Yeah, I had a chevy HEI in a small block that hadn't had a cap and rotor changed in god knows how long. The rotor button was completely worn away and the only thing making contact with the rotor was the metal base of the rotor button and the rotor button spring! The arcing that had been going on inside that distributor must have been spectacular because the arc trails went off in every direction. Funny thing is the engine wasn't running all THAT bad.

You should get a work pillow to save your back. Kinda like a bean bag but something that you wouldn't cry a tear over if it splits. I use an old bean bag i had to sit over crap like that. I think i'd probably break my back 9 times over when i have to get under the dash. Too lazy to remove the seat.

Sounds happy, shame the new cap got fucked. My mates old car spewed out black worm like bits of rubber from the brake lines, the remains of a master cylinder rings/seals, every line and brake caliper had to be flushed.

The date code inside that junk 'New' cap says it's been on the shelf for a while... 98 or 86, either way I wonder how much 'Shelf wear' the box had on it (or how happy the shop was to see it finally sell)...

V8Jagnut The one @3:45 that had the broken center contact? Thought you said it was new along with the plugs, wires and rotor button... I wasn't insisting that your replacement was junk or new, and I couldn't see a date code in it anyway...
