This is a really great video thank you. It so clearly shows how to do the job. As a tip, I have found that when something is stuck, threatening the car and saying things like, "Come off you little blighter - or worse", works really well. I learnt that from my Dad who had been a WWII REME mechanic, lol.

Some of the older guys I knew would saunter off, have a cup of tea and then return to find difficult tasks easier. Getting angry at stuff always works for me.

Seen this tool used on big f250. Looks like a good tool looking at getting one fir the bottom ball joint in the transit.

Great Video Chris, thanks for sharing. Show no mercy and just grind it off. IMHO nut splitters are generally pants and you can never get them in when you need one... however the principle is great. I've found chain drilling a line of holes into the flat of a seized nut works a charm if you are faced with a nut you cant get the grinder in... rear A frame ball joint nut for example.

Do you think the D1 or D2 front axle is better to work on? What is that little blow torch you use? Looks a handy thing to have.

Hey Chris, have you ever thought about building a DYI sandblaster so you can remove rust in no time? There are some vids about DYI sandblaster...Just an idea. You already have the compressor, should be an easy task for you. Waiting to see the result from the electrolysis...keep up the videos! Cheers

Interesting, I've always wanted one, seemed to be very efffective to me. Looks I'm wrong.

I got one thinking it would be a saviour for removing rust...hardly ever use it unless I'm forced, horrible things. They can be effective it's just unpleasant and it's a costly set up. You can get decent results with a 3HP 14cfm compressor but there's a lot of waiting around fot it to catch up. To make it usable you need a big compressor, pre-mix tank and a vacuum extractor in a blasting cabinet otherwise you can't see what you're doing. Looking at around £500 for a decent set up and you'll only have enough power to clean small removable parts.

Very interesting in all aspects. Do you use the same tools to get the new ball joints back in?

Hopefully.

that is a nice ball joint tool & at £40.00 the diy'er can justify the cost ( unlike the £150 + for S-P )
