I refit the radiator, replace all the cooling pipes, fill the car with oil and water and attempt to start it.

I've just fitted a Lotusbits 3 core rad to my Excel, they also did me a decent used lower duct for £50+vat. I'd dump the Otterswitch and housing, they're a comon source of leaks. I bought a new housing, thermostatic switch and clamp kit from Stoney Racing for £25 delivered and I'm very pleased with the quality. I've also converted to SPAL fans (mounting kit from Lotusbits), which gets rid of the (now fragile) fan shroud and are much more efficient and quieter.

Hi Neil great job with the car. You have taken on some serious jobs with it. I have ran and 1986 se for the last 31 years. Fantastic car. Only comment did you use 20w50 oil because the climate your living in or was it recommended.

Thanks for taking an interest Robin. I use 20w50 oil because that was recommended. I live in Luxembourg and the climate here is not much different to the South East of England.
