanted to be at this point. In debt up my eyeballs, wife wants a divorce, health isn't great. All you can do pick up the pieces and move on. Have to come up with a new plan and go for it. You can either sit there in misery or make changes and move on. It's not easy believe me, just do the best you can do. The one piece of advice I can give, enjoy the small victories.

I have been dead twice due to chronic health issues, my wife of 20 years died from cancer. I have been broke for most of my life and I have been told by doctors that I would never be able to work a job. Through all of this I have kept my faith in God and in myself. Now I work usually 60 hours a week. Faith is the core of my life and it works for me.
