3:08 I love that little noise she made. No one could play Niao Niao better than Lusi. She brings so much to the table. This palace period was Niao Niao’s happy time when she was living with the empress who loved her like a daughter and also she has fallen in love with Zisheng.

What a difference between the princess, and the heroine. Fifth Princess admits to her mother's face wants to run the banquet so she can embezzle funds to support her boy toys, while Niao Niao uses her own modest funds and personal hard manual labor to make a treat to cheer up the Empress. I already admired the Emperor and his wives for enforcing frugality but when he refuses to encourage the production of luxury food over the staples of life I really love him as a ruler who cares. It would seem harmless but making it easy for farmers to produce cheap sweetener would cut grain production which in good years would raise food prices causing malnutrition and hunger among the poor, and in bad years of famine starvation for many. Even with her previously neglected education Niao Niao gets it. Fifth Princess just sulks.

Shaoshang confused face and Zisheng's happy laugh will keeping it low is soo good. Will have yo rewatch it again i dont even how manh times a have watched it.

Lusi here is incredibly cute 💜💜💜 Buyi's proud look at his wife is just 😘💚💚💚 Think one of the reason fifth princess hate Shaoshang is she never offered the fifth princess a taste 🤣 joke.

This scene show the typical favoritism/plotting & tyranny of royal children towards other palace attendants be it servants or noble family members placed in the palace to gain experience or silent favors from the imperial family. Shaoshang is street smart not paper smart (yet) thus making the 5th princess jealous that a mere servant has stolen her thunder. Hopefully this internal struggle of power/favoritism will not turn deadly.

Niao Niao couldn't understand why Zisheng household got the 200. Fifth Princess was so jealous rolling her eyes at Niao Niao and everything she said 😅

Zhao Lusi is really.a genius. I didn't like her vibe in the first drama I watched her in. She's not my type. But she just got better and better at acting and portraying the charm of a character that I couldn't help but fall for her. I watch everything she stars in now.

Miss watching this show.

I wish Luo Jitong had actually been the way she portrayed herself. Her character's situation added another perspective, and it's a shame she ended up being a psycho.
