Playing Wacken was a bucket list gig for Miho. Two years as a band and they achieved Miho's dream, absolutely amazing.

Miho's dream come true and she actually looked nervous at the start. Miyako and Midori as usual had ice water flowing in them. Asami really pumped the crowd up. This was a Noon show on a small side stage and once they started the place packed out to overflowing. The talk of the crowd beside the J/Pop look that fried your brain and melted your face was Haruna and her drumming. This is Wacken the Mecca of Metal with 82K real hard core metalheads, so to impress this crowd you had to be exceptional. This show served notice that the next time these ladies are there the Main stage is where they belong. Haruna and Asami really nailed this short show and all of the ladies left the crowd stunned and amazed and at Wacken that is no easy feat.

If only they were to hit up some festivals here in the U.S.A.!!! I know the drummer from Collective Soul was impressed and suggested they play in some festivals here. Hopefully, if they ever come to the U.S., it is sooner than later.

"Once in a lifetime band" ... What a comment! I concur. Glad to see you introspecting deeper on how exceptionally gifted and dedicated LOVEBITES is. Their lyrics that you touched on (which most reactors shy away from) reflect that they are more than just a band of elite musicians. Song after song after song, their near unrivalled musicianship coupled with the maturity of their lyrics that touch on meaningful personal and global themes ... plus deliberately articulated in English ... which is outside the comfort zone of native Japanese speakers (why again Lovebites is an exception among Japanese bands of all stripes). On many levels, LOVEBITES is a transcendent band and I find them truly inspiring.

Thanks for the continuing homage to Lovebites. If you ever get to see the full video of this set, you will witness this crowd, most of whom had never heard of this band, fall in love with them song by song.

Awesome reaction ! Really glad you chose the Wacken LIVE version. The common theme with "Under the Red Sky" and "Above the Black Sea" is about World War II. "The Apocalypse" and "Under the Red Sky" form something like a duology for the Atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The former is about the darkness and despair, and the latter is about rising above the destruction and trauma. "Above the Black Sea" is about the thoughts of a Kamikaze pilot, not the atomic bombs.

Although formed in. 2016, Lovebites did not begin to play full length concerts until late 2017. Their first full length concert was played in London at the Underworld club in Camden, London In late November 2017, so this Wacken concert was only around nine months later. Asami said that the lyrics of "Above the Black Sea" are the musings of a young Japanese pilot on a no return kamikaze mission.

Hey Shorecat, its been awesome to follow you Lovebites journey so far!! 🤘🐺🤘 The journalists were very impressed by the band and they got great press reviews over here in Europe. Sadly i only discovered them in 2020 so i missed all the shows they played here in Europe, but i wont miss the next time they come around, that's for sure!! Also playing at Wacken was Miho's dream come true, this was the one festival she always dreamed about playing!! Pretty cool!! M&M switched sides shortly after this. You'll see them in this configuration in all their earlier videos. One reason was that it works better with the piano on stage, and they were working in more songs with MIyako on piano. Small correction--this was indeed about WWII, but it's not about the bombings. They have two songs about that ("Apocalypse" and "Under the Red Sky") but this one is about the thoughts of a Kamikaze pilot as he is about to go on his one-way mission.
